yes, the high pass filter helps protecting the woofers from low frequencies that make them go beyond their excursion limits, without it they might start bottoming out

crised well that's a better explanation than saying "it is turned on by default sometimes" (which is wrong of course) All i wanted to say is this: "LFM" actually disabled all signal processing from the speaker, which means that audio signal will only be amplified without any adjustment (i.e. band pass filters, artificial amplification, ...) So it should actually be called DSP off mode.
There is lfm, its just not something JBL wanted buyers to find out because it can damage the speaker, but lfm doesn't give any actual bass output, it turns off DSP. So as you can assume small drivers at 20hz will not give off any actual clean bass

I have tested some of the smaller Sony BT speakers (2018 and 2019 model year, price 90-150€) and they did not sound as good as JBL counterparts. But after using a lot of EQ in their app I got them soud reasonable. Still not great ☹️.
@@Pantosoft Oh, nice to hear that SRS-XB10 has worked great for you! I haven't tested that myself. I would say that SRS-XB31 is not a bad speaker. But to get it perform I needed to use a lot of EQ in the app. Even after that it didn't quite have as fast and good bass control, high resolution mids or clear highs than JBL Flip 4 (I had them two days side by side). The output level capability was about the same. SRS-XB31 just didn't sound as "live like" as Flip 4. Of course observed sound quality is a matter of taste thing. But I'm actually HiFi / high end audio professional designer (have been 15 years). And I have also been retailing many, many audio products, so I have pretty decent base for making comparisons. Still this is only my opinion and other people could have a different taste - that's okay 😊. P.S. I was actually quite impressed how good sound you could get with the Flip 4 (I haven't listened the newer version). I preferred its sound compared to the next larger JBL speaker (which was noticeably louder and went somewhat deeper but was not as clear or punchy). I typically work with systems costing 100x - 5000x more.

Niice listening on it!
LFM is a mode that turns off the DSP (bass limiter). I made my flip 5 do 3hz on LFM loll
I think that we both agree that LFM isn't useless. What a shame that you can't turn on LFM on a Partybox 200.
@@xrvd it is on the flip 5 on low volume, the bass gets completely cut off on low volumes
@@asduhaisjdjasd ok
@@xrvd nice pb 200 tho
don't use lfm, it damages the speakers. it is a debug mode.
Awesome 😍🔥
He is not gonna go with big
He is gonna go with XTREME
yea
Use the song Wizard fatality
lfm is a thing and i know for sure because i have a jbl speaker myself and it works by holding the pairing and volume down keys for 10 seconds then the light on the power on/off button will flash and then you are ready to go but if you do use it dont use on a high volume because it can damage the speaker and also battery life will be greatly affected if you do
wrong it's not a thing, and non of the JBL speakers have "low frequency mode" even the JBL technicians say so.
@@frankyg2267 i cant be bothered to argue and i am just going to say go on my channel and look at the older videos of my jbl flip 4 or just search for jbl lfm and you will see that in fact it does exist
Maybe i can agree about the name because it wasnt given from jbl but a mode that turns off the dsp exists
Put it it low frequency mode by holding the bluetooth button and volume down button at the same time for 10 seconds. Once in low frequency mode turn it up full volume to make BASS
sady main to also generate DISTORTION
@@supernova8948 yer but its cool though
@mystonormind its is a thing google it
That is a service mode which makes it sound really bad but with no limiter
@@skity1233 he shouldn't try it. It's just gonna sound like crap.
If you want to activate LFM you will have to press volume down and pair untill all the light up buttons light up completely white
you mean the way I did it in the video right?
@@MyStonerMind420 ah feck i literally got to 2:34 my bad
You should of got a boombox, its impressive
it would only impress me if I'd never heard a proper sound system before.
Dude the JBL Boombox is very bad for the price. A Partybox 100 would be the wiser choice, but that's more of a portable party speaker that is sufficient enough
@@jblbasstester6198 Partybox 100 does have a lower frequency response than the Boombox, I wonder how sound quality compares.
My Stoner Mind i've got the Partybox 100 and 300. Frequency response begins at 39hz on the 100, and 33hz on the 300.
Here is a very good comparison between the Partybox 100 and Boombox 2 by the way: th-cam.com/video/ba0Mqk8qeZU/w-d-xo.html

While your charging it you can make it louder by charnging it i am not a jbl fan but i am a bose fan
Did you update the speaker ?
Nice sir
yep! ill definitely be picking one up next month! (when i get paid lol)
Finally he got a JBL too😅
yes. Got to the comments a bit late too, but I see the aftermath of whatever's happened :3
LFM is activate using dev mode. It's like a secret. On a Flip 4 press and hold - and bluetooth pair to do it.
Test it outside comparing to your other speakers
lfm just disables the subsonic filter thats set to 55hz
there is the low frequency mode, and when I activated it the bass was scary
Yay finally a jbl
UE boom/Megaboom/wonderboom next?
Imo these are not great sounding speakers. They lack deeeper bass and upper treble, while also compressing signal at higher volumes.
Had a flip 3 se and it was good for the size but it got stolen
Oof I just got a flip 4 and it is noice
Low frequency mode or dslr off is a mode on a jbl to make your bass softer (lower frequency) and its a real thing (how to turn on dslr off) hold the volume down plus the Bluetooth for about 10 seconds or until the connect+ button lights up please pin
(Edit) sorry for my spelling and its called dsp off
*Warning!* Do not activate *”LFM”* It’s just turning off the *DSP - Digital Sound Processor, Limiter* so My Stoner Mind Please do not do that no matter what
it won't brake it, thr only way you can brake it is doing LFM all day every day
alex ferguson61 or playing it a full volume for hours on end, that will blow it.
AyeNash not like fully blow the drivers just that it will not play clean sound and deep bass and the amp will just play music then cut then play cause it’s damaged
@@AyyNash727 i remembered my friend has a jbl flip 4 and he always turns on lfm and amplifier is toast
Yeah you should not put it at full volume but 50% is ok
sony speaker next?
I have tested some of the smaller Sony BT speakers (2018 and 2019 model year, price 90-150€) and they did not sound as good as JBL counterparts. But after using a lot of EQ in their app I got them soud reasonable. Still not great ☹️.
xb41👍👍
The one I had most experience with (tuned it few hours for my friend) was Sony SRS-XB31. imo that was inferior to JBL Flip 4 on all areas of sound.
@@tkermi i was looking to buy that lol. I currently have an srs-xb10 and I was really surprised for 50 bucks! I want a bigger speaker tho.
Its a service mode but us addicts make excursion vids with it 🤣
Yeppp it’s pretty fun tho ngl
It doesnt even make it sound better or such and it can fry the amp
crised ya jbl testers don’t care if they break. We just like testing the capabilities of the speaker drivers and amps.
JBL DESTROYER It doesn't change anything at all. It makes the speaker sound flat and enables the amp to output frequencies it normally couldn't and shouldn't. The drivers are not made for this and will blow within a matter of minutes. If you really want bass you shouldn't've bought a portable bluetooth speaker in the first place, but an actual decent audio system with for example a sub
LFM is a test mode press minus and bluetooth for 10 seconds to activate it
Hello
@@DANU-SH-TUTORIALE hi u found me!
@@bigupbassline58 lfm = distortion, fried amp, blown driver, bottoming out

Do the Sony xb-43 if you can plzzz I think it's better than the jbl Xtreme 2 but hey that's just me.
That's funny you can damage the speaker by pressing buttons the wrong way LOL I think you should try it
speaker gang the lights will be different so you can see when it is on
Low frequency mode is a thing it’s not fake and I have a JBL charge 4 and it gladly goes under 55 hz
lfm is ass. lfm = distortion, bottoming out, and destroying woofer and amp
It doesn't change the frequency response of the speaker itself bruh
Use low frequency mode on it
Very good sound
Try the studio 5. The xtreme 2 will sound like a toy against the harman. ;)
I don't think it really matters, they're different in size so it's only normal. The Studio 5 however is a weird shape and gets a hard pass from me.
Nice
Low frequency mode is just a mode where the amp goes on max and it will clip and overpower the woofers so it will die
press power button 5 times hold last press if it doesnt turn off
My stoner mind lfm is real ... of course it doesn't state it on the Manuel because jbl doesn't want you to damage your speaker. Don't use lfm ... but if you really want to ... hold volume down and bluetooth for 10 seconds . I'm just trying to prove LFM is real
It exists, but it's not meant to be used by customers. It's a debug mode used by JBL.
It was a £189 pounds in currys but ive just looked and its gone back. Andy England 🇬🇧👍
Jbl speakers are good
But the LOW FREQUENCY MODE is usless becouse you can break the spiders if you use them on lfm
Btw the xtreme 2 on battery is only 30w use the plug to get better sound and bass
And toast the coil.
Pasha Es actually managed to rip the voice coil off of the spider on his Flip 5. It was put on a lot of stress though, but still an example for the potential risk of using this mode,
@@jblbasstester6198 I know right. That's good that we have pasha es :)
Yes ❤️jbl

low frequency mode exists but its not supposed to be used.
you can activate the LFM by pressing and holding the bluetooth and minus button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Warning, the speaker could burn out. :)
it's not LFM because there is no such thing, JBL techs even say there is no such thing and he did that in the vid already.
@@frankyg2267 your're wrong
@@frankyg2267 there is but its just a fancy name for it. All it does is turn off the dsp unit.
you mean like I did in the video? :3
The "LFM" mode just disables the DSP in the speaker, allowing the speaker to reproduces lower frequencies. It will damage your speaker. Do not use it. If you want low frequencies, get a subwoofer.
lfm is known as the secret mode
It's disabling it's DSP and that's not secret anymore since 5y
its a service mode for testing, for JBL only. It disables DSP and can damage the speaker badly. Don't ever use it, it doesn't change the sound in any positive way it just allows the amp to produce frequencies it normally shouldn't because it WILL damage the amp or the drivers
There is Lfm people just don't know how to enable it

It is a service mode, disables DSP and all safety features. Can fry your amp or blow out the drivers. It just there for JBL for testing measures and doesn't even make it sound better in any way
For LFM, Hold the Volume down button + Bluetooth button for 10 seconds or until you see the light at top flash. If it doesn’t sound right just do it one more time.
@AyeNash There is no real Lfm it’s just disables the digital sound compressor limiter. That’s why the sound is overridden in this mode.
