I've been buying antiques all my life . Truly appreciate the craftsmanship that go into building such pieces. Mostly furniture, alot that come from europe. Great video. Keep up the good work. Thank you .
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to comment and keep on collecting !
I praise anyone who is buying antiques and collectibles.
This was a fascinating juxtaposition to the many articles saying , "Your kids don't want your stuff." I'm 50 and grew up going to estate sales and antique shops. Now, as an eBay seller, I'm hard pressed to get my vintage stock to sell. 🤷♀️
I think things have been slow for a lot of dealers over the past year because the economy is in bad shape. On the other hand I hear about some dealers and sectors that have done well. Overall prices in the high end of antiques are not dropping. I personally don't have much experience in selling vintage, only antiques. Good luck! Thanks for commenting! :)
It is so interesting to see what the trends are and which age groups are being drawn to particular eras and styles! Many people are realizing that antiques are a great investment, as well as providing great beauty and quality for their homes. I love my European antiques!❤
Art nouveau is so unique. Like pre-psychedelia. Love it!
My favorite comment regarding furniture was, "don't paint it." Thank you😊
unless it has veneer that can't be fixed.
Haha, yes, nothing like an antique patina!
I am 42 and Victorian/ Edwardian for life, I have been collecting a long time over 10 years now, I study the pieces, I know what they are used for, on one hand I want people to save these antiques on the other hand I don't want to not be able to find any pieces because people think it is a trend and buy them or paint them for fun and get sick of them in a month or two, I hope that is not going to happen.
Yes, we can all play a role in preserving these items and emphasizing their historical value to others!
The quality of antique and vintage items, for the most part can’t compare to the crap that is available today. I would rather spend my hard earned funds on something that is going to last…
That’s what me and my friends all think!! I’m 35
I’ve been doing this for over 25 years. The reason, quality and craftsmanship without the off gassing of “modern pseudo wood.” I have a favorite chair, a sackback rocker that has no hardware in it at all.
Sir, you are on point. Have seen more in people's homes, items from the 20, 30s, 60s; such as paintings, furniture dishes, and those old cool 1920s toasters, especially.
That’s great to hear!
Dealing in strictly Victorian era furniture, we have been shifting towards the rarer end of the Victorian furniture market. Even the more "merchant class' end of things like Hunzinger chairs and john Jelliff are rising in value. We sell a lot of spelter and bronze sculpture, 19th centuiry art, electrified gas lighting and we are seeing steady sales of stained glass and Silver. We have seen a big movement up in prices for Aesthetic Movement furniture like Kimbel & Cabus and textiles . My buyers are getting increasingly younger and are fans of Gilded Age. They understand the quality. The hardest thing for us is finding the quality pieces to keep things on the showroom floor.
Thanks for sharing that with us, that's exciting to hear that younger folks are getting involved in preserving history and i'm glad your store is doing well!
I have a very nice John Jelliff couch and chair parlor set if you are interested. I’ve been meaning to try and sell it but haven’t gotten around to it. Let me know if you are interested and we can figure out a way for me to get pictures to you.
Do they mostly stay in a family? Or become heirlooms?
@ Like anything its a little bit of both. Some people just look at antiques as an investment that they hope will go up in value and they can enjoy and sell at a profit in the future. Others buy to keep and hopefully pass down.
Comic books and gold silver coins getting big too amongst millennials the second largest group
Watchmaker here, you got our category right, we have been at it for 33 years. I love your videos and find items outside our comfort zone informative. Lance.
That's great Lance, I'm glad you are getting something out of them, thanks for taking the time to contribute!

Good stuff
More examples of what is trending would be great !
Ok, you mean more photos?
Loved the video
Thanks very much for your support, glad you enjoyed it!!
Interesting survey, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thoroughly enjoyed this!! Both the trends and the inflation chat. Overall inflation will be around for awhile with all the money printed and floating in the last 5 years or so. Cheers and Happy Hunting 🎉
Yeah, lots of factors contributing to inflation, that rate of value change in the dollar is scary
Thank you for the information!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
holy moly, where are you located? Your taste is exactly mine- I saw a lot of things in your warehouse that i really liked! My home is filled with dark hand carved pieces. I went to France/Belgium/Germany many times in the 90s to buy antiques and i'm still obsessed with it all. The history too! thanks for sharing your thoughts.
The warehouse is in Austin TX. You're welcome to come have a look!
@@antiqueacquisitions8090 awesome! I'm from the area (Fort Hood/Copperas Cove), next time I'm back home to visit, i'll come by....amazing place!
Nouveau was also quite popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Classic nouveau style in updated colors for rock posters and the soft, muted art of Christine Rosamond. And it fit in nicely with the outdoors in, laid back 70s hippie boho style. Another 50 year revival. Wish I still had my posters
Thanks for this, I am with you when it comes to Victorian paintings although I have to admit I like late 19th to early 20th century works.
I enjoy those as well
It's really sad that with the advent of the "Reseller"- it ruined the whole secondhand market.
Now when one goes into a Saver, Goodwill et cetera. They are pricing items like one is shopping in Israel Sacks!
Just try-to get the best deal on overlooked items.
I think the employees look up items and price them to match the highest one similar on eBay - regardless of the condition of the one in the store or how long the listing has been sitting on eBay. It’s ridiculous.
@@love_in_an_echo_chamber , , right?
These "Non-Profit" 501c3 "Charity" stores are total crud nowadays!
@@love_in_an_echo_chamber Isn't it funny though how absolutely dumb these people are -working in back in Production and Pricing?
You wouldn't believe the stuff I've found- for NOTHING, really, over the years- up until about 2013.
@ haha yes BUT shhhhh🤫let them think they’ve got the whole market on lock 😉except for the obvious, they don’t know anything about pottery and let’s keep it that way.
@@love_in_an_echo_chamber sure. But the Pottery sections (in stores). Many people run for them!
There is a fair amount of people - even Resellers, who have recently as in the past three (3) minutes, after looking at something on their cell phones and comparing it to thee highest Ebay prices, et cetera. They now 'know' what the item is and will decide if they wanna sell and ship all to make $5 bucks.
I'm done. I have more than enough Fine art. Enough to create a happy home.
Hello buzzdaphire smile God loved u don't forget (greg-alan)-- bolderguard2-3-2025 oh ready for up coming valentines day oh happy Chinese new year ( eye don't like reptiles of any kind don't tell Chinese,) 😅😅
This is interesting, I can't keep Vaseline glass in stock it flies out of my booth. I'm sure it's a trend right now.
That's good to hear!
Too funny. I started collecting more Surrealist works, at 52-years-old. *Beware of surrealist works from Canada and mainly Bulgaria! They are sweat shops with art students in back and a Master overlooking these brand-new paintings that they are trying-to pass off as "vintage". (BS!) Same with the crud out of China, "We'll make a painting that looks just like this and mail it to you in 90-days, maybe. You pay now!"*
Sick to death of my period Mid-Century furniture. Velour furniture was back last year- glad I've kept mine. Landscapes, hunting scenes, Orientalist pictures, animals(!) -especially dogs.
As sad as it is, what are folks thoughts on the fires in California, and what it will do to prices, and collections, so much lost. I feel it will takes years to see the full extent of the damage. ✌🏻💚🙏🏻
Yes it's terrible, but it I might actually explore that as a topic to report on. Thank you!
A lot of art and vintage cars went up in smoke , yep the mkt. Is in flux.😢@@antiqueacquisitions8090
I have been collecting anything that says 1776 on it with hopes it will sell well next year. Any thoughts anyone?
Agreed. Brass, pewter, and Colonial period is picking up.
Why ? Is next year 2076 ?
@ I'm excited to hear this! Thanks for sharing!
250th anniversary @@KevinUrban-u1z
@@KevinUrban-u1z the 250th anniversary of this little country called the USA….
Queen Victoria's reign began in 1837 with the death of her uncle King William IV and ended in with her death in January of 1901 on the Isle of Wight.
Perfect!
Jobs seem to be opening up in my area, hopefully a good sign.
I'm glad to hear that!
Love the outfit! Very cool. Art Nouveau and Victorian have always been my favorites. Bridgerton is more Regency than Victorian but viewers of the show aren't experts, right? I buy fine art so Surreal have always been sought, if well done.
Thank you!!! I've never actually seen Bridgerton but it was mentioned in the survey.. I like Poldark, Downton etc. Thanks for commenting!
I must say that magic / occult and interest in witches and magick including ritual magic and whimsy, faery, Gaelic and Druid as well as 90’s whimsigoth styles and aesthetic account for much interest in Nouveau and some others
Thanks for that insight!
I both collect and sell and some other things that are popular and in demand are vintage marbles, candy containers, made in Japan figurines, poison and milk bottles.
Great, thanks for contributing!
Is there a place for 60s solid wood Ethan Allen furniture? Thank you. Just subscribed.
Thanks so much for subscribing! Ethan Allen started making primarily Colonial Style furniture as early as 1932. Anything more than 40 years old is generally considered vintage. In 8 years the earliest pieces will start to become antique!
I'm curious about your thoughts on drug-related items and ephemera. Thinking about 19c opium antiques, 1880-1970 pharmaceutical items and mid-20c psychedelia...
While my primary area of knowledge is related more to furniture and decor, another viewer did comment that their antique glassware had been doing very well.
Wait wait wait! Outrageous prices for perfectly average MCM pieces has remained stable &/or demand has dipped? Supply of objects (Deco, Art Nouveau) not made in over a century is dwindling!? Who-could-have-known!? Amazing observations.
New build blandness and sterile cookie cutter housing developments plus farmhouse aesthetic have us running away from Millennial Grey - it’s no wonder we want antiques and pieces with spirit in them

Thank you!
Inflation was almost back to normal by the end of the year. But the prospect of inflation growing is strong, considering the potential for increased tariffs, as well as stifled production due to loss of foreign labor.
What will always be true, is that when prices for necessities go up, discretionary spending falls. I think the antique market will do well where people cater to the very wealthy. They are likely to be the only winners for the next several years.
Old. Antique. You. Want. You
Are you woody Harrison’s dad? Strange resemblence
lol, that would be hard given that he is more than a decade older than me

Think a generation of renters..what do they collect ,antique any thing is not in there budget .😅
I can see where you're coming from. On the other hand I saw a recent post where someone was saying that although they could not afford a house they were decorating with genuine antiques to create the feeling of the old world.
When you say "Renaissance-Style" are you referring to Renaissance Revival?
Yes, that's right! :)
8:30 people are becoming nostalgic for things thoroughly designed/created by actual humans :)
That's exactly what I meant to say, thanks for clarifying!
Could you have done this video without your right hand?
haha I kept thinking 'He has a huge hand'! prob the angle of the camera!
