    Hello neighbor. I am a new sub, and we live over in palmer. Could you reuse those lids for dry goods or stuff that will be vacuumed sealed?

      Hello neighbor!! I would definitely reuse any lid for dry goods. For vacuum sealed, just make sure the rubber is good, the edges are smooth and the enamel coating on the inside of the lid isn’t scratched or rusty. 😊 Welcome aboard.

    I need those "grab a hot jar gloves"! What kind are they and where did you get them please? I've seen others that are way too big, bulky, and thus scary to use for grabbing things. I never thought to freeze celery after it's chopped, i figured it would totally ruin it, though a couple days in the fridge is just as bad...
    Many Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia!

      Hello Deborah from West Virginia! Here’s a link to the gloves. Mine are a medium I think. Up here in Alaska, and I usually find them in the fishing section during commercial fishing season at Walmart. amzn.to/3QNuiW2
      The celery definitely doesn’t stay crisp after freezing, but I love this premade soup mix. The rest of the celery, I just put in Ziploc bags and kept frozen until I needed it for other casserole/soup type dishes. Be blessed friend

      @@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska thanks & Blessings! They don't say heat safe but I'll read more about them.

      @@JoyfullyOrangeDeborah they are actually fish handling gloves. Ha! You can’t stick your gloved hand in boiling water for ever. But it gives me enough time to put the jars in or take them out without getting burned snd the rubber material is great for grip. I also use them when I’m deboning a hot chicken or the like.
      I’m actually doing a drawing and giving away a pair of these gloves when this video reaches 300 views. It’s at 276 you still have time to get in. You can watch it and follow the directions in the video if you want. 😊

    Question What Kind Of Pressure Canner Do You Have ?

    • @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska
      @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks for your question. It's a 37 Qt Buffalo. It can hold 12 Qts, 38 pints, 36 squatty 1/2 pints, or 69 1/4 pints! I originally wanted an All-American because they do not require a rubber gasket. However, when I went to order one, they were 9 months out for filling orders. So, I bought this one instead since harvest time was fast approaching. It was a little less expensive and has a rubber gasket, but I've been pleasantly surprised with this canner. It's perfect for big batches. and it is built solid. I love the 2 big kettle type handles on the sides. It makes such a large canner easy to carry around. There's a link in the description if you want more info on this canner. Hope that helps. 🙂
