- Detailed review and test of the 2024 Volkswagen Touareg facelift, including new price, models, V6 engine, handling, specs and more.
Volkswagen has repriced its Touareg large SUV with a few thousand dollars off on the base 170TDI grade (plus a bunch of previously optional equipment now included), while the 210TDI Elegance and 210TDI R-Line grades have had their prices slashed by higher amounts.
The Touareg is a rival to the likes of the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE - and even the Toyota Prado Kakadu and Ford Everest Platinum.

Thank heavens it does not have 7 seats. Not everyone wants to carry around a tribe or the extra weight of unwanted seats. Thanks for spending some time talking about the headlights too, although it would be nice if there was some footage of them in use, something that seems sadly lacking in almost every car review since the beginning of time.
Volkswagen was keen to point out that many people like yourself prefer a five-seat layout, though I know some would appreciate the option in an SUV this big.
We purchased a Tiguan Allspace Adventure, 5 seater, no need for 7 in our case. More boot space and can fit a full size spare. A great car at 60% of the price.
Correct!
AU doesn't get the VW Atlas. If so, the whole picture completes and everyone gets what they want(5 or 7 seats) happily.
Yep it's the opposite for me. No 7 seat is disappointing.
10:30 Are we reviewing the same car here?
Whoops! Mixed up the 'T' names. My apologies - TP
Unless you're absolutely enamored by the shape or are one of those 'I must have European cars' kinda ppl, I can't see why anyone would pick this over a Mazda CX60 for example. The price doesn't make any sense.
The toureg starts at around 96K and that's for the base model whilst even the mid spec CX60 D50e GT will arguably have a better interior despite sporting a smaller screen, definitely have a more powerful (and yet more economical) engine and cost around 70K. You can also argue it would be a better car than the Toureg elegance since it will come loaded with features like panoramic sunroof and whatnot. Even if you splash for the top spec Azami and you'd STILL be ahead by over 10k. And I'm not even gonna go into the reliability of each manufacturer...
You just can't justify the asking price. Either needs to VW really rethink this or there are more fools than I'd expected out there.
@4:20 - Has VW resolved the issue via a Touchscreen software update?
Didn’t show spare wheel type?
+9K for drive away? seems crazy
Beautiful dashboard
It is!… but for some reason it doesn’t looks anywhere “as nice” as the previous Touareg (beige interior) I saw recently. Maybe it’s because it’s filmed, black interior or a subtle change in styling!?🤷♂️
Agreed, hate the dashes that have superglued a large iPad on the dash
It's a Touareg, not a Tiguan @10:32mins change please
Upcoming prodo 250 will be best seller in this medium suv segment unless VW drops their price around 65-70k drive away
Its a great vehicle
that lower grill gets bigger and bigger with every update
what happened to tom baker? hasn't done a review for a while
It sounded a little like an advertorial to me... should we really be praising a cargo blind? Anyhow, the most useful feature that I heard is the range (1400km on highway). This would be handy for interstate travelling with a family on board. The least useful feature... the 15 inch screen.... drivers need to spend their time driving, not playing with a bloody screen.
EDIT: I almost forgot... No car should be towing a trailer that is heavier than the vehicle itself. Anyone doing this is just asking for trouble. It's irresponsible of manufacturers to advertise this. Besides, with a 280kg maximum lowball weight, you might struggle to get a 3.5 tonne trailer attached (rule of thumb is about 10%).
Unfortunatly this is how many car review channels work. Many get paid by car brands for ‘reviews’. Look at the current flood of chinese car reviews by oz channels.
It's not how this car review channel works, as any of our subscribers are keenly aware of.
It has good payload because the tow ball weight is below average. Then you have to put a full size spare in the boot because there is a space saver. There is no way I would tow around remote parts of the country with a space saver as the back up. Then there is VW’s dismal reputation at the dealership. Good car, not a good tow car for touring.
Depreciation! in 6 years time it’ll be worth about as much as a Pajero sport 🤣
$100 K for a VW ! You are joking !?
100k for a Toyota!
Volkswagen makes Audi and always with the Touareg it fought with BMW and Mercedes.
Which planet do you live on?
This platform is the same as the Porsche.
@@acde9355 yea the difference between the two is that Toyota will be much more reliable and would definitely have better resale value.
When they start making reliable cars maybe their sales will also pick up.
I would be worried about the reliability issues of the VW . I personally would purchase a Toyota prado instead 👍
The new Prado does look good!
Exactly why the heck would anyone get this over the new prado. Unreliable, depreciation is insane and an old platform.
New Prado looks good but the price is getting up there, especially if you compare the features on offer in the Touareg. I have also read a few complaints about the poor head room in the Lexus GX550 (Toyota Prado) especially in the second row.
Also, the Prado interior doesn't look luxury, even on the upgraded variants.
@@kevinferguson530 headroom is a problem for anyone over 1.88m in a lot of Toyota vehicles with the B pillar cross bar. I found the Prado not too bad that we hired for an off road trip a few years ago.
Right, Toyota.... So, low power and high fuel use. 🤦 Do they still come with a cassette player and 1950's suspension technology?
Front grill doesn’t look appealing..
Nice review, Touareg actually looks okay. Unfortunately, though Volkswagen poor reputation for warranty and service means I would give this vehicle a miss, not even a so-called price reduction would entice me to purchase this vehicle.
A.MA.Z.I.N.G love love love love
Horrendous alloy wheels design om 170 Tdi was holding it back in previous generation. It seems to be fixed now ! And why does VW not fit the better engine that gets shipped to other markets ? This engine is straight from their UTEs. Not fair
Never again, another VW!
love vw
Those wheels are ugly and very cheap looking
This platform is the same as the Porsche.
Way better than the atlas
Those wheels are just awful and not befitting of a “luxury” suv
The front is very disappointing. It looks like VW took inspiration from the previous generation Amarok. The interior fit’n’finish looks abit average too.
Cupra are the only VAG brand doing anything even remotely interesting with their exterior styling these days
front is very nice
@@thiagolima5232… if you have 60% impaired vision!😝
VW Please hire a good designer , it looks so old . Inside and outside .
V W and Diesel engines 😂
What is wrong with that?
With$130,000I will buy the Landcruiser with no headache and much better overland capbilities!
The Touareg has zero overlanding/off-road capabilities. It doesn’t even have low range 😂
For a big suv, not a very high ride.
You mean the clearance or seat height?
😅😅
This platform is the same as the Porsche.
I would rather say the Porsche is the same as this platform.
I could get a Q7 with an extra two seats
Yes. For 25 k euros more where I live
Too close to q7 money
Q7 starts at $116,400 before on-road costs, so nearly $30,000 higher
Making the LC Prado 250 even more awkward.
