Excellent review, very helpful information for what type of rider this bike is geared towards and the pricing. Can you also add, if you haven't done so included any unique details that is not listed by the manufacturer. Something that'll catch someone's interest and hopefully get to start riding.

I own the 2022 Giant Trance 27.5" in aluminum ( size M ) same bike that you reviewed in your channel , I hate the fact that is black all over ( they could have slapped at least a couple of colored stickers on the downtube ) but overall , this bike is a dream and more than enough for my riding needs but that marin Hawk Hill is a dream come true . I picked up the bike after your review if it . I started riding in Spain in 2003 and I haven't stopped eversince , I'm 5'8" , 58 years old , very , very healthy and kind of look like you . If I hadn't gone for the Giant , I'd probably had that bike in my house . One last thing ...... I love your channel .

Thanks! I love the looks of this bike. Sharp enough to look great but not a colour combination that will look dated by next year.

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop

Kinda tough to answer. A smooth, lighter rider would probably be fine... a heavy rider could have wheel, crank and/or fork issues. The frames are tough but many of the components lighter duty

@@curtisbrumwell84 almost exactly the same but the Rift Zone with the 29 inch wheels has 65.5 degree head angle and the Hawk Hill with the 27.5 wheels that is now changed names to the Rift Zone 27.5 has 66.5 degree head angle. I have a 2021 Hawk Hill 2. I got one of the last ones before the name change. Great bike. Perfect head angle at 66.5. I wouldn't want it any slacker...its perfect.

I'm old school and have been stuck in my ways for a long time. I've ridden on and off a lot of different two wheeled things over the years (42 years old) my current bike is an old hardtail with two forks old school Z1 drop off and a Junior T. all I've ever ridden is 26' hard tail and it's time for a little cushion on the rear end. That explained here's my opinion on your videos, they are pretty informative but I'm always wanting a little more information because I've been hiding under a rock for a very long time and all the new mountain bike tech and parts are greek to me again. they use some of the same words like Deore but I don't know where that lands in the current line up for Shimano. I would love to see videos that explain components from entry level to high level with pros and cons of each one sprinkled in.I need a little help learning about how the new stuff works and doesn't work so I make a good choice when I buy a new bike... That being said I'm probably going to buy this bike if I can get my hands on one that fits me during the covid shortage

Really looking at the 2022 Rift Zone 2 to replace my loved 2005 Giant Reign 2. My Giant is really old, but I had it built back in 2005, rode it for maybe a year and went full into motocross. So, the Giant is pretty much like new. Trying to decide if I should just run the Giant until it fails, or get a more modern bike now. The main things that the Marin will offer me i think are dropper seat post and 27.5 wheels. My Reign is really well speced out, so not sure those two things are worth it. Any insight?

You could almost pick these bikes on the colour/brand you prefer. Really good bikes all around. The one that initially gets you the most stoked to ride might be the easiest way to pick.

I'm looking to get the hawk hill as my first FS MTB. Is the $800 price difference worth it for the 3 over the 2? I'm looking to keep the bike for a while and don't plan on upgrading components. Is there a significant difference between the two? I've never ridden a FS so I don't have an opinion or preference yet.

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop

If you aren't an aggressive rider and the terrain you ride is mellow you may not notice the difference. If you are aggressive, or have more demanding terrain (steeper/chunkier descents), the suspension and brake upgrade on the 3 becomes more evident and makes the step up in price worth it.
