So awesome to see Adam closing in on 200k subscribers! I guess more people appreciate excellent harmonica than I was aware of. :) Adam is a blessing to the amazing world of the hamonica.
So I don't really know how to send messages to people on you tube. I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos. They have helped shape the harmonica player I have become. I don't think people realize the gift you have given free to is on you tube. A debt I could never repay. So thank you again❤
Gosh, that was a LONG time ago. Yes, I was in NOLA when my book "Mister Satan's Apprentice" was published in the fall of 1998. I remember sitting in somewhere; I guess that was it. I seem to remember a young guy with Wolf in his name--Little Howlin' Wolf, something like that. NOT Walter "Wolfman" Washington. This young cat had the gig right after Carson, or at another club down the block.
@@gussowsclassicbluesharmoni2726 Yes! Actually, thought it was staged because as Big Al was questioning you, you said who you were and the crowd roared. He asked if you were ready and you flashed open your coat and you had pockets (kind of like a vault) FULL of harmonicas...the crowd went crazy, AGAIN! Thank you, was a fun evening and was my introduction to you. I am glad I have found you here and am learning (finally) Peace and Blues, Always xx
No, but it's pretty straightforward. I'm old school. Tabs are a good way of teaching complicated solos, but any harp player should be able to sound this out slowly, note by note.
Hey Adam it’s been a while. If you don’t recognize me it’s because I’m using a different account now, but anyways I just wanted to say thank you. I got my first harmonica probably four or five years ago at this point and your channel more than any other taught me so much. Not only about the instrument itself, but the culture and the stories behind the music as well. You also gave me my first real exposure to African-American literature which first of all came in pretty handy this past year during my first year of college, but also just turns out to be something I’m really interested in so thank you. On a more personal note your videos really helped me get through some tough times, some of those videos you put out during Covid especially. More than that though your channel, or maybe the harmonica, gave me a way to just escape all the shit happening around me for a little while and focus on something that made me feel good. As the very depressed and lonely teenager I was for most of high school that was something I really needed so, once again, thank you. I’ve honestly not practiced harmonica much the past year or two as I’ve mostly been focusing on guitar, but I’ve missed it so, well, here I am. I’m excited to get back to learning to it, and I’m sorry for writing such a long and possibly too personal comment under your video lol have a good one Adam
Not to be pedantic, but the original version and still the best -- to my ear -- was by Clifton Chenier. Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys also do a great version. Thanks for adapting it to the harp. I could always play it on guitar, but I've struggled on the harp. (I always assumed it was because Clifton and Buckwheat played it on piano accordion, and Steve on the triple-row, so they had more notes than a harp) This is exactly what I was looking for but not finding.

Thank you! You are amazing!!! I first saw you when you popped up in the audience at the Funky Pirate in NOLA and you joined Big Al Carson.
That was maybe 20-25 years ago?

You've got the business and the groove Professor , would have liked to have joined ya in N O. Thankyou.
Do you have the tab?
No, but it's pretty straightforward. I'm old school. Tabs are a good way of teaching complicated solos, but any harp player should be able to sound this out slowly, note by note.

Hey Mr. Gussow, I've been reading your books lately. Thanks for sharing so much knowledge and experience. Greetings from Guatemala.
I hear Lee Oskar’s Low Rider riff in there.

What’s your opinion of the old double sided wood comb Hohner Echos?

You need tabs for intermediate players.
