I decided to take a closer look at supply drops, cod points, and the new weapons to determine whether or not Black Ops 3 is Pay To Win (P2W), and here is what I got…
Can you open supply drops for free? - Yes, with cryptokeys.
Are the new weapons obviously overpowered and offer a huge advantage over guns that are already in the game? - No, unless the weapons are in the right hands.
Is the drop rate for new weapons consistent or fair? - My testing was too limited to get a clear answer, but I’d say no.
Supply drops, COD points, and the newly added weapons are currently NOT Pay To Win in my opinion, but we’re nearly at the tipping point for what could go wrong…
If the MX Garand or Marshal 16 were in the game from the start, no one would care. BUT, if something like the M8A7 or MR6 were added later on, the system would be 100% Pay To Win and broken as booce.
If Treyarch has plans to release even more weapons, we better hope that none of them have the potential to overpower any other weapons that already come with the game, otherwise this game will die fast…

The marshals in my opinion were too OP for a pistol/shotgun type gun, the range in which you could kill was like an SMG range, but after they were nerfed to have to be close range to kill they weren't as much pay to win since they acted like a Shotgun/Pistol and not a sniper

It doesn't matter if the weapons are good or not. You still pretty much have to pay to win. If you play the game to get cryptokeys you have such a little chance of getting a new dlc weapons.

Hey, the executioner in black ops 2 is a great weapon, I've got 20 kills in a row without dying just because I had the scavenger perk plus long barrel that basically doubles the range for it and fast reload which in total gave me a beast of a weapon and a lot of spare points for other costumig, if someone read it this far I hope that you'll understand that I just wanted to speak out, that's all
If there are Supply Drops in Cod that contain weapons, (I don't know if this system is in another game, BTW.) then they should make specific categories for them. Imagine yourself trying to get the HG-40, but instead, after so much grinding or Money-Spending, you get the Kitty Calling Card. Frustating, right? They should have everything in categories so you can somewhat guarantee that you're gonna get something. For example, you can have, "New Weapons category, Specialist Item category, Calling Card category." etc. You could still get them with Cryptokeys or Real Money. I think this would be a Win-Win situation, because Activision will still get their profit, but you can guarantee you're gonna get something good. That's just my opinion.

The drops aren't random, there's obviously less chance to get weapons on PS4 because most people who have Black Ops 3 are playing on PS4. This is because the PS4 outsold the Xbox One by a shit ton, and the PS4 gets DLCs before any other platform for Black Ops 3. They rig the chances on PS4 knowing more people are going to spend money on PS4 than on Xbox or PC.
