I just have to comment. For years I did the same thing you just did. Every once in a while I would clean out the Tupperware mess. Here's what I learned. We all keep so many containers that even for the big holiday dinners we have more than enough containers. I got so tired of not being able to find a lid when I needed it and cleaning up the Tupperware mess which doesn't take long to digress into chaos. About 5 years ago I waged war on that cabinet. Here is my hard and fast rule now. I keep containers with their lids on them. They don't go in my cabinet if they don't have a lid. The only way I stack them is if they fit inside another container with the lid attached! Let me tell you I have ended the Tupperware mess. I never have the shambles I had before. I have plenty of containers for holidays too. I never have to hunt for a lid. It has worked like a charm for about 5 years now!

You are the first person I have seen that agrees with me. All storage containers must have the lid on them. The bad thing is they must be completely dry first. You should make a video!

OMG the bain of my existence at the moment.
I read something the other day "I am sure when socks go missing in the wash/dryer they come back as a tupperware lid"

I've been watching all these decluttering videos and thinking about my dreaded tupperware overflowing in my lazy Susan...& then I found a Tupperware lid in my laundry today before watching this video… I think it's time to bite the bullet and do it!

Great challenge! Thankfully, I did this last january. I only kept rectangular ones for left overs. It has been such a blessing. All fit together and small ones fit inside bigger ones. I have three sizes, and I haven't needed to change anything in a year. Now, lunch boxes are a different thing.. We're experimenting this year, so we have a bunch of different ones. Can't wait until we settle on one type... Looking forward to the next challenge!

Job well done! My food storage got a lot better when I switched to glass pyrex. We use them often - we eat most of our meal at home - and I just received a 3 pack for Christmas from my cousin. They stack/nest well so that helps a lot.

I labeled inside my bathroom closet, several years ago and when I went back six months later, it was still clean! Then I labeled the insides of the cabinets in the whole house! It is amazing! Everyone knows where everything goes. EVERYONE that can already read...lol...Everyone puts everything back where it goes and there is NO room to add anything else because it only fits one way. When I want to add something, I have to get rid of something and relabel. Ain't no body got time for that, so the cabinets stay neat! :))))

I started organizing too. Cleaned out my pantry and throw out 2 bags full. I did move things I use often where I could reach them and stuff I don't need often up high. I also cleared out my craft closet and am giving some items to my daughter. This has been so fun.

On QVC they have a product, Lock and Lock...they are wonderful and the best thing is several of their pieces NEST...so it saves tons of space. They can be pricey, but they are a wonderful investment. I've had pieces for years...LOVE THEM!!

Get the GLASS snapware from Costco when it's on sale. It's a really good deal and the stuff is completely leak proof and the snaps are amazing. I've had mine for two years now without one break. I use it daily and bring it in school lunches-- no issues!

Have you thought about putting all your plastic ware in the cabinet with the lids on in the cabinet. The stacked piles you had you could have just put those in the cabinet. I do this and it is wonderful, as soon as it comes out of the dishwasher I put the matching lid on it and stack it in my cabinet. I don't have missing lids anymore, the plastics ware cabinet is nice and neat and very easy to get what you need.

Your cabinet looks great Kimmy! My Tupperware isn't awful, but everything else (water bottles, etc) needs to GO!Do you watch 'How Jen Does It?' Whenever something gets out of control in our house, we say, 'Jen would never approve!' Or when we clean up, we say, 'Jen would be so proud!' lol!

I recently did the same with our plastic containers. Most of what we had didn't match and I had way too much. I donated most of it and replaced them with one matching set.

I have those snap ware from Costco, I actually Ike mine. Only challenge is they are in a box along with everything else from my kitchen 😔. After a water leak from my dishwasher which caused not only water damage but mold damage. I have 20 boxes of stuff from my cabinets which is embarrassing no one needs that much. I'm going to go through each box and donate a ton of stuff! I already have 4 boxes ready to go who hoo! Also working on my desk I'm determined not to keep the stuff that never gets used. I'm all in on this one. In my closet I e turned all my clothes on hangers opposite way around. What doesn't get turned around at the end of year I obviously didn't love it as the I thought I would it's going to be donated.

I switched to glass and only kept a few plastic for pantry needs. The key for me was to not put my lids in the dishwasher because it ruins them now that I use pods.

Ok you have to label those bins even a post-it note helps or masking tape with marker, and then a bin for the kids stuff will make it easier to pull out and put back in

See now, I have grown to believe that separating the containers from the lids is the beginning of the great container conspiracy. I store all of mine with lids on so when I take it out to use it, I have both pieces right away. I also keep only enough containers that can fit in my fridge. For travelers, the ones that go to school or anywhere else outside of the house, I use the take out containers that come with ordered food. I may never see them again and don't worry about it.

stop calling any plastic container Tupperware. None of your plastic containers are genuine Tupperware. Tupperware has a lifetime warranty which means that if you had invested in the genuine article you would not have to throw anything away as you can purchase missing parts through any Tupperware consultant from the comfort of your home. Not to mention you could also have earned FREE genuine Tupperware products by having a demo in your home which would have saved you lots of money, time & energy. Just as not all facial tissues are Kleenex so it is with plastic containers. So please do not mislead people by falsely calling your plastic containers by the wrong brand name. Thank you.

    • @blessingfarm3674
      @blessingfarm3674 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

oh, seriously. She's a nice lady just calling it Tupperware like old timers call every copy machine a Xerox and every hot tub a Jacuzzi. How many folks call every soda they drink a coke and really mean some sort of pop? It's just semantics. This is her vlog channel, not a chance to sell your product. At least respect her and stop bothering her Tupperware reps! Tupperware IS awesome. I buy vintage at Flea Markets all the time and it still works great. But this attitude would not convince me to have a party to help you boost your sales quota. Just sayin'.
And good for you for throwing away all those lids and random bits. I keep holding onto mine, convinced I will find the match someday. You have motivated me to clean the cupboard tomorrow. I can always buy new if I need to, but we generally don't have leftovers and we homeschool, so I only need PLASTIC WARE for holiday leftovers. I can get Dollar Tree or disposables for that and actually have room for my appliances! I am enjoying your videos as I declutter to move. I liked the one at the storage place. The same thing happened to my van recently. Bummer. Keep them coming!

I have mine in lower cabinets too. I match the lids and snap only two sides. I snap the two side that touch, not the ones across. I donate Tupperware without lids to Goodwill because someone like me will go there and find the EXACT container they need to match the lid they have! LOL, SERIOUSLY!
