    Great advice! I have had tinnitus for over 40 years and have had multiple spikes: I eventually habituated to all of them. In fact, I am 2 months into one now, after 8 years of habituation from my last one. I am using Oto this time...Good luck to you!

      Thank you for the comment and congratulations on habituating! It’s really inspiring to hear other stories with habituation success. Good luck with Oto 😊

      U had 40yrs of tinnitus. No cure . I had a sinus infection from AIR CONDITIONING in the ceiling, particles were breathed in at work. I have whooshing hissing beeping tones 4 over a year now. Blew nose hard and ears popped. Went deaf in right ear. Infection cleared with antibiotics(amoxicillin)from hospital. Hearing returns. Now this EMOTIONAL STRESS OF NOISE. Tried MASKING NOISES by headphones. 4 hours a day. Bit of a relief. Annoyingly Noise comes back.
      DR gave “brain blocker signal medication” didnt work, instead caused MEMORY PROBLEMS.
      THREW POISON TABLETS in THE BIN thats were they belong. Hearing back to normal
      Phoned hospital and was told Still on ENT waiting list. Appt due THIS Y E A R.
      Lack of DR’s ! It seems the “almighty creator” has overlooked earnoise.

      Hapituation doesn’t come easy you just can’t make it happen it happens naturally by itself it’s weird I know but that’s how it works and it takes time mine took 7 years for my habituation to happen a long long time thinking about that noise in you head and ears .

    I don’t care about the ringing, what I am struggling with is severe insomnia. I can fall asleep no problem but wake up sometimes within an hour or two and cannot sleep again for more than a couple hours and it even spikes and I haven’t slept straight since

    • @LetsTalkTinnitus

      I completely get this. This is what my audiologist told me…
      When we go sleep, we sleep in stages. After every stage we wake up briefly and we often do not notice this. For us with tinnitus, it’s easy to have this moment between cycles where we stay awake longer because we can hear our noise. Sometimes it can lead to us waking up for hours and not being able to get back to sleep.
      Sleeping with sounds help many people with this. Having a calming sound just a little louder than your tinnitus can be enough to keep you asleep and calm!
      Also, aromatherapy has been really calming for me. I use lavender oil in my diffuser every night and body now recognises this scent as sleep time! Worth a go☺️

      This happen to me two nights ago, sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night and the room comes alive and my bed room is haunted, or if i'm having a stroke. Sometimes I just lay there to see if I'm just dreaming or if this is really happening. Then I realise it's my ears and also my phone playing calming beach sounds and crickets. For a second there I really thought my room was haunted

    I have found that I am more myself when i am in the lab, because there are so many meshines making different tinnitus sounds that one of them is always on the right pitch. I am so happy to be back to working in a lab, it helps a lot to not work in a silent place.
    I am not yet in a stage I can read a book without white noise of some kind. but this is deffinitly a goala I have.
    I need tto journal more.

    I also have the feeling that caffeine like drinking coffee makes the tinnitus worse. I have a spike because I had so much stress and anxiety lately I try to calm my mind and soul and hopefully the loud noise will reduce soon.

      Sorry to hear about your experience with tinnitus. Unfortunately there’s no cure but there are ways to manage.
      Try not to stress as this can enhance your perception of tinnitus. Instead, focus on practising CBT. I found the Oto app really helpful to learn ways to incorporate exercises into my life with tinnitus.
      If you’re struggling and need someone to talk to, there’s help out there. Check out this website: tinnitus.org.uk/support-for-you/what-can-i-do/self-help-tips/#:~:text=For%20more%20information%20about%20tinnitus,just%20helps%20people%20with%20tinnitus.

      I currently use Loop engage earplugs for loud environments. It’s also worth thinking about getting fitted with moulded ones from an audiologist - they last a long time, easy to clean and typically have a higher dB protection

    Is it ok to just try to accept it and have no white noise or is it better to try to sleep with white noise?
    It's there any data on recovery? i couldn't find any, though i understand it's wishful thinking
    Thoughts on the new device, Lenire, which looks promising?

    I have had it since I am 17 and it was always alright to live with, I’m 25 now and since 6weeks it’s Realy loud and annoying even during the daytime, when I hardly noticed it a couple of months ago. I’m worried it will stay like this. Do you think it will return to my regular volume anytime?

    • @LetsTalkTinnitus
      @LetsTalkTinnitus  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not a medical professional but out of every person I’ve spoken to who has dealt with a spike, it has always returned to its original volume.
      It’s important to give yourself time. The more you focus on your tinnitus sound the more you will perceive it to be louder.
      I’ve found that getting peace of mind really helps to calm your thoughts and emotions - in return making you perceive the sound less. Definitely get checked up by a medical professional if you’re worried!☺️

      @@LetsTalkTinnitus thank you for your answer. Yeah it’s been bothering me quite a lot and I have visited a lot of doctors already. They all gave me diffrent medicine but nothing Realy helped. I also constantly think about the tinnitus, that might also not help it. Can spikes last for that long? Cause it’s especially hard to get some recovery, cause I can’t even lay down properly, cause when I lay on 1 of my ears the sound just gets louder. I Realy hope it will go back to the volume it used to be. Thanks for ur kind words.

    Hi Caris! Thank you for this video, fortunately my tinnitus is mild and I habituated 100%, I'm sure this video will help immensely other people💕
    I wanted to ask you, do you have problems with the dentist?🥲
    I'll have to get a root canal soon and this means some drilling in my tooth, on the side of my tinnitus side and veeeeeery close to my inner ear, the drill can be very loud, did you have any spikes from the noise?
    This is the only thing that it's scaring me a lot lol

    • @LetsTalkTinnitus
      @LetsTalkTinnitus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t had any major surgeries in regards to the dentist so I’m not too sure. Everyone is different when it comes to triggers for the louder days with tinnitus. I’d definitely advise to wear hearing protection though! Make sure to make them aware you have tinnitus and they will properly have some hearing protection there for you. Wishing you all the best!! 🤍
