I had never seen anything like it. In all my time on the frontlines of war and bloodshed, no scene had ever even matched what lay before me. It was harrowing, haunting, and horrifyingly beautiful. The earth, scorched and churned, the bodies piled high, mangled and scorched. A mass grave of soldiers, valient men and women with whom I had served for a long time, and whom I had witnessed triumph against even the most terrible odds... all gone, now. Laid to waste in a storm of fire the likes of which not even the damned imperials up in their high fortress could hope to match. Embers drifted over the battlefield, the stench of sulfur permeated the air, and an ashen wind sent motes of dust and charred flesh lashing into my eyes. And there, just at the edge of my sight, a mere silhouette amidst the haze, was the cause. On two long legs did it walk, its beady eyes darker than the deepest, darkest depths of the blackest hell. They pierced my soul, and I knew, then and there, that I was to be next. The air began to warm, and the sky, yet again, lit ablaze. As my imminent fate fell upon me, the ghostly howls of my fallen comrades yet ringing in my ears, a single crimson feather drifted before my eyes, before the fell beast spoke to me. One thing was all it said. A single, meaningless sound, yet I knew then and there that it had staked its claim upon my soul... "Kweh." The meteors come, and as my life flees me, and the world falls to darkness, all I can do is whisper one final plea to the wind... "Rez plz."
I had an incident where I fought the Red Comet for the first time......thank the twelve I looked at a guide....where I was on my PLD and everyone just started dying....some DPS went down, then healers when down, all that was left was me and a Red Mage. The Red Mage was scrambling to pick everyone up but the Verraise spam was draining his MP pools. Meanwhile I'm scraping by with instacast Clemancy thanks to Requiescat. But even so the AoEs was just too much and soon, it was just me, a lone Paladin staring down this monstrosity. The boss had 10% of its health left and I was still had a surplus of Lost Reflect, an item that the guide basically said would determine victory or defeat in this fight in particular. All I had to was dodge the AoEs, midigate the Choco Slashes, catch the tower, Lost Reflect the stack up and proximity AoEs, survive the bullet hell that is Choco Meteor Storm, manage MP for Clemency, and kill the boss with only 8 minutes left on the clock. I don't know how but I managed to pull it off with 20 seconds remaining.....I became a PLD main after that.

(This quote's from the Bradygames strategy guide) Really 😕 this guy's one of the easier early bosses. Hell, even when I was underleveled I had a harder time getting to him.
Agreed. Bergan was a lot harder without Quickenings, since he fights like a mad Berserker (he hits for 500+ a pop at Level 30, which is insane). Ghis is tame by comparison.
@@cameraredeye3115 That actually leads to another strategy guide fun fact The same book says that Bergan will hit you with every elemental attack under the sun, and then you fight him, and all he does is attack, attack, attack. That's because in the original Japanese version of the game, he actually used mostly magic (though his attack power was still high enough to get the same damage in 🤔), but every other version of the game got rid of his spells

Joshua Robson final fantasy xii has one amazing overworld that is ivalice With somewhat boring main characters Knowing what ivalice have im impressed that we didn’t get a bangaa a moogle or a seeq as a main character
To be honest, the only good main character of FF12 was Balthier. The guy was literally the leading man, a supporting character for the "main characters" ashe and vaan. Balthier knowledge and resources is what made the adventure of FF12 possible. The dude literally saved the party on many ocassions and he had Fran as his main supporting character. Without Balthier the party would've died by the Bahamut fortress. Another thing is that Balthier kinda shaped the decisions of Vaan and Ashelia; moreover, Balthier used to be a judge and his father is the most important person of the Archadian empire. Without Cid, the Archadian empire technological and magical prowess would be nothing. If a shady character approached the party, Balthier already knew who they were and he'd develop some sort of ruse to counter attack said stuff or warn the party after the interaction with the stranger is over. Without Balthier's ship, the party would've never made it to specific locations because they were wanted fugitives from the empire so traveling by private airships was almost impossible because they could not secure one. Seriously, Balthier IS basically the main character of the game and despite FF12 main characters not being written as super stellar story driven characters, the fact Balthier almost single handedly carries the party tells you how good the character is. To sum it up: Vaan sucks, Penelo sucks as much as Vaan because she barely do anything in-game lore(she is great as a time mage/white mage tho lol) Basch is just a statue that says "yes my lady, yes, the lady ashe" Fran doesn't speak too much and she is literally Balthier's supporting character, Ashelia almost suck as much as Vaan but she has the title of "princess that needs to liberate dalmasca" she is always clouded with dumb doubts and in the end she doesn't do shit. Vayne was struck down by the party, not ashelia. Ashelia literally had a pocket nuclear weapon and other crazy stuff and she didn't do shit with it. Conclusion: FF12 is amazing when it comes to the overworld. It has amazing locations and it is a very vibrant world. The villains and monsters are on point but the heroes...well they suck, except Balthier.
