The resume is definitely fire!!! 🔥 It’s so important to attract them with everything related first, I always hated when people recommend putting the skills at the bottom. I did something similar to get my first IT job no experience.. I’m about to use this to pivot again.. thanks for the template!!!
This video was really helpful congrats on your first job. Can you make a video about the projects to do & include in our resume this would be a nice video if you can🙏🏾
Yeah you nailed it with this one! I will be taking your advice and condense my resume into 1 page highlighting the relevant and transferable skills from my past paid experience. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. It is so difficult to start a cybersecurity career from the ground up, and you gave me much needed hope 😁🔥
This is honestly a really dope vid, edits and all are top tier 🔥 Excuse me for asking, but where do you find useful projects to do that are as in-depth like the ones you did?
I'm at Indiana University right now, go Hoosiers! Do you think I would be able to get into cybersecurity with a degree in Information Systems from Kelley, some certs, and maybe a minor in security informatics, or should I be completely switching to Luddy?
Hell yeah dude! I live in Indy and have been working helpdesk for a few years. I’m trying to leave that job and get cyber security carts to cover the areas my experience doesn’t cover. I gotta say, I’m a little jealous of you being in the spot you are now. You’re at a good place to set yourself for success. Whichever way you go, I wish you all the best!
Hey man came across your video and wanted to ask how long did it take you to complete your projects? and how long was each one? I have my Security +, and I am currently working on Blue Team Level 1 certification which contains a lot of valuable hands on training with SIEM, and Analyzing and responding to phishing attacks, Performing forensics investigations to collect and analyze digital evidence, Using a SIEM platform to investigate malicious activity, and Conducting threat actor research. but what other projects would you recommend so i can stand out more?
Probably 3 months for a couple of certs, a set of technical projects, and a bunch of online learning. Took more time after that to go through the job process. But everyone is different so it may take shorter/longer or be completely different than me. I think its easy for people to gravitate towards projects like red teaming/malware analysis/threat hunting, when in reality, alot of entry level jobs don't do that. Projects for fundamental and practical job duties may be helpful to employers-- identifying phishing, identifying IOCs, and projects with everyday SOC tools. Best of luck
@@blakekwhite awesome, thanks for the advice on what employers would specifically look for, but if you don’t mind me asking what projects do you highly recommend based on your experience should I do? I understand results may very person to person
Awesome video! I started the SOC Level 1 training path but I only did the free ones, do you think it's worth it to pay the premium to get the certificate? I'd also love to know how you did all your home labs because the ones you did are things that interest me but I don't know where to start.
As a recruiter I can say these three tips in the video are spot on and fundamental to catching a recruiter’s eye
do you think security+ and blueteam level1 are enough certs wise?
Tell us more about your interview , what did they ask..what kinda scenario based questions or did they ask to complete any tasks
I love the usage of beats as sound effects in the video
He is so fine, hardworking, and smart 😮💨
