    A clean boost or even an EQ at the end of your chain in the loop can be used to greatly increase the clean headroom. For anyone concerned about not having enough headroom as a pedal platform. I am using an RC Booster clone for this. It also gives an extra level of EQ with the bass and tone control.
    Great vid thank you.

    Actually the most useful review out there, showing all the different scenarios, especially the one with Stamp as a clean pedal platform.

    Orange is my favorite amp company too, and I love this thing, just got one last week.
    I keep hearing conflicting information as to the solid state power section, SweetWater and orange have both said it’s class AB yet they also say it’s identical to the micro dark (and I believe that) and that it’s class D. The weight would make me think it is In Fact class d. Even the manual doesn’t say what class it is. Regardless, I run a micro dark and this now as a stereo rig, stereo chorus and delay are lovely, and I keep them set identically except I tweak the shape slightly on each and have one through a 2x12 cab and one through an open back 1x12.
    Also, your pedalboard is lovely, I’ve got the mxr Timmy as well and it’s such a great pedal!

    Got my terror stamp a couple of weeks ago. This thing is loud. Louder that you expect. Pretty decent sound for such a small amp.

      @@SeanPierceJohnson I plug it into a 60watt cabinet with Celestion Vintage speaker. It's good enough for rehearsal or small gig. It can easily get too loud for home playing.

    Great demo!
    Would the Stamp still sound good at low volumes for playing quitely in a flat/apartment? I read one reviewer say it sounded thin at low volumes.
    Or maybe I can connect the Stamp to my audio interface, then to studio monitors, and control the volume that way?

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s certainly better sounding if it’s turned up past whisper. I thought it sounded fine at low volume. But you can definitely plug it into an interface and control your volume that way

    Best demo on this amp on YT ! Question can the "pedal plateform" use of it be enought for gigin ?

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ElectricJaguarBaby Management Wow!! Thanks man 🙏 incredibly humbled by that compliment. Honestly, it all boils down to the speaker cab you use on that tone. It “feels” louder through an 8ohm cab and a higher power speaker than through my Orange 212. BUT, even still, it has quite a bit of volume.

      @@SeanPierceJohnson i mean It, i watched 15+ videos on this amp.
      I use a ppc12 or whatever i can depending where i play. Most of the time i use a rocker 15 head, but need a smaller amp on the go. So After your video i might go for It ! Also a possibilty to crank the volume on other pedals (like fuzz or od)

    i actually do use the Micro Dark on my board mounted with Zip Ties after my Orange Two Stroke Parametric EQ and before my 1990 Yamaha 7 band EQ as my main tone without any gain or distorion pedals, which, like fuzz and other shit, there are a ton of, I run that into an Orange Rv100MKII 3/4 stack and a Dark Terror with a 1994 Tubeworks Tweed 4x12 and a 1980 essentially NOS PV Classic 50VT with Phaser circuit so a 65W stack stereo with an Orange Bass Crush 100 1x15 Bass amp and a Behringer Ultrabass 300w Head and 1x18 300w bass cab in the center as an essentially AI basssist as the Ultrabass circuit is also an OC5 and on guitar the suboctave cuts out when I get into treble notes so I don't have to worry about turning it off either, the 1x15 adds just enough thunder to the guitar to push it ove rthe edge into bass range especially as I tune to C flat Standard and use synth pedals.

    A few things. It’d be great if there was a Gain channel assigned to each volume. That’d be so useful. The power pack is huge. Maybe if it could power 4-5 pedals also then it’d be even more useful. Finally, love the look of your pedal board, who makes it? Thanks.

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      - It would be cool to have two full channel but then the pedal would be rather large. they were definitely going for compact here.
      - as i say in the video, you need that kind of power to run a tube at the proper voltage. it is sizeable, but if you tuck it underneath a pedalboard, it's no issue for me.
      - the pedal board in the video is the ACCEL Audio XTA-21. I actually have a video about it on my channel. Check it out!

    • @sprintingforsigns
      @sprintingforsigns 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      SeanPierceJohnson yeah I get that, but in reality the pedal and pack supplied ends up being much bigger. Most people focus just on the size of the unit rather than the complete package. I’d take a bigger box with a simple kettle lead over a transformer pack. I’ll take a look at your review on the board also.

  • @icenic_wolf

    Man, it sounds great, even the cleans! And the higher gain w/ delay at around 12:27 sounded great to my ears.
    ...sounds great except for the cab sim, that is, which somehow sounds even worse than the 2015 Mesa/Boogie cabclone. o.O

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahah! I’m not even mad that you mentioned it. As we said in the wrap-up, the built-in Orange Cab Sim is the weakest part of the whole package. But I’m glad you dig the video! Come back for more ✌️❤️🤘

    I have an orange th-30 and I want to use this as essentially a third channel. Can I use it with the same cab? Or do I need an aby sorry if this is a noob question.

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries about "noob" questions...I'm here to answer:
      Unless you have some sort of switcher that will route your audio through the Terror Stamp one patch and then reroute the audio to your amp's input, you can't use this as a "third channel". Although there are products like this on the market, the Terror Stamp isn't that advanced.
      If you wanted this to be 3rd channel, the easiest way would be as you assumed: get another cab, ABY switcher and go back and forth.
      It's not glamorous and is a lot more gear than you may want to cart around but you'll spend way less money on that setup them a switching system to do it for you.

    I was about to pick this up until I heard your demo with that cab sim. I'd be getting this to both play live but, more importantly, record direct into Logic (I don't like Logic's amp/cab designer). If this is how the cab sim sounds, though - very thin and tinny, then I might skip it. The actual amp sounds incredible through your cabinet, though.

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd still pick it up. You can always use the Line Output into your interface and use IR loaders in your DAW or even check out some of the Cab Sim pedals out there like the NUX Solid Studio, ENGL Cab Loader etc.
      Then you'll have more options.

    Nice review bro. However it's a class AB power amp, not class D (a good thing IMO). I find it runs out of headroom quickly if you pile on the boost in front of the amp. I like mine, but I haven't felt ready to use it live yet as some of my favourite pedals don't play so well with it, especially my fuzz face.
    But this amp is loud and I imagine with the right cab it'll be a great, compact rig for many gigging musicians.
    I wouldn't mind trying it out with a lower gain tube in it like a 12AY7. I don't need the amount of gain that this thing can deliver!
