Halloween idea: what if the kids make their own “house” out of cardboard or other supplies and they can go trick or treat at each others “houses”. They can decorate them and each have a theme if they want and they can still get the trick or treat experience
Halloween idea: each door in the house can be a different “house”. The doors can be decorated and have house numbers etc. The kids can go trick or treating around the house!
What about an old fashioned Halloween party? I remember having lots of fun at those back in the day. There were Halloween themed treats, bobbing for apples, and the most fun was the ghost story that was told while we were blind folded and at certain parts of the story bowls of “eyeballs” were passed around but it was really peeled grapes. There were other things like spaghetti for “worms.” I wish I could remember more of the items. I just remember how creepy and fun it was. There are lots of kid friendly Halloween movies too! And you could have games where there are prizes and you can even have a sort of Easter egg hunt where you hide candy inside of plastic skulls or something and hide them around the yard. Scarecrow making would be fun and then you can display them in your garden!
I love these ideas ❤️. I have a few to add. If you have a large driveway or side yard, you could also have a family trunk-or-treat. Each car has its own theme, decor, and special treats! Since the kids are so great in the kitchen it could be really fun for them to make some of the old fashioned treats like candied/caramel apples and popcorn balls. Maybe even a Halloween house (think gingerbread house but Halloween) ❤️❤️❤️
Maybe hide candy around the house and have them find it. Kind of like Easter. Because just getting candy without working for it is no fun. Itll be fun to find it. And definitely have colleens family there
@@darcison that's sounds fun to do in the dark. But idk how safe itll be in the dark with the little ones. Plus they might want to record it for us. Maybe dimmer lights
I used to have a lot of fun making "haunted houses" in my house's basement, for example -Hanging spooky objects you might find in an old house from the ceiling with fishing line -Playing scary music -Creating some sort of creepy video background loop to maybe play on a TV or projector. -Set up a gory or gross scene at a "kitchen table", maybe fake blood in cups or old food -Have someone dressed up in a scary mask/costume to jumpscare people around a corner I used to love doing this and being creative with my friends and siblings, so maybe your family could do something like this. Or maybe the kids could set it up and have the adults walk through! That's always what I liked to do.
Look at Lukey eating cheerios all by himself! Honestly he is doing so amazing and I know about his microdeletion, but I would never recognize anything different about him if you didn't acknowledge it on your channel. He is so strong and clever, and I bet you he's going to do just fine
Adella Averill I love this idea!! Miranda steals their Halloween candy!! I thought of maybe hiding candy in plastic eggs around their house and backyard but I love this more!
What I’m doing for Halloween is dressing up in onesies, decorating my room fall theme ofc, baking fall treats, eating candy, playing scary games, doing fall crafts, and watching spooky movies with friends (We would completely quarantine ourself for 2~ weeks before meeting up) :)
Do “trunk or treat” have family and friends meet up at a parking lot & decorate their cars trunk in a theme (or anything under for Halloween)...then add candy for the kids. This way you can trick or treat from a good distance and have tons of fun. We did this a church one year & it was super fun.
You could do what we normally do at the school I teach at. Let each kid (classroom) decorate their room, maybe plan an activity to do in that room (coloring pages for the younger ones, maybe a game or a puzzle in the older rooms), and even plan a treat to give out and then the kids can knock on each kids door and visit their room.
I watched yesterday's vlog and forgot to comment this amazing book series suggestion for Bailey! ”The Mortal Instruments” by Cassandra Clare is great for preteens and up! There are so many prequels and sequels to those books I think she would love them!💗
Halloween Idea: Turn your house into a cute haunted house and have a bunch of fun games for the kids at home! :) Whoever is reading this you are loved!
Halloween ideas: you have a big backyard make use of it! You can set up game stations like a church would have (ex: cake walk, corn hole, etc.). This is where they can “trick or treat” and get candy by winning games! You can also have fun with them by making Carmel apples and fun treats. Then of course there’s movie night! Watch a fun Halloween classic!
I have an idea for another version of trick or treating: Every parent hides somewhere in the house with some candy and whenever a kid finds one of the parents he/she gets a candy. When every kid found a parent, he/she hides somewhere else and waits for all the kids to come find him/her to get a candy
So the parent basically moves around the house and takes the candy with him. He changes his place every time, when he has counted the kids and every kid got a candy while being at this particular spot. Meanwhile the kids try to find every parent to get a candy and when they have found every parent, they try to find the parents at their new hiding spot.
@@kyac4487 I just thought that that way the parents could get involved too, it could be a family game, like hide and seek, but halloween themed and if you play it in a decorated house there may be even more hiding spots than usual
Darkwing Duck yea I get that, ur idea is cool but I think most of them are a little old besides Duncan to see parents hiding idk I just think hiding the candy would be better lmao
I seriously can't believe how fast Luke has progressed in SUCH a short time with his sitting, CRAWLING, getting his food to his mouth, and now STANDING?! Kid is on a major roll and GETTING. IT. and its so awesome to see!! You guys are doing such a freaking awesome job, as always, and it's just always so refreshing to come to a wholesome family channel. I seriously love you guys so much, and I'm trying to figure out what to do for halloween too bc its like my christmas, its my biggest holiday of the year and I wanna be able to give kids treats safely. I've come up with a few possible ideas but I'm not even sure they will be out to get them either so super sad day for spooky season, breaks my black heart. xoxo
You could do a trunk or treat thing. Go to an empty parking lot at a store or church or something. And bring your family or friends with their cars and candy. When you get there, open your trunks so that the kids can reach the candy. Have one family/a few kids get out of their cars at a time. And everyone else stay in their car. You could even decorate your car to have a theme. If you did it this way, everyone could be safe, and you could still have fun on halloween. They could even have hand sanitization stations every few cars, and everyone would wear masks. Does that seem fun?
Luke has come a long way. Earlier he won't put things/food in mouth voluntarily but now he does! Previously he won't use his left hand to hold stuff but now he does!! God bless lukey. Good job luke!!! Love ❤
Seeing these vlogs and social media posts from Americans makes me so forever grateful I live in NZ. We got rid of covid in a matter of weeks and when it showed up again we've done really well and it's very nearly gone again.
You have a huge backyard it would be so fun to hide candy around and maybe set up some scares throughout. My family if we dont trick or treat will be having a small get together with some friends who are also quarentined and were gonna have music and halloween snacks and still have costumes and everything.
One Easter when the weather outside was terrible, we strung yarn ALL around our home. A different color for each child. Around table legs, behind the couch, into closets, everywhere. The kids each had to wind their yarn and track it all around to finally discover their Easter baskets! We were so worried they'd think it was boring and a let down, but lemme tell you! That was over 10 years ago, our kids are 20 and 25, and they STILL rave about it! Bonus parent points!! 💗
I don’t know why but little Luke stole my heart today. Found myself cheering him on to eat his Cheerios and tear down the tower! 👶🏻 ❤️ you guys are great!
It makes me so happy to see Luke crawling and bringing food to his mouth :) I remember they were working on feeding himself and he's doing so well now!
My Family is going to be going all out crafting and decorating the house and the backyard. Then on Halloween make spooky treats and watch Disney+ Halloween movies. I think it would be SUPER COOL if you guys decorated the house and then the backyard can turn into a haunted trail with candy or activity stops. You could play music and then have the final stop be movie night and spooky treats in the backyard with the movie projected on the side of the house (or inside if the weather/temperature was not cooperating.
I feel like a halloween themed escape room would be great. And then to have all the adults in the family pod take a room (like a house) and the kids can a few do laps around the house. Whatever you guys do I know it will be adorable and lots of fun!
You guys should write a parenting book or something! When I have kids, I’d love for my kids to be like yours. They’re all so well mannered, so curious and such great helpers and listeners. I absolutely love your gentle parenting style! 💕
My baby goes crazy over your intro. She's only 13 months right now but she loves you guys so much ❤ I've gotten so many great tips from your videos with raising my daughter. I aspire to be great parents like the both of you! You all are great role models ❤
Jacob...you're adorable and hilarious! I can't even! Your kids bring so much hapiness and life and joyful magic to your family channel. Love you guys! Grateful to be a subscriber. 😊
Outschool has some classes/games/parties for Halloween. Also, doing a lil decorating of Harry Potter/The Walking Dead theme and jus Halloween atmosphere. Having "special" foods. Pumpkin pancakes for breakfast, making caramel apples, fondue pot with chocolate for fruit, pretzels, marshmallows & another pot for cheese, bread, veggies. Watching Halloween movies. Wearing costumes all the while.
Halloween escape room! And with Colleen and Rachel and grandParents, everyone goes in a room and the kids go to each room, knock and do a trick or treat there
I think a mini costume party with your quarantine pod is good! Everyone (including your parents and the adults) can and should dress up, give each other candy, do halloween activities, etc. Also: picking out pumpkins, doing pumpkin carving/painting, and stuff like that is all totally COVID friendly and can be done before halloween
So my elementary school always did a spooky obstacle course. There was spooky music and the lights were turned down and a smoke machine. It was always so fun and you got a piece of candy each time you completed it. If you fell off the course you had to restart
I love your family you guys make me laugh. Lately it has been very hard with work and my college classes with COVID still alive. But I have been managing. Your videos have been helping me stay upbeat and happy!!
I think whatever you decide to do will be amazing. Here's an idea you could go to Colleen's house and have different rooms decorated and the kids could go to each room as if they were trick or treating. You could even have a fun activity in each room. Another idea is a scavenger hunt where the kids collect pieces of candy along the way and have a prize or a mini party at the end. You could do a Halloween escape room. And you could do a combination of some of these things and it would be awesome. As a side note I'm originally from New Jersey and one year Halloween was canceled due to a blizzard. Luckily my house still had power so a couple of my friends and family came over and we made Halloween cake and played games. We even put together costumes and had a costume contest. I know whatever you come up with will be great especially after seeing Christmas in August and Jacob's birthday. I hope you are doing well and staying safe and I hope you have a wonderful week.
When I was little we would always get together with some family friends with kids our age and do weird games like wrapping people in tp with a contest for who’s looked the best and have the whole house very well themed (like Pinterest perfect before Pinterest) with a haunted house set up that all the dads dressed up for, those were my favorite Halloween memories.
So I'm late in commenting, but I've read some good ideas. The one I really liked was that you hide candy around the house (or just in certain rooms, either individual pieces or small treat bags), then you give the kids flashlights and glow sticks, turn off the lights and let them hunt for the candy. Another idea I saw was to get a pinata and let the kids whack at that to get the candy. Oh, and you can play spooky music during the candy hunt too. I think this is a great time to make new memories and traditions since the original way is not as safe right now. I love that the kids make their own costumes! I can't wait to see everyone's costumes this year.
A costume idea could be that all the kinds are the five emotions of the movie inside out and Chris and Jessica could be the parents of riley or bingbom and a core worker.
Spooky/cute escape room or scavenger hunt for treats at auntie panties house! Or maybe she can decorate all her room doors with a different theme and the kids can knock on each door for some candy!
A really great memory I have from childhood is spending Halloween night at a school event each year playing sort of like carnival type games for Halloween prizes. It was SO fun. You could make your house/yard into a series of Halloween games and have lots of food and prizes. 🍬🕸🎃👻
House party with family and have stations with different adults giving them candy at each station. Do games afterwards, finger foods, etc. I think it would be fun for the whole family to experience and get the grand parents on board.
Setup a pop up, wrap with dark cloth or other material. Hang glow sticks inside and lay straw, mix in candy and have a dark/glow candy hunt. Sounds fun
me and my household are having a cute little halloween party with just us! were gonna have a halloween movie marathon, make fun desserts/snacks, eat a ton of candy, dance idk just have a fun time all while wearing our costumes ofc!
My mom always does a kid friendly Halloween party in our living room with black lights and strobe lights playing Halloween music with streamers and other Halloween decor! We all dress up and pass out candy while our party is going on! Since most likely we won't be passing out candy this year my mom is still planing on having this party for my nieces and nephews!
You should give each family member a room to decorate/theme and then the kids can go to the doors of that room and it can have an activity/riddle/candy so it’s still like trick or treating but in their own house
Halloween party idea: Decorate and play games with family! Maybe you could make another escape room for them! Watching Halloween movies and baking/cooking fun Halloween treats are always a plus! I can't wait to see what you guys do, but I know whatever you choose it will be super fun and memorable! (:
Have each family member set up and design a super cooool booth (everyone can make one, the kids, the grandparents, aunts) and put them all around the yard and have the kids trick or treat at them. Set up a projector movie, and little games like a fair. I think that would be so special!
I used to live overseas where Halloween wasn’t a cultural holiday so we had to celebrate as a family and we all helped make a piñata and then filled it with candy!
One year a child was sick in my family so to not leave them out of the fun we all stayed home played all kinds of games and "won" candy then had "family time" watching. The movie Halloween town. Soooo fun and this year i plan to do this again
One thing that I have thought of is that you could take a bunch of bowls with candy in them and put them around the house and or yard and you could give each bowl a name and they can go around and get one from each house
What my family is doing for Halloween is we are trick or treating in our back yard. Basically like a scavenger hunt but with each clue there is candy. I'm honestly really excited to do something different.🎃🕸🧹
Halloween idea: what if the kids make their own “house” out of cardboard or other supplies and they can go trick or treat at each others “houses”. They can decorate them and each have a theme if they want and they can still get the trick or treat experience

OMG that’s an amazing idea
Such a fun idea 😍
Also have the grandparents aunts uncles and cousins in places to pass out candy as well.
Super cute idea!

Omg u r like the only person who spells ur name the same as me!!!
That's also a great idea!!!

I like this but remember they are vary quarantine so they may not want to have a party but its an amazing idea
The idea of bobbing for apples is nasty even without Corona! I like the general idea though.
Kateryna Rose Well they could have their family over, and it’s a full size party right there.
I love these ideas ❤️. I have a few to add. If you have a large driveway or side yard, you could also have a family trunk-or-treat. Each car has its own theme, decor, and special treats!
Awww I could see Luke's little tooth at 6:56 ❤ strong little man!
hooray!! cheerios!!! Luke looks so cute feeding himself
Jessica’s laugh is... something else 😂😂
"Eeeeaassteerrr" XD
Luke experimenting with his food and the can was so cute and neat to watch
Oh my god Luke is feeding himself?!? What a big boy!!!! I literally gasped and got so excited when that came up!! Great job luke!!
Haha I was starting to watch the original and it cut off
Here we go again
Luke is the spitting image of Christopher, it’s kind of amazing. Totally a mini me situation 💖
I just want to know what changed
same
Same
Probably a technical issue like background music that was too loud or something like that. Usually it's something we wouldn't even notice.
@Marjol yea, we all know that Christopher is such a perfectionist 😂
( I’m not judging, I am too)

Who else loves the ballenger family !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg, I want to see some magic tricks!!
No awkward pause here!
Love you all & all your videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ such a fantastic family
You should give each family member a room to decorate/theme and then the kids can go to the doors of that room and it can have an activity/riddle/candy so it’s still like trick or treating but in their own house
Halloween party idea: Decorate and play games with family! Maybe you could make another escape room for them! Watching Halloween movies and baking/cooking fun Halloween treats are always a plus! I can't wait to see what you guys do, but I know whatever you choose it will be super fun and memorable! (:
I love trunk or treat! Have a group of friends decorate their trunks and socially distanced and safely for trunk to trunk getting treats dressed up
Have each family member set up and design a super cooool booth (everyone can make one, the kids, the grandparents, aunts) and put them all around the yard and have the kids trick or treat at them. Set up a projector movie, and little games like a fair. I think that would be so special!
Halloween backyard carnival where the older kids and some of the adults get to plan/decorate a small booth and create their own prizes?
I used to live overseas where Halloween wasn’t a cultural holiday so we had to celebrate as a family and we all helped make a piñata and then filled it with candy!
Glow in the dark eggs!! Like a spooky Easter egg hunt!!
you guys are raising some really incredible humans! :)
I love Jacob as he says “ awkward pause” 🤣
My first immediate thought was ghostbusters with vacuums to trick or treat while social distancing~😂
What my family is doing for Halloween is we are trick or treating in our back yard. Basically like a scavenger hunt but with each clue there is candy. I'm honestly really excited to do something different.🎃🕸🧹
I feel like luke has developed like crazy in just a month!! Hes so happy
