This is proof that Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker are the best creative directors in this show and after they left, the photoshoots become something that you usually find on teen magazines and not in Vogue. Tyra made a huge mistake to fire those two.
That's because her job on the show was the makeup artist although if she was her drag alter ego it probably wouldn't have been fair to the others solely because IMHO she would've won the entire thing.

For cycle 9 I would’ve kept Heather knowing how amazing she would do for the Great Wall shoot. Even when she was eliminated she didn’t take the worse picture

Mr. Jay went on record recently saying that each shoot in China had to be scrutinized and approved by the Chinese government, who even went so far as to PULL THE TAPES FROM THE CAMERAS when they didn't like what was being filmed. So I guess if the government said it was fine and didn't think it was cultural appropriation (even though that shoot almost didn't happen; again Mr. Jay went on record about it), it's okay.
That’s bc that’s not what cultural appropriation is. Its been watered down, but it was never supposed to be about a native country’s ppl getting mad about other countries stealing their culture. Its a diasporic term (Chinese Americans, Black Americans, Korean Japanese). You don’t have to worry about someone using ur looks and culture to be exotic or for a joke and then ridiculing you for it or denying you opportunities when ur included in the majority. You worry about it bc you have to live with it in places that don’t accept you otherwise.
They could have included shoots in later season with stunning results like the zombie and water falls shoot of cycle 19; the dog and horror shoot of cycle 22. Cycle 16's bees shoot was also fantastic as well as Cycle 9's flower shoot.

That video is pretty cool, but that circus elephant girl one is pretty funny with the girl’s elephant trunk with tusks being upside-down instead of the right side up like on some pictures plus it’s weirdly hilarious!
I actually think the bi-racial photo shoot was a celebration of the mix race. Although it didn't 100% reflect the true mix race descendants but at least after the show, i actually learned there are different bi-racial that actually exists in this world instead of calling someone who is mix race with dark skin as black or latino coz there are Chinese with darker skin & there are black descendants who actually have lighter skin. We should celebrate all & just put someone in a all fit all box as black or white or asian or Hispanic

No, she really doesn't. Most people understand context and intent. If everyone had to explain things to someone like you, the explanations would never end.
As mixed-race Hawaiian myself I don't see the "Biracial Beauties" as being "black face", as many have done on that particular shoot. Throwing the words "black face" to any given moment diminishes the actual meaning and what that phenomenon entails. "Black face" is more than just changing ones color -but it's doing so in form of an insult as to show that the POCs, the black especially, are of lower status - and the biracial beauties photoshoot is not of that sort. That shoot is used to tell people of the history of the sugar cane plantation in Hawaii. None of those pictures and that episode in particular is used as an insult to us. One can deem call it as cultural appropriation - and it ould be seen as such but that particular shoot is so far from black face.
They had to put that in there - It makes me so angry that people just throw out blackface, insulting, etc. I'm Native American and have NO problem at all with any costumes. I mean - what are they doing to do on halloween now?

Tyra and Nigel both realized they sent Toccara home too early in an episode in cycle 16.. I still think Toccara could’ve gone farther in the show though she won in the end especially being the main host for thick house. The the plus sized Antm

Or, for that matter, if you’re shooting off season, shoot somewhere that the weather is similar to the season you’re pretending it is. I didn't watch all of the seasons, but some of the photo shoots seemed to put the model in some sort of danger. Tyra had some wild ones
