Don't do it.. find an 86-90 since they use forged internals, the rotating assembly is lighter in the 91-95 5.0 so you get more hp top end but lose torque. Also lose strength..
@@unfinished93 They aren't bad motors, but it depends on what your intentions are and what you buy. the 86-90 used roller cams and roller rockers the 85 and prior used a flat tappet cam profile, which is fine, but you'll need to run zinc additives so you don't ruin the cam.. the 85-91ish had forged crank, pistons, rods and were much stronger than the 92-95 5.0 that used an aluminum allow piston, it made the rotating assembly lighter, but you shouldn't run forced induction on these motors, the internals will melt.. speaking of forced induction, the blocks have a weak casting and at around 500hp they will split in half. The mexican 5.0 has a different block, most crate motors use that block design. Then also keep in mind the HO and non-HO 5.0 use completely different internals the non HO is no where near as potent. If you are building it from scratch, and are just looking for cheap, find a 5.8 out of an f150 or bronco. they offer a better all around platform to build high hp. If you need a rear, 86-93 5.0 will be the limited slip 8.8 ring gear. the T5 manuals all, camaro, mustang and other platforms all have crap synchros, so if you buy one, be prepared to do some aftermarket rebuild kit on it.. almost a guarantee that 3rd will crunch.. also be prepared for a flywheel and pay attention to the harmonic balancer.. they used different weights all over the place.. the flywheels tend to spider crack.. the clutch kit imo should be stock, a little clutch slip will save the transmission.. the 8.8 rears are pretty much indestructible

That 94 gt sounds really healthy, just bought my 04 mach1, i want to get it to sound similar, it has a nice deep rumble and is pretty loud on coldstart/ acceleration. But middle of the day it's pretty quiet. Just bought my mach, think it's just factory h pipe.
I have a 95' 5.0, I just put a bbk off road x and hollowed out flowmasters. I'm highly considering headers, because although I love it's noise, I want more. Would you recommend getting shorty headers, and removing the mufflers, or going with the long tubes, and getting a shorty x? Your car sounds amazing bro! I never get tired of those deceleration pops!!!
camoaesthetics Depends what you going for longtubes and shorty x will give you more power and crazy sound,if you get shorty headers and x pipe your sound and power will be good just not as good as long tube. The only advantage to short headers is price and you can keep the x pipe you have also saving you more money.
I got the opportunity to buy a V6 one of these (yeah i know v6 lol) but it was still a manual at least, and I got it for $850 and I just beat the crap out of it and was still fun so I didn’t have to drive my truck and waste more gas it was still fine
jessymotion pictures I thought you were confused by what they were meaning by 93 fuel so that's why i replied. Higher octane only matters if you have a higher compression engine to prevent knock. I personally run 93 but that's what my car is tuned for.
Did you notice much of anything from the SR performance cold air intake? I bought one with a 75mm bbk throttle body and just wondering if it makes much of a power difference
When I bought the car it had the intake already but a bone stock 5.0 with just intake maybe 3hp, but it starts helping if you get throttle body, manifold. it adds to everything else you get.
Also make sure it hasn’t been recked. Check core support, panel fitment. Test drive it, and shift through every gear. Listen for squeaking and rattling. Mine has a bad throwout bearing so it rattles a bit. Check if the clutch pedal comes back up smoothly and doesn’t stick. Unfortunately there are a lot of those cars that were ragged out and taken care of poorly. $1800, sounds like a project. Lol just realized that was a year ago...😤

You've probably made up your mind by now, but I personally love the 94 and 95 GTs. Beautiful cars. Fun to upgrade too. They can be fast cars too, with not much money put into them.
If I can find a stick shift SN95 preferably v8 in good condition I'll go for it, then get an S197 or S550 later, although my bucket list car is a Fox 5.0.
5.0 are fun and cheap to build 4.6 are good on boost pretty good on hp any cobra r good but hard to find and pretty heavy in the pockets 05 why and why hp OK but a gt is a gt not much to it 300hp 05 mustang inside is a plastic hell on wheel
@@BRENDAJASON1 you mean downshifting the appropriate thing to do in any manual vehicle while slowing down. Engine braking is harmless unless you accidentally over rev. I hit 14k in mu rx8 once on a early downshift
Storm Mccree been driving manual since I was 12. when I downshift i downshift later not so much stress on the motor or as this video by not taking it out of gear or pushing the clutch letting the engine come down like that that’ll float em, not gonna say I haven’t done this cause I have floated valves in 280z and downshifted in another Nissan missed gear clutch exploded
FastLaneRacing no don't get gt40 top end... get trick flow top end kit,with the 11r heads you'll see over 400+hp you won't regret it,my brother has the twisted wedge 170cc heads but even those are really good! He put out 307whp and let me tell you! That thing rips through every gear! It pulls so hard it gets no traction all of 1st and second gear and chirps hard in third gear,he's smoked the newer camaros with auto trans and exhaust work!
FastLaneRacing this is a topic I've been very interested in, as they say the gears is a 'most bang for the buck' mod. I just bought a '97 Cobra and THINK(lol) I've decided on the 4.30 gears, because I don't plan on driving over like 80 hardly ever, if ever. And I'm not worried about 1st gear being 'useless' as some would argue. I'm very nice with the clutch and feel like I could definitely get some use out of 1st gear still. Do you think gas mileage would turn to shit?
Alejandro Westinghouseshire I can't tell you how much reading and research I did on gears, I couldn't decide whether to put them or not. Every forum said the same thing, best bang for buck but I am always doubtful of forums and things read on the internet most of the time. This time however they were not wrong one bit, I can tell you from first hand experience now gears are the most amazing mod to do to these cars. The car is a COMPLETELY different experience now it's hard to put into words but I know the first mod to do to any mustang now. Now in your situation I feel like 4.30 are to high unless that's ONLY a track car. I went with 3.55 because I daily my car and still wanted to maintain good high way speed. I can't imagine how 4.10 would feel let alone 4.30s, I wish I could put those but from a real drivability stand point gears do also make a big difference. My gas mileage has gone significantly down and that's driving at 60mph my rpm are at 2,3. So if you do plan on being on the highway for more than 10 minutes I would highly advice not to go with 4.30s. Definitely do the gears but I recommend going into 3.73 especially since you have more power than me most likely.

Add boost you will be happy.. my SN is stock with a vortech blower and it really brought the car to life
Stock 5.0 blocks split in half right around 450hp and only the 90 and prior use forged internals.. really don't want to boost the old pushrod v8s
I can tell you have straight pipe because all that back popping that's all fun and all but at some point back to x-pipe for me
It's not straight piped, it's stock with headers only, my 95 has the same popping on decel

Good idea, which did you go with? I have 4:10Ratio, love it! Really, really woke the car up 10x more than any of my other mods. But mine is an auto, so it desperately needed it.
Also, what exhaust is that, sounds good on power, not so much off, but on power is sounds great.
Went with 3.55 gears since its the daily and the exhaust is long-tube headers to x-pipe and dump it there.
