    In 1990 which was the middle of Jordan's career, the average team attempted only 5 3PT attempts per game. Today they average 35 per game. The point is that if Jordan grew up in this era, he would have worked 110% on the 3 ball just like he did every other aspect of his game. Jordan excelled on EVERY aspect of the game, So it only stands to reason that he would excel at the 3 ball because it's in such high demand in this era.

    • @jca4343
      @jca4343 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's actually debatable on if MJ MJ would have worked on his 3 point shot. First he didn't take more 3s because he didn't want to. He said it would have affected other parts of his game. Secondly he was a better 3 point shooter than his stats would show. He only shot 1.8 3s per game for his career. So taking into account forced last second shots at the end of a clock he is a better shooter than stats show. Those last second shots would kill a percentage when not taking many.

      But, That interview was a long time ago... The 3ball hasn't just become more popular, It's become Even more essential than a jump shot or layup in today's game.
      Considering it's arguably the most important shot in today's game, I'm pretty confident he would have paid more attention to it, practiced it more (at least to an extent).
      I can't imagine guys like Anthony Edwards, SGA, KAT, ETC walking around taking 3s all game, Knocking em down, talkin trash and MJ not shutting them down the same way. Just can't picture it

    I hate having to bring his name up, but the reason Lebron is not as “clutch” as MJ is because he never mastered the midrange game. In a pressure situation, it’s the most convenient shot to take. It’s not too far out that the percentage of making it is low, and it’s not close enough to the basket where it will be heavily contested. Almost all great last two minute players have a great jump shot.

    • @musicsdarkangel

      Exactly! He shoots 38% from midrange, doesn’t have a post up game, and shoots 73% from the free throw line. All the people saying he wasn't a 3pt shooter. Needs to understand the error. Also his 32% avg, is on par for the era he played in. His ball handling is 1. If you can get to your spots with 1/2 dribble pull up or with wiggle it doesn't matter. As a ball handler, your purpose is to get to you spot to have an advantage over the defense. MJ wasn't wasting dribbles.

    Jordan was not a pure shooter. His shot is adjusted for how he bounds.. vs how Curry or Klay shoots quite fluidly. Kobe is also not a pure shooter and discusses how he adjusts his shot. Jordan isn’t a 3 point specialist because of this. However, in practicality for his athleticism and skill set. It’s better that Jordan shoot how he does, because of how he uses this shot correction ability mid air after bounding up and hanging for his fadeaway.

    Having watched Jordan play in the '90s when I was a kid, it's frustrating to see today's players move past their primary defender and just keep going to the hoop..
    I'm always like "Dude, you just got past your guy. You're open. Take the shot!"

    If anyone has ever played 2K xbox ,or playstation. Ive seen Jordan play in that era He was a made up player on the Video game. Image everyone is very good on the court but he was That much better that everyone else. Quicker, Faster,Could pull up from anywhere,jumping out of the gym. Superior defender.
    Jon Salley said 1st time he played him ,someone pick him on a play and he slip the pick to get the defender perfectly,It was MJ. Said before he blink Jordan waist was going by his eyes 😮 and dunk. Salley was 6"11 .

    I'd put him at a 4 for 3 point shooting, but he was pretty good for his era so 3 is fair too. mid Rangers jordan is a -1. nobody has ever mastered the art of just knocking them down quite like him. Kobe came close, KDs come close, but nothing quite like MJ hitting 50% fg on jumpers when the spacing was ass and the arc was crowded

    There will always be debates between the bias of fans of former and current eras and experts alike but ask yourselves this, if your life depended upon 1 player to win a game that saves your life under the most insane pressure, I bet just about 100% of people would entrust Jordan to do it. The ferocity of his competitiveness is pretty much unmatched in this sport. The man would literally take the tiniest things personally and punish you for it and make it a point that you are psychologically damaged from it. The man was a savage and he wouldn’t be out of place 10000 years ago in the neanderthal days for sheer preparedness to do what it took to be the last beast left.

    I'm a huge Jordan fan, but I grew up in that era and MJ was NOT the best shooter in the league, really at any time, as great as he was. Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, Dale Ellis, Mark Price, Glen Rice, and Chris Mullen (to name a few) were all better shooters than MJ.

    midrange was yeah 0
