It’s incredible how much I can relate to how you’re feeling. I also appreciate the simplicity of decorating and using vintage items and pieces that have been in the family for decades. Love how your home looks ❤ I’m very happy that I found your channel
My first time finding your channel, and I have subscribed. I appreciate your honesty about how you were feeling this year, and about powering through and completing things for your family. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I just found your channel and find your honesty inspiring. This has been a tough season for me too. My husband has been so sick this year. I too wasn’t sure if I could pull it together to decorate and create a joyful home. As it got closer I realized that it wasn’t about me! Not that I had forgotten but certainly was very distracted! Once I realized that I was able to hop into gear -we had a birthday to celebrate!! It was simple yet amazing and Our Lord used this time to change our hearts from sadness to hope❤
I love this. I always get stressed out at Christmas so I just don’t care anymore. I have up what the expectations people have towards me and keep it very simple. A tree, a centerpiece and some cedar and pinecones on the piano. No presents, just spending time with the family. It has helped so much. Glad you are inspired and lifted out of the depression feeling. Enjoy the simplicity ❤️
I think you have done a beautiful job. The simplicity of your Christmas decor is calming and lovely. Wishing you higher spirits in the weeks and years to come.
I felt the same this year for no reason at all…….. I worked through it because I love this season, but like you…my heart wasn’t into decorating…not feeling the season as before. I kept it simple this year too and enjoyed my friends and family. Focus is always Christ and that’s the reason for the season. 🙏🏻❤
I agree! All years are different and I do different things. Thanks for the reminder that it is about God! Sending you hugs to get you through your trials 😊.
Very sweet! Seriously, Martha Stewart could not have done better. I think that Christmas decorating is all about the greenery. Lucky you that you have a live cedar tree that you can harvest. And I am pea green with envy over your crochet doilies. Just recently I have been desiring to use doilies - I never have in the past. They really add a great touch. Would you like me to tell you what I see that is so great about you? This is the first time watching you so my observations are just from this video. First of all, you are beautiful. You have a very beautiful face. And you are slender and seem to be in good physical health - lucky you! You have a wonderful sense of style - no kidding. Your home is wonderfully decorated - it looks like a home from a magazine on country living. Beautiful. You seem to be a very honest, down to earth person, and tender hearted. You have a husband and a child who love you and who you love. You all are truly blessed. Most of all, you have a wonderful and strong sense of the Lord. Another wonderful blessing. Many, many people do not have these things. I think this year millions of people are struggling with all kinds of problems - financial, personal, health, and just a feeling of being lost and empty. One more log on the bonfire is when we come down with depression. That really slows us down. I would like to share with you my tips for handling that plague, if you don't mind. First of all, the depression is not you. It's something that you catch like a cold. It doesn't define who you are. It is separate from you so don't think of it as being "me." So, at Christmas time, go ahead and do that decorating - don't respect the depression - do what you would normally do. Also, think of the future - make plans and goals - that helps me tremendously. There is always tomorrow even if today is laden with difficulties. And no, there will never be a time when life will be smooth and trouble free. It's guaranteed to be a bumpy ride. Our job is to just laugh at it. Don't give those bumps in the road any respect. So, to put a fine point on it, would you like me to tell you what my challenge is this Christmas? I am not being mean, dramatic, or sensationalizing this but my daughter is clinically defined as a psychopath. I am convinced that last Monday, she tried to poison me. She breaks into my house and goes through my things. She hates me because I tell the truth and will not acquiesce to her version of things. And since she is such a convincing, conscience free liar, everyone doubts what I say. People watch movies about these kinds of people all the time, but, when they are faced with one in real life, they just want to stick their head in the sand like an ostrich. I have to stay here because I am trying to protect and run interference for my grandchildren. I think that if I were not here, their lives would be hell. She inherited this from her father. Her father tried to kill me before he left. Just about every night, I cry over this. My own daughter. But every morning I get up and put one foot in front of the other and march on. The Lord gives me strength to get through each day. Merry Christmas! May you have a wonderful Christmas! 🎄🦌🤶💙😊😉🙏 P.S. You know who you should read - just for enjoyment - see if your library carries the book "Wintering" by a wonderful English lady and author, Katherine May. It's a great book. After I read it, I gave up on the notion of becoming a writer. But it sounds as if that is what you need - "a season of wintering." And Katherine is autistic. You may not agree with her viewpoints and feelings, but she is very honest about her experiences and feelings on several topics including depression. There is also a wonderful recitation of it on Audible.
I enjoyed your thoughts on the season we are in. I liked the simple decor that is so special. My Christmas was beautiful because myself and children love the Lord and understand what Christmas is about. Right now between Xmas and New Year’s I am still focusing on my Savior and I am sure you are too. May God bless you richly.
Hello! New subscriber here. Your home makes my heart melt. So beautiful! I miss my farmhouse soooo much but I am in a different place in life now but I was happy to have had it. You did a great job putting your home together for the holidays. Beautiful ❤😊
You put into words exactly how i felt this Christmas season. I had a tital knee replacement in Nov which may have a lot to do with my mood but before that I decorated everything inside and on the porches for the fall season. I just about decided to keep all tgat decor up for Christmas but didn't. I just put out a few candles and some little faux greenery I had and that was it. And Im ok with it. Glad to know im not the only one.
This has been the best video I’ve seen all season. Your life is mirroring mine. I was able to cut berries and cedar from my yard and place around my house, which is the same style as yours. Age and health problems prevented me from dragging all those boxes out of the attic. I love the simplicity and beauty of nature. Best of luck with everything and a very happy new year 🎊
I am just watching you for the first time, from England, and I have to say I adore your home decor. It is so tasteful, traditional and calming. You have a beautiful home. x
I appreciated this so much. Circumstances have kept me from doing any decorating this year. It's tough, but I've accepted that it just isn't happening. There's always next year, right?
I love it. When other decorating influencers show a glitzy interior and say “and this is from Hobby Lobby, and I have linked this below, and that is available on Amazon,” etc., I feel it’s just a glorified shopping channel. So thank you for keeping it authentic ❤❤❤ Edit: I subscribed. Merry Christmas! 🎄
I to have struggled to be in the Christmas Spirit and I’ve heard other TH-camrs say the same. I’m not sure what it is, but I knew for my family I had to push on. I did and I think your home was so beautiful because it was simple and that’s what I love. It’s ok when we feel like this, but the real reason to celebrate is the birth of Jesus and that’s all that matters. A little can be beautiful when we celebrate the true reason of Christmas.
I was also very behind this year as well. Finally did get things up but kept it simpler than usual. You have a lovely serene sense of style. I was thinking how your family must also have loved all of the subtle but special touches that you made to the home you all share. 😊
You're not behind. Sometimes we have to go with the flow of things. Stop to smell the roses, or pine. I love your home and channel, I subscribed. Makes me want to start my house all over. Hahaha! I decorated with winter things and for went all Santa stuff and did not put up a tree. No one visiting this year and I want to do away with traditional commercial Christmas trappings, so over it. Has nothing to do with Santa Clause or all the hoopla. Wish I did that when my children were little. So, take it easy, honor the Lord Jesus Christ. love one another and it all will be ok. It is ok to be smile and rest and just be with family. Its not about gifts or buying things for people, I have even stopped that. Guess what I did not miss the tree. Peace!
I know what you mean - I was stretched so thin - obligations, work and others' expectations that I got sick. I decorated the mantle in the living room and that's it. I love your elegant, simple, and frugal decor. I am wishing you a happy holiday and a fresh New Year.
I love your Simple Decorations of Natural Greenery. Less is Always More, so I've heard. I too am not "Feeling It" this Christmas. Too much Turmoil in the world has gotten me down. December will be over soon, thank goodness. Hoping your Christmas and Worshipping Our Lord and Savior brings you Comfort and Joy. GOD BLESS!!
I love the cute cedar sprigs in your creamers… Your home looks comfy. New sub. You are doing it the right way…remembering why we celebrate Christmas… we are older now and our daughter and family live in another state. My husband and I are grateful to be together.
I love your decor! This year has been different for me as well, we were sick for Thanksgiving and were late decorating for Christmas. Simplicity seems right this year.
Me either. I have side stepped the commercialism and chose to find a place where they were serving food for those who don't have family this year. What a wonderful time we all had. I have never done this, it will certainly become more of a focus for me in the future
Love the simplicity. I also am not feeling it this yr . But when you have kids you have to get up and do something for them . Feb will be 10 yrs of my sisters passing and it’s very hard . Her killer is still lose living life like nothing 😢
My first time here and I love your style. This video was so calming and peaceful to watch and you decorated beautifully! I have subscribed and look forward to future videos. Would you be willing to share the name of the book you displayed opened to the hymn titled “What Child is This”?
Wish you were my neighbor! In a 100 years old farmhouse after giving up my new, super modern dream home. Would love to bring back the true character of the home.

Depressing hear you complaining. I could not focus on your beautiful decor as I wish. I am assuming you have a roof over your head, cloth on your body and food on your table and the most beautiful gift of all in our lives which is His salvation from our sins. Well I believe that is more than enough to be grateful and make the best of any bad situation without feeling sorry for oneself. Don’t waste your time feeling sorry for yourself. It is time that you will not get back. Merry Christmas and God bless you! Not judging to just reality.
She knows all that. Nothing wrong with sharing our feelings with each other. Lord says to do so and left each other up. In my opinion and nothing against you because I do not even know you but someone who says act happy ad make me comfortable because I am al that step above you is part of the problem. We are human beings with feelings, and we have our up and down seasons in life. Only perfect person who walked this earth was Christ. He says up lift and pray for one another, not condemn others. So many sad this time of year loneliness, memories of past loved ones and past Holidays. You could say here is a hug we all been there once or twice. We are to humble ourselves and esteem the other higher than ourselves. Bible says that not me. Not judging you though just giving you a dose of your own reality. Peace!
I agree with the frugal Christmas decor.
Ive stopped watching some channels for Christmas due to the over the top decor.
There is beauty in simplicity. Thank you for sharing your thoughts this holiday season. Merry Christmas.😊
