On my galvanized pipe water fittings, I use teflon tape on the threads. Its not so much for sealing but to lube the threads and keep the fittings from seizing up making them MUCH easier to get off when they need to be replaced or worked on which is inevitable sometime in the next 20 years for my place.
Tip care a small quality crescent wrench in your pocket. Cathartic pants fave a great pocket on your right leg. I use it all the time as much as my pocket knife.
Nice repair job. And a wide range of controls you have there. Regarding your mainlines: do you pump from the chanell and maybe can show the pumps at a service or is there a central pump station for multiple firelds maintained by a cooperative or so?
We don’t have to do any maintenance on the pumps we just have to keep them oiled and there’s a pump for each field. The pump is either controlled from the pivot center or there’s a switch to turn it on hand to run the sprinklers in the corners.
lol don’t see how u find anything in that shop everything pilled up love the video’s washing the potatoes was crazy video farmers are hard workers every young person need to work on farm for a year give them a work ethic
I'm guessing you've never spent much time on a farm, no offense intended. We just have a small place with just myself and 2 of my sons working in it and it is quite litteraly organized mess. I have 2 tables so full of parts and pieces from sprinkler parts, automotive parts, to pieces and specialty tools for building go karts and four wheelers. All this in just 1 of my 3 shops, my machine shop is worse bc it's the smallest. We clean it out when we can which generally equates to whenever the tractors or equipment start having to be worked on out in the parking are bc there is no room inside the shops to fit them. We will then make a converted effort, if we have time, to clean the shop up to at least be able to pull in equipment so we can work on it the rain.
I assumed that the end gun was to get all of the corners, but I guess the longer the pivot, the bigger the diameter of the circle and the harder it is for the end gun to get it all, and that's where the "handlines" as you call them, (called solid set here in UK when they were used before hose reels took over) help to get the last bits right in the corners? I was surprised how quick your potatoes are flowering at your altitude. What latitude are you at? Maybe you get longer days. We are 52 degrees just north of London.
Many thanks. Compared to my 300ft altitude and 52 lat, your altitude slows your crops down but southerly latitude offsets it and speeds things up. It must be a short but very punchy growing season. Interesting.
What a great video. You always see them out in the fields watering but never see them up close . Thanks for the video…. 👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it. thanks for watching

New sub! Good work! I enjoy learning about potato farming. Thanks and good luck!
Welcome to the channel. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Love those pivots so cool
Thanks for watching

Yeah I usually have one I just didn’t have one that day.
Great awesome video, only imagine what water system costs
It cost quite a bit, but it’s definitely worth it
❤ from Norway
Thanks for watching
Amazing and fantastic video
Glad you liked it
Never Seez might be an option on the connections also
That would work.
I have to do the hand turn when loosening and tighting think.
I think I do it every time
had to use a torch last month on an end gun
Yeah, that’s never fun

Enjoying your videos. Good job keeping spares. That looks like a long pivot, what's the approximate length from the end to the control panel?
Glad you’re enjoying the videos. It’s around 1300 feet long.

Yeah, we clean it every once in a while but with so many people working it becomes a mess pretty quickly I’m glad you liked the video.

Yep and it seems like as soon as you put everything away then you can’t find anything
İf the field square how can irrigate with pivot system
The pivot covers most of it then we put handlines in the corners
How much water are you putting out with one pass on the pivot?
With one pass, it puts down 3/4 of an inch
Do you have to bring beehives in for pollination
No, there are plenty of bees around
What's the best stage to pick the potatoes
I like new potatoes that you get now they’re really good they’re probably my favorite
Definitely, OSHA approved wrenching on a ladder 😅
I hope so. It’s a little sketchy when the pivot starts to shake.
@@RockyMountainFarmer please stay safe out there!! I really enjoy watching your channel! Hugs from TN.

Yeah we try to cover as much as we can but we usually need some headlines or altitude is 4600 feet and the latitude is 43°

It’s around a 5 month growing season.
Always hate being on the ladders for end guns, got some overhangs that are a bit nuts haha! Do you send your guns in locally to get rebuilt?
Yeah, we just take them into our irrigation store and they send them in for a rebuild
Do you contract honey bees 🐝?
No there are lots of bees around
wieviel Kartoffel baut ihr den an?
We grow 1200 acres
What I learned: Buy only aluminum pipe wrenches!
That is a good lesson to learn
Do dear eat potato tops
a you need a helper
That's why u don't get views cause no proper ending for what u want to say
If u fix anything must be in end thats working conditions
