Watched this after the SZA interview on Drew Barrymore's daytime talkshow. This song has always been my top 3 CTRL songs. Nice to see and hear it under the context of that interview.
Drew Barrymore made the perfect cameo... All she did was walk by & smiled. That's all she needed to do. It was perfect. Her facial expressions was her stamp of approval!!!!!
What’s even sadder is she’s such a great person and so are so many other people but yet they feel bad because someone or something puts them down. People need to learn that we are all beautiful things that god created and that we are all worth it
@@jasminehouston-burns1691 i don't think you know what subjective means. beauty literally cant be objective. Most likely you don't know what you're talking about.
Here's the thing. I've always loved SZA, but this song, in particular, has always resonated with me in ways that no other from her did. And I think it's because of how unapologetically introspective and poignant it sounds. In a way, she was able to precisely capture the feeling of being alone in your 20's. It sounds like being alone at a party while all your friends are with their respective dates. It sounds like taking the subway alone after the party. It sounds like wanting to be with someone so bad but also knowing it won't work out. It sounds like most of us feel: bitter, blue, confused, but somehow at the same time describes our feelings of nonchalant happiness, bountiful pleasure and juvenile restlessness. I don't know how she did it, but I think this song is a perfect millennial tune. I love her so much.
The Savage Lavish Memes She is black. All this person is saying that she's very talented. She doesn't look any other race then black. They are just stating that she's a black woman who has talent. There's nothing wrong
Stating that she is black is unnecessary, but i do get what you mean, rather then focusing on the race, focus on her sex, shes a beautiful, talented, woman. This is how racist shit starts cuz people put race into everything
The Savage Lavish Memes it's true but in our society we still have to proved that she's black because you're right put race in everything keep the racism but in the same time if she only would be a women that wouldn't make any difference we still have to say we're talented and Black for recognition
The Drew cameo reminded me of being somewhere random alone crying and you see someone coming so you get it together long enough to share a smile. I’m in my last days of my 20s and this album still resonates with me.
Lorenzo Jameson SZA was a big fan of the characters portrayed by Drew. so imagine how being acknowledged and recognized by Drew herself for her song must have felt.
Drew Barrymore looked so proud! The validation! Such a sweet moment... it also doesn't hurt that this is an incredibly gorgeous song, SZA and Drew for the win!
When drew Barrymore walks up the stairs it’s like girls saying “hey I see you and I understand” and it’s like no matter what age you are. Drew’s face was like “hey we’re in this together” even if it was a second. The fact that drew Barrymore was willing to be in this was incredible and her part makes me cry every single time. My best friend is a Scorpio and I’m a Pisces and this part makes me sob.
TwentyØnePhantasticPotatoHeads IntheBlueBadlands because to sza it sounded like a song that could be in one or even a new movie Drew Barrymore played in.
Anyone reading: you have so much more power and strength inside you than you realise. Trust yourself. Have more faith in yourself. BELIEVE in yourself. Fear can be good. You can use it as a tool. Use it to fuel you when starting a new project, even if that project isn’t physical and it’s just working on how you take care of yourself emotionally and spiritually. Teach yourself words of kindness. If 10 year old you was your daughter, in front of you right now, would you tell her out loud the things you say to yourself internally now as an adult? Probably not. You’d want to tell her she’s beautiful, she’s got the abilities to chase her dreams and she shouldn’t listen to anyone else’s negativity. You’d tell her that she shouldn’t ever be ashamed to be herself, that no matter how small she feels she will never let anyone walk over her or speak degrading words to her. You’d tell her she is a goddamn FIGHTER, and she’s always ready, even if she feels like she isn’t. Failure is just as important as success, and if she is able to carry the weight of so many failures then she’s already succeeding, because most people would give up…but not her. You’d tell her she should NEVER give up what’s important to her, even when it gets hard. This is my song of 2025. I really appreciate that because that's what the song is about. It literally opens with a girl wallowing in jealousy but swallowing it because she's at a party with the guy she likes, no glitz, no glamor. This isn't the place for 'HEY LOOK EVERYONE I'M DREW BARRYMORE', it's the place for 'I ran into Drew Barrymore for like a second and it really improved my shitty day'
Watch Hot Ones with Drew Barrymore. She actually talks about this whole song towards the end and it just makes the whole video even more amazing than it already was!

this song means a lot to me. when this song came out, i was involved with this guy. he treated me like shit. but at the same time, i stuck around. it felt good. somehow, i thought it was working. probably i was blinded. and when this song came out, SZA sang "i get so lonely i forget what i'm worth, we get so lonely, we pretend that this works" & "lonely enough to let you treat me like this" i sorta realized, it was not working out. i stuck around because i was lonely. i had nobody at that time. it was a terrible time for me. so, i decided to get out rather than sticking around just because he was at the right place at the wrong time. and it was the best decision i made. thanks SZA.

This song literally makes me cry. Everyday when I got off work I would walk to the middle of nowhere and just sit down listening to this song on repeat. I didn’t go back home until 3 in the morning
The Islands In that case most men are whores. Lmfao. I'm not even a massive fan of SZA but as a man even I can see the hypocrisy in your statement. Literally every other rapper raps about fuckin bitches and doing drugs. If you look at it on a basic human being level, which should be the standard way of looking at things when it comes to gender bashing, male artists talk about fucking another guys girl every other song so unless you criticise all of them you have no moral ground to bash SZA like that. If you have such issues with morals and values then i'm assuming you don't listen to most male rappers right?
This Drew Barrymore cameo was just perfect. I wasn't expecting her to even be in the video at all and the way they looked at it each other....I idk it just gave me chills. Great video overall, I love SZA so much
this sounds like one of those winter mornings where you’re getting ready for school, turn on the tv, mtv is playing music. and you just hear this, and wished you got the name of it, cuz it’s soo fucking good. but u don’t and u carry on with your day until the next morning, and hear it again.

Soon after she got engaged at 16, a short lived relationship that took its toll on Drew, she went through a lot of unsuccessful relationship and her 3rd divorce in august of 2016, one that she’s currently regretting.
Jojo Saylor she really wasn’t ever hated. People felt so sorry for her and then rallied around her for a comeback. She was beloved in the late 90s up until now. It’s great how she overcame her addictions. That’s hard as hell to do.
@@melissaallen3918 was there a reason sza titled this song drew barrymore, like do they have a special relationship lmao ive loved this song for years not even knowing why
if people know the history of Drew Barrymore and her history in the industry and read her book they will understand the song much more. I am her age. she went through some hell in Hollywood.
YALL, that recent SZA and Drew Barrymore interview was so wholesome!! Had to come back to this classic song and music video, SZA is so cute and her humility is admirable!
At first I didn't like this song but the video really helped me vibe with it and from that I actually listened to the lyrics. It's a pretty sad song because she's saying that she is so lonely that she is willing to give up her morals and that she is forgetting how much shes worth just to have something with someone. Even if that someone only cares about the sex she brings to the table. Most of all, she's dealing with loneliness. This is exactly how I been feeling lately.
holy shit can we just take a minute to talk about how amazingly talented SZA is???? also not to mention she's super gorgeous??? why? can't? I? be? this? great?
Ayla Leeman You are! Everybody has a lane, we mess up when we compare ourselves to others. If they're better then it's their time, their shine for their season. When you keep comparing, you're wasting crucial time to be ready when your season comes around.
I don't know why I cried when Drew walked up the stairs. To me it feels like the version of myself that I wish I was- fun, brave, smart, worldly, kind hearted is just right there in my grasp but I can't find her. Health problems, housing issues, job issues and just trying to survive right now has weighed me down significantly. But I still dream about her.
I love that Drew Barrymore only appeared for like 5 seconds. It made that cameo a whole lot more iconic. I feel like if the entire video was centred around Drew it would’ve felt like they were shoving that whole concept in our face. I just love that we got a hint of her. SZA and Drew are both gorgeous can I just say btw
"I get so lonely, I forget what I'm worth We get so lonely, we pretend that this works I'm so ashamed of myself think I need therapy" Damn, this part gets me every time...Love you SZA
It's amazing looking at a woman as gorgeous and talented as Sza, and finding out, through her songs, that she can be as insecure and lonely as any woman. I love her more every song I listen to.
I really wanna hang out with people like them, people who aren't afraid to dress how they want, love who they want, be who they want... it looks like even just a day with them would be a dream.

I think SZA is a genius. Her writing, her phrasing, her arrangements - its all so perfectly placed. And now she's dropping these incredible videos? I hope she's around for a long, long time.
I was at a fruit smoothie restaurant/bar, and the waiter, Drew, was making my smoothie. I said "Drew, barry-more please!" asking him to put more berries in my smoothie that he was making at the smoothie resteraunt when he was making nt smoothie. LOL!
I can't believe I like the way Sza expresses herself. Like she says everything I have felt myself and shares my insecurities which I don't speak openly about all the time so I love her for being so open and relatable and making catchy music and being an absolute gorgeous woman.
It’s been years since this song has been released but there’s something about the whole CTRL album that got me coming back for more. The album helped me through hella shit, but this song struck with me the most and Supermodel. Love u, SZA.
Bet your dumb ass don't have shit to say about all these male artists that promote nothing but black male toxicity= Sexual depravity. Anti woman. Anti black woman. Anti nuclear family. Promotion of violence agenda. Fuck outta here with your hypocrite ass.
The Islands Lol they may not call it being the side bitch to a chick as you put it. But men have BEEN rapping about sleeping with other men's women and bragging about it. And some women can relate to liking a man who's involved...that's that oh it feels so good but it's so wrong thing. You may not like it but there it is. This song literally makes me cry. Everyday when I got off work I would walk to the middle of nowhere and just sit down listening to this song on repeat. I didn’t go back home until 3 in the morning
Sound like me 🥺
I’ve never had an original experience apparently because this was literally me too x
WIG AND EDGES GONE Drew Barrymore is in the freaking "Drew Barrymore " video .. Sza making moves and prospering
If you have such issues with morals and values then i'm assuming you don't listen to most male rappers right?
howtobeabeast FACTS
This Drew Barrymore cameo was just perfect. I wasn't expecting her to even be in the video at all and the way they looked at it each other....I idk it just gave me chills. Great video overall, I love SZA so much
Seriously Rob same I didn't expect her to be in it
Seriously Rob I swear I cried. This album just speaks to me. That part really touched my heart. Glad she's getting so much support.

AnTione Tha Don I
AnTione Tha Don fucking awesome
AnTione Tha Don I was named after her
this sounds like one of those winter mornings where you’re getting ready for school, turn on the tv, mtv is playing music. and you just hear this, and wished you got the name of it, cuz it’s soo fucking good. but u don’t and u carry on with your day until the next morning, and hear it again.
On point
This is so accurate bye
I found my childhood stalker 😭
Dman and to think of it like that.... you are soooo right
Comment on point! 💯
when she sings "I'm sorry I'm not more attractive" when in reality she's the most attractive thing i've ever seen
Ikran "thing"? Lol ok
Jessica X maybe he's attracted to inanimate objects and did mean thing instead of human
+Jessica X, +Teresa Grippo, I mean if you look up the definition of "thing", I think a human being would definitely fall into that category. But maybe I'm trippin
Yea "thing" as in PYT
Jessica X C'mon now.
"do you really love me or just wanna love me down?" WE ALL FELT THIS
I fucking sobbed when Drew walked up 😭 the song, the concept of the video, everything. I'm here for it ALL.

Halima Kamara me too I bawled!!

Therapy is not working for me. Blech

I love the fact that Drew showed up. I get why she named is after her, this song sounds like the soundtrack to Drew Barrymore's life in the 90's.
solarge knowles I don't see drew in the video
Actress, author, director, model and producer a very successful woman. Now if her sure name sounds familiar to you, it’s because The Barrymores are a known acting family, they even were the inspiration for the Broadway and West End play The Royal Family, a play about the family’s domestic abuse, an internationally known family. Groomed to continuing on the family legacy she was thrown in the entertainment industry at 11 months old appearing in a dog food commercial, at the age of 6 She landed her first big role in the Sci-Fi classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and 2 years later she found herself gaining respect as an actress for her work in Irreconcilable Differences. As it turned out her art would soon to be reflecting her reality, parental neglect, mental issues, older men and substance abuse dominate her childhood while landing a string of successful movies. She was dared to take a sip of champagne at home this was a frequent occurrence at 8 years old, at 11 years old, she was a full blown alcoholic, smoking marijuana at 12 and cocaine snorting at 13, it even lead to her autobiography Little Girl Lost which she released at 15. Soon after she got engaged at 16, a short lived relationship that took its toll on Drew, she went through a lot of unsuccessful relationship and her 3rd divorce in august of 2016, one that she’s currently regretting.
This was my first ever sza song I listen to and let just sayyyy I CRIED FOR LIKE 10 days A MF MASTER PIECE
Good days is better but yes
@@jaybee1526 and then you woke up
@@jaybee1526 I still prefer Drew Barrymore, just saying 🫣
I fucking LOVE Good Days
Drew Barrymore was the most love and hated bad girl of the 90s...
Jojo Saylor she really wasn’t ever hated. People felt so sorry for her and then rallied around her for a comeback. She was beloved in the late 90s up until now. It’s great how she overcame her addictions. That’s hard as hell to do.
@Jojo Saylor No one has ever "hated" Drew Barrymore....which is one of the things that is amazing about her as she is genuinely cool.
@@melissaallen3918 was there a reason sza titled this song drew barrymore, like do they have a special relationship lmao ive loved this song for years not even knowing why
Drew Barrymore is one of the most beloved actresses since the 80s since E.T and Firestarter
savannah j Apparently because Barrymore was a symbol of uniqueness for SZA growing up. She was quirky, a jagged piece of the puzzle.
what makes her cameo beautiful is that she supported with out being the focus of attention
“Who’s here in 2021” I never left
real OGs stay here
Why a somg about drew berrymode

YALL, that recent SZA and Drew Barrymore interview was so wholesome!! Had to come back to this classic song and music video, SZA is so cute and her humility is admirable!
Black magic. Black excellence. Black beauty. Black Brilliance. 🖤
Jordan Gohre I swear you stole my comment girl!!!
this song grew on me. Sza makes the type of music you find good the first time you listen, but amazing the 2/3/4th times.
V ee yessssssss.
V ee I hated this song at first now I love it
So true! Cant stop playing thid CD
yeaa
At first I didn't like this song but the video really helped me vibe with it and from that I actually listened to the lyrics. It's a pretty sad song because she's saying that she is so lonely that she is willing to give up her morals and that she is forgetting how much shes worth just to have something with someone. Even if that someone only cares about the sex she brings to the table. Most of all, she's dealing with loneliness. This is exactly how I been feeling lately.
moonrockers1962 😓😢
anyway still cant understand why is it called drew barrymore
diamander it's called Drew Barrymore because it's based off a movie Drew Barrymore was in.
Akuch Madut okay thanks
Akuch Madut what's the movie called?
The ending of the song where sza hugs her girls and was laughing just seems so peaceful and it is beautiful.. like pure happiness. I want that..
Anyone else think warm enough for ya sounds like woman enough for ya? Love the word play
That's what I thought she said at first
Zara Ahmed you are pretty
Y'all are forgetting that Drew Barrymore thanked Jimmy Fallon for letting SZA perform this song on his show 😂 Drew has been a fan!
feel this in my bones. being with someone who doesn't understand or appreciate you is true loneliness

holy shit can we just take a minute to talk about how amazingly talented SZA is???? also not to mention she's super gorgeous??? why? can't? I? be? this? great?
Ayla Leeman You are! Everybody has a lane, we mess up when we compare ourselves to others. If they're better then it's their time, their shine for their season. When you keep comparing, you're wasting crucial time to be ready when your season comes around.
@Cherrell Bovain
What a thoughtful and lovely reply! So rare these days, especially on YT. Your comment warmed my heart completely :)
Joe Drebit Awww 💜 Np
A. Leeman you prolly got some songs in you. Create them and have fun. Peace from sunnyFlorida.

But I still dream about her.
praying good things come your way
I love that Drew Barrymore only appeared for like 5 seconds. It made that cameo a whole lot more iconic. I feel like if the entire video was centred around Drew it would’ve felt like they were shoving that whole concept in our face. I just love that we got a hint of her. SZA and Drew are both gorgeous can I just say btw
Right! It was not a gratuitous cameo. This demonstrates SZA's capability to write metaphorically
Agree ❤
"I get so lonely, I forget what I'm worth
We get so lonely, we pretend that this works
I'm so ashamed of myself think I need therapy"
Damn, this part gets me every time...Love you SZA
Still listening to this song in 2025 with so much happiness. This is still by far one of my favourite Sza songs. So beautifully done ❤️

I can’t explain what I feel when I listen to this song. I don’t know if it is sadness or relief. I love you SZA 💙
This explains how i feel
Her vocals are incredible
It's amazing looking at a woman as gorgeous and talented as Sza, and finding out, through her songs, that she can be as insecure and lonely as any woman. I love her more every song I listen to.
cambiata yes I relate to her in so many ways. I especially love “Normal Girl”.

“We get so lonely, we pretend that this works.” So relatable ❤

I'd be willing to do a lot of things for a nice shot, but in such nice ass clothes? She has more guts than I do.
Same, but I know art requires sacrifices. This was one of those sacrifices in order for SZA to put it in the video, it's quite creative
Used to be obsessed with Drew Barrymore when I was a kid - still am -and this song is the perfect paragon of her.

Here after the interview with Drew

"Warm enough inside me"..
I can't believe SZA invented art.
like she really did that
I can't believe I like the way Sza expresses herself. Like she says everything I have felt myself and shares my insecurities which I don't speak openly about all the time so I love her for being so open and relatable and making catchy music and being an absolute gorgeous woman.
this is such a giid video too
nltcraze i agree! She’s so amazing for her honestly and vulnerability
I can she is a hippy type. Her personality doesn't live in a box. Creativity and imagination are huge here.

+The Islands who hurt your feelings buddy? Let that hurt go boo.
Fact is both men and women-if we are going by music- seem to have a thing for taking other people's lovers. Oh well
