I used to watch this show religiously. Now that I'm grown I see how toxic and horrible it really was I will never forget how they forced Kayla to kiss guys when she said she was SA as a child and was afraid of men.
I remember that one, I felt so bad for her. It was totally unfair 😔

Facts! Then one of the winners, lisa (9:21) came out on Instagram and said how they’re treated like shit and abused on the show too
I used to want to audition for ANTM (when they had the short girl season), but now I’m glad that I didn’t. This show was so toxic that it needed a HAZMAT suit!
And throughout the season they kept having the male models on the photoshoots it made me think they were trying to get her reaction for a while
Tyra was so effed up asking one girl to get her gap covered and giving her crap for not wanting to do it and then asking another girl to shave her teeth when she doesn’t even have a gap!
Why isn't ANY Jade from Cycle 6 moment on here?! Her Covergirl commerical shoot, her Wild n' Out rap, her exit spoken word poem, ANYTHING?!
Yeah, my sister and I tripped at her exit because she coincidentally snapped her fingers at the same time they removed her picture. Father Time couldn't have timed that better than that.

Looking back now, I can’t get over that none of us saw how cringeworthy Tyra made this show. It has not aged well.

No wonder this show never make a comeback anymore because every previous contestants are spilling the tea of Tyra except for Eva, the winner of Season 3 who felt grateful to her because she made them find her career. Even the Jays are also spilling the tea.
Both this show and the Tyra Banks talk show were unhinged, but I watched every single episode. Now that I’m older I’m surprised there weren’t multiple lawsuits. Also very said about Jael considering that she also passed away young

it bugs me how some of these girls were so terrified of insects or heights that they'd be screaming and crying, and they were basically forced to overcome these phobias in 2 minutes

Tyra reminds me of my sister who I haven’t spoken to in 10 or so years. 😭 I love rewatching ANTM because it makes me feel close to my sister but Tyra like my sister is a nut job 😂

For someone who was inspired to be a model when I was 14 thanks to watching this show a lot of Tyras rants 'lessons' were incredibly damaging. The way a model Kenya in cycle 4 was treated after being sexually harassed at a photoshoot and constantly telling the girls that there was a rank where they can't say no was SO dangerous and irresponsible for the safety of viewers that aspired to model thanks to this toxic show. Disgusted that this show was allowed to convey so many damaging messages for so long x
Keenya was treated HORRIBLY on this show. They made fun of her weight, making her portray “gluttony” as a 7 Deadly Sin in a photoshoot and the next week as an elephant. Really Tyra Banks? Gross beyond belief

How did this shell last so long if there's so much hate towards it? I'm never seen next top model but all I ever hear about is how toxic is. Are there any good, or even decent quality to it?
Back then there wasn't social media like it is today.
Social media as we know it today started growing around Cycle 17-19 when it was already declining.
Now we have hindsight and evolved attitudes.
We have the power to instantly bring this stuff up and blow it up overnight.
The contestants are what made the show and you'll see a lot of memes coming from them to this day.
People who followed the show loved their moments.
If you're not part of the solution you are a part of the problem.
Those that participated in the production, judging etc related to this show should apologize or potentially be prosecuted for perpetuating the toxic environment of the modeling world. Doesn't matter if that is how it is in the modeling world, why would someone/anyone produce/create a show that feeds into and perpetuates such toxic, predatory environment. Make these girsl feel like if they don't do something they won't have work, that's disgusting.

This quote reminds me when Winnie Harlow or Chantelle from ANTM season 21 got called Panda by Yu Tsai because of her skin condition of vertiligo. Chantelle confronted him as she has faced that nickname many times and she has overcome her trauma and bullying. But, did Yu Tsai apologize? No. Later, in judging panel, Tyra called her rude and unprofessional for talking to Yu Tsai like that and she got eliminated at that time. I remember the time Tyra defended Toccara where the judges kept bullying her for being a plus size model and we never see the side of Tyra anymore in later season. And every time a model try to stand up, the judges is telling them "It's not our business. It's your business. So, just move on and forget about it." You think it's easy for someone to be motivated like that immediately? They need time and process.
Meanwhile in another show which is Hell's Kitchen, there's a contestant named Robert who got called "Bobby" by chef Gordon Ramsay many times and he got PTSD about it because Bobby is his father's name and his father abused him. Later, Robert had talk to talk with Gordon and he explained the situation and Gordon immediately apologize. And that's coming from the angriest chef in the world who likes to yell and kicking out contestants from the kitchen when they're making mistakes. Gordon Ramsay also learnt from bottom as he had abusive father, alcoholic brother, learnt from Marco Pierre White who is more thought than him and even made him cry at some point. Have we ever heard Gordon told how many Michelin Stars that he got to anyone on his shows like how Tyra tell "When I was 13 in Paris, blablablabla" every time to get sympathy? No. People like Gordon Ramsay and Simon Cowell are "mean" because they care and passionate on their jobs and they mean to the people who are delusional and arrogant while people like Tyra Banks, James Corden and Ellen Degeneres are mean because how much ego do they have.

I might be in the minority, but I don't think Lisa was as bad as everyone tried to make her out to be, especially when compared to contestants who actively tried to sabotage their competitors.

I could be in the top 2 and I’d give it up over a spider. Fuck that. It may seem silly to some but once you come across something that brings you absolutely fear and discomfort you’d understand.
I used to watch this show nonstop and even had dreams to be on it one day. I remember I was so upset when I heard they were doing auditions in my city on a weekend I was out of town on vacation, and it happened to be for the one season she did for the short girls, I'm well below the "required" height for the regular seasons. I was heartbroken then, but today looking back at old seasons and seeing what was going on I'm glad I missed that "opportunity". While today they have a little more respect and common sense when it comes to the girls in their employ, I would have been one of those tortured on these shows as I was hoping to try out back in the earlier days. Tyra should be ashamed of the shit she did to these girls.
This is so ironic that I see this video when I’ve been binge watching the show on Hulu.

Good for Cassandra. I have long hair too When I sported a short bob it was my worse hairstyle ever. Thankfully it was voluntary but I wouldn’t do that style again.
This happened to me iv had long hair my hole life and i once trusted my cusin to trim it because her mom told me she was traning to be a hairdresser only after shed compleatly ruined my hair she told me she was training to be a barbor! Not a hairdresser and that my aunt wouldnt let her cut her hair! I went balistic!

You get what you get and you don’t complain
This is probably one of the most dangerous and toxic shows a young woman can watch. My daughter got addicted to the show (she'd even fake being sick so she could stay home all day and binge, and always asked for seasons on CD as holiday gifts), started hating herself because she suddenly decided she was deformed at birth because she didn't look like one of the models. This, even with counseling and other intervention, blossomed into full blown suicidality. Today, she is 28, and still not living a full life. 😭

unbelievable moments or at least wow moments but others have walked out aside of whitehead convenient or coincidental for moments that are more serious like death for one

The clip with Janis Dickinson really bugged me for I thought that Janis was much better as a person than that, but I guess she is not. And as a whole, this countdown video just reminded me why I am not a fan of Tyra Banks and not a fan of AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL. For it seems like the drag queens who have competed on RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE U.S. edition have received much better treatment from the judges and production staff than the women who competed on AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL ever did. And, Naiomi Campbell is and always has been a much better supermodel than Tyra Banks ever was.
I watched this show with my sister all the time growing up. upon recent rewatch, I see how problematic it is.
