People are missing the real message to this song. It's not about drinking in a bar or something, it's about talking to Jesus. Country people prefer to socialize and have conversations while having a little drink. Nothing wrong with that. What he's saying is if he could sit down and hang out and have a conversation with the Lord, this is how he would do it. Stop hating on him and actually listen to the song. God bless you.

I heard it sometime ago and felt so moved by the message!
I love this song cause it hits home for me. When I was 17 I fell asleep behind the wheel. My foot floored it and I got up to 68 mile per hour. Right before I hit the car at the light I woke up and I felt arms wrap around me and told me to sleep. for the few seconds of impact I was unconscious. Needless to say me and the driver both walked away with no injurys. The cop that did the report from the hospital told my mom he has no idea how I am still alive let alone without a scratch. Jesus saved me that day and the guy I unfortunately hit. If I get the chance I would love to ask Jesus why he saved me that day.

A couple months before my grandpa passed away in 2018, he told my grandma he wanted this to be played at his funeral.. we played it his burial on a chilly October day. Sometimes I come here to listen to his song and remember the good times we had and riding around in his old classic car. May he Rest In Peace.

I think this song comes legitimately from a sincere heart. Jesus will meet us anywhere we find ourselves if we call his name. Just like the blind man who called out "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy of me!" as he sat by the road begging (Luke 18:38). Jesus didn't say, "Clean him up and bring him to the nearest synagogue." Instead, Jesus dealt with the blind man right there by the road side and asked him "What do you want me to do for you?". I love this song for that reason.

Hey Thomas, I just wanted to say that I truly understand the message in this song... I've done a lot of wrong in my time, but I truly wish I could just sit down and have that "beer" with Jesus to let him know I really don't know what I'm doing in life, but I appreciate more than anything that he gave his life to see people like me to the greater side of the afterlife..

this is a beautiful and honest song by a great country artist, you people make me angry arguing about " Jesus would not drink beer", well i think that is the opposite of the truth. Jesus came to minister and heal and save the lost sinner, to deliver the oppressed and love everyone. So please dont post ignorant comments unless you know exactly what Jesus would do, and as far as I am concerned Jesus was the only human being ever to live a sinless life and yes he did drink wine with alcahol in it. I found this song again after binging Thomas Rhett and fell in love with song again. It’s beautiful in every way from the country sound to the message. I miss old Thomas Rhett, but Country Again at least brought him back to his old roots.

god does exist!! I am living proof that miracles do happen and that God does exist! I am a two-time cancer survivor of stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma had a bone marrow transplant in February 2002 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown West Virginia. The doctors told me that there was nothing else they could do for me and I felt the arms wrapped around me I felt the healing touch of Jesus in that room and upon me. People can say what they want but they can never take that feeling away from me

I have a beer with Jesus about once a week, maybe twice. I work evenings at a restaurant so I work late. One of my favourite things to do after work is to go to the pub across the road, often in the middle of week when it’s quieter (sometimes I’m the only customer there) or on the weekend if I need a bite to eat after work too, order a pint and just talk to the Lord about what’s going in my life and what’s on my mind. I still go to church on Sunday and read my Bible every morning but I also enjoy just sitting there with a cold one and just talking my Lord and Saviour.

Jesus was more than likely a real person, but his affiliation with/as an entity is wishy washy just as any mythological story. I wouldn't pray that you follow Zeus or Apollo, Worship Mohammed or Buddha..there is no need to recruit to your faith team. All religion does is segregate, I think if we spent more time loving instead of labelling..the earth would be a much more livable place.

The fact is Jesus and God (however you perceive them) did not stop communicating 2000 years ago. They are here today, everyday, everywhere. The cook, the waitress, the cashier, the cabby, the mechanic, the Dr., nurse, radiologist, and person you meet at the gas station or grocery store. They guide us every day. They give us advice, guidance and direction. Sometimes we are the person put there to offer those words. The only difference is if we listen.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. And we country people, we know that. We can talk to him anywhere, anytime and about everything. We may not get an immediate answer, but I can say from my own experience: I almost always feel a response in some way. I did not believe in the Lord for a long time until my first real talk with him. Through him i could find my way back into life. One of my best friends is a lutheran pastor whom I would trust my life to. Please, anyone. Let's keep Christianity going and strong and let's not surrender our culture and the truth to the wrong side. God bless !
