Being part of the British Empire doesnt mean they were invaded, many countries chose to join because of the infrastructure, democracy, trade and wealth it brought. Also Britian created several countries, including Canada, the United States, New Zealand, India and Pakistan. 56 countries are still part of the commonwealth. Some countries joined because they wanted protection from their neighbours. Uganda for example became a protectorate of the British Empire in 1894 because they wanted protection from the other religous factions in the area.

@@DTAGAFFA You dont need to speak English to understand each other. In America during the early years (1490-1600's), the British settlers relied on Native Americans for food and guidance and in exchange the Britsh helped them against the volient tribes who would often attack and kidnap them. They mostly lived in peace for the first 100 years before European settlers brought diseases to which Native Americans had no immunity. Indians believed diseases was the manifestation of a demon and they blamed the white people for it.

The Romans established the province of Britannia, which included much of present-day England and Wales, and some of Scotland. Hi Folks, yet another interesting video.
do remember that the American who made this video dislike the UK and uses the word "INVADE" very loosely.
If you ask WHY we "INVADED" these countries, you will find that most were to stop tyranny (Hitler, Napoleon) or slavery.
Some of the areas that the UK owned was from the royalty of a foreign country becoming the King/Queen of England.
    (Hanover, Anjou, Normandy etc)
How many of these countries did we invade to occupy and possess.
The UK made its wealth by trade and preferred to have its strength at sea rather than in its Army.
Something these anti-British people do not mention is how these countries remained part of the British family by becoming members of the Commonwealth of Nations, (Nigeria is the 11th country to become a member) where the country must maintain the British values such as democracy, human rights, freedom of expression, tolerance.
How many other empires do you know who have this?

A lot of this needs much more context. We had German monarchs, a Dutch monarch, which did involve Britain in many foreign adventures. As a weak and poor European nation we had to fight to survive against the much stronger European powers like Spain and France - and the constant wars with them lead to an awful lot of these instances. The crusade against slavery the Britain pursued vigorously also led to many African and Arabian involvements. Britain had a trade Empire - and private companies like the East India Company fought to protect, maintain and expand their trade - often without any oversight from any British Government. And many of these come from Britain standing up to Napoleon, the Kaiser or Hitler or Japan, wars which Britain did not start, but fought hard to win. For a country that rarely had an army over 200,000 strong it is an impressive list - but it relied heavily on the aid and support of local rulers and local troops.

All of these supposed invasions require full context.

  • @DenUitvreter
    @DenUitvreter 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

2.51 Incorrect, there haven't been plenty of invasions going that way. They burnded down a village on Dutch island once, the Anglo Dutch wars were naval battles because the English couldn't compete with the Dutch Republic in free trade. There was an invasion the other way around in 1688 though, that gave England it's current constitutional parliamentary monarchy, Bill of Rights and introduced them to modern capitalism and freedom and led to the union known as Great Britain or the UK.
They still call it their Glorious Revolution though, because the Dutch stadtholder and commander of the Dutch military demanded a formal invation from some powerless lord parlementarians to take the throne. We do have lots of British bachelor parties invading Amsterdam though, but not in the 17th and 19th century.

Learn some bloody history. The British Parliament invited William of Orange to be King of England as he was a Protestant and the British wanted to get rid of the Catholic King, James. The Dutch NEVER invaded the British Isles.

    • @DenUitvreter
      @DenUitvreter 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@barryfeagan3969 No, the Dutch parliament had commissioned an invasion fleet twice the size of the Armada and an invasion army of tenths of thousands, but the appointed stadtholder William III didn't feel like ruling as a foreign conqueror and demanded a formal invitation, for it's symbolic effect only. This wasn't about England in the first place, but about France posing a danger to the Dutch Republic and the future of religious freedom, as England becoming a catholic ally to France as in 1672 with the secret treaty of Dover would tip the balance of power and Louis XIV could no longer be contained.
If you do a navy landing, march to the capital and hold it occupied to form a new government with no English soldiers allowed near it, that's an invasion by any definition. The fact that the legitimate king of England didn't manage to put up a substantial fight and fled to France with a nosebleed does not make anything else, no matter what British self serving myths in denial of historical facts say.

But the finger gets pointed at us all the time. They say we invaded, but they don't say why it was, which makes it sound bad like Afghanistan. Technically the English or British are actually one of the 7 Kingdoms of Western Rome.
Just like in the HBO TV series Game of Thrones 7 Kingdoms of Westeros, all the 7 Kingdoms went to war to attain the Iron Throne.
In reality the Iron Throne refers to the Iron Monarchy (Rome) after the Roman Empire couldn't sustain itself with enough Romans, Rome passed on the baton of power to its 7 Kingdoms established in Europe, The Western Roman Empire fragmented.
    1.Franks - Fraunce.
    2.Suevi - Espanol.
    3.Alamanni - Deutsch.
    4.Visigoth - Portuguesa.
    5.Burgundians - Swiss.
    6.Lombards - Italia.
    7.Anglo Saxon - Britannia/America
    8.Heruli - exterminated.
    9.Vandals - exterminated.
    10.Ostrogoths - exterminated.
From the bible 10 toes from Feet of Iron mixed with Clay.
10 toes = 10 Kingdoms, whereby 3 got plucked to give power to the litte horn (Vatican City).
7 Kingdoms all went to war against each other to attain the Power of the Iron Monarchy (Rome). Rome switched from Military power to Religious Influence.
The British went war against the French in the Napoleonic Wars.
Under The Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon in the Batte of Waterloo 1815. Britain dominated.
The English went to war with the Spanish in the Anglo-Spanish wars. 1585 - 1604 ending with Queen Elizabeth I of England against King Phillip II of Spain. Ushering England master of the seas unchallenged forwarding colonisation with trade, commerce, missionary work.
The British then went to war with the Germans in WWI Britain dominated and WWII America dominated, rendering the Germans impetent.
The Italians fought amongst themselves and were not successful in expansion.
The Swiss was in centre and was unable to venture out instead it became a buffer state and had well trained mercenaries that eventually became the Popes peraonal bodyguard- Swiss guard wearing the Medici colours.
Portugal was more interested in Trade, Commerce, secured some territories but not enough to match up to the Brits.
Britain through its Monarchy had attained the Iron Monarchy and through Queen Victoria married all her children to other Royal houses, in order to unite all the Kingdoms.
King George, Tsar Nicolas and Kaiser Wilhem are cousins.
The Bosheviks executed Tsar Nicolas and his Family.
Kaiser Wilhelm abdicated and became a lowly Lumberjack.
Through King George down to our beloved Queen Elizaberh II to King Charles III.
In the book of Daniel Chapter 2 ver 40-43 -
40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron-for iron breaks and smashes everything-and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.

Denmark was never invaded by England. During the napoleonic wars in 1807 Admiral Nelson terror bombarded the city of Copenhagen and stole the fleet.
In 1945 Monty and his men arrived in Denmark, after the Germans had surrendered. They were welcomed and seen as liberators, because the Germans would never
have surrendered without the heroic effort of the combined allied forces.
But England has been invaded several times by ancestors of the Danes and descendants of the Danes - Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Vikings and Normans.

This is a misrepresentation. We have much more to thank the Brits ancestors for than we have to criticise them for that is for sure. So many nations in history have invaded others, when they are ruled by a small group of callous aristocrats and have only a peasant, powerless citizenry and therefore incredible atrocities and genocide happen. The difference with the British, was that they were also the 1st culture to force royalty to 2 give common citizens protected freedoms and ownership rights IN LAW(English Bill of Rights 1689 and act of Parliament 1707) to be gradually rolled out to more citizens groups in later centuries and being permanent for the future and take power away from the royalty. Also, "the so-called" land of the free, the USA, entire political, legal and economic structures were developed by the British for neearly 2 centuries before USA even existed, and all of the founding fathers of USA were English. Freedoms amongst normal citizens are what eventually leads to compassion towards other nations citizens. This was demonstrated when religious groups and general citizens had reached a level of personal rights and wealth collectively campaigned and committed themselves towards ending slavery worldwide and sought the quality-of-life amongst others that they were able to negotiate away from royalty themselves e.g.: campaigning to give democracy to other nations. Uniquely having these freedoms, whilst other countries populations were still mainly peasantry living in a feudal society with no individual power, is what led to the British causing all the inventions that started the 1st 2 industrial revolutions, which built value and wealth 1st in UK, but then those legally protected freedoms were realised in other countries by their influence and then the increased technology, wealth and value was also transferred all around the world which means most of the world enjoys an amazing standard of living compared to their ancestors before the political revolutions in England in the 17th century which were the catalyst for all of this. Before gradual improvements from these revolutions, life was hard, painful and bleak for common citizens in a way that is unimaginable to the modern public in virtually countries citizens in the 21st-century.

Most were not invaded it was more trade than attacking but if we had not been that powerful the slave trade would still exist and all the Inventions like the internet we brought to the world it would be a whole different world also if we were that bad why does the commonwealth have so many members some who have never been part of the empire

The US has military bases across the world.
      We had trading bases.
Think about it, does the US ignore the host nations or does it attempt to influence their politics?
Different time, a different world but the same intention.

Pretty sure we're talking about UK not American history don't ever remember comments about America who for a fact have never won a war without outside help even though you may have the largest army navy and air force larger doesn't mean better trade was a key part of UK been so big not through bully tactics the only major part that that happened was Asia but looks at India now a power house along with many of the best countries without UK influence your country wouldn't exist

That video is a massive misrepresentation. England has only invaded four countries, Wales, Scotland, France and Ireland. The UK ( England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) is the one who invaded most.

What you mean is, the British Royal family has invaded all these countries and has used the indigenous population of these isles as cannon fodder.

@@robk5159 Napoleon Bonaparte said, "History is a set of lies that people have agreed upon", which is why it's called "his story". Carry on about your business padawan.

@TwoFingeredMamma The attempt at humour linked to an axiomatic comment is a little sad. I said a visit to a library was probably required on your part, let me amend that comment, in order to provide a little epistemic value to your education you should begin at 1st year Napoleonic history. Should you find the unquestionable Napoleon biographies by either (or both) Frank Mcglynn or Andrew Roberts ( both sited as definitive) you will find both agree that 80% of quotes attributed to Napoleon are pure fiction, furthermore they say uninformed people will attempt to attach Napoleon's name to any old musing in order to give it some gravitas and authority. Sorry my uneducated apprentice..but you are not a Jedi yet!

I think there is an issue with the video you are reviewing.
It conflates modern countries with historical wars.
At the time the British invaded most of the modern Caribbean states they were controlled by France or Spain.
India was invaded in response to actions by France. And so on.
Most of the invasions were in response to issues with France or Spain, and to some extent with The Netherlands.
As to China, those wars were for trade, Britian want to trade with China. China would only sell goods, tea, silk, porcelain etc, for GOLD!
This is not to claim the moral high ground, the British wanted money and trade was the best way to get that and if denied there was a war!
But there were a few wars, like the embargo on Brazil to end Slavery, or the shortest war in history, UK verses Zanzibar (lasted approx 45 minutes) trade, yes but it ended the Zanzibar slave markets!
