In England they get retired. A handful of trainers keep them as pets, others work very closely with greyhound charities. The descant trainers will pay for any vet bills as well as donate money towards the charity. Usually within a few months the dogs have found a forever sofa. I have volunteered for a greyhound charity for over 10 years and on the very rare occasion we did see a few dogs come from bad trainers. As the years have progressed they are now few and very far between.
