ASEAN must seek other markets and reduce Chinese influence. There is no shortage of reliable and respectful trading partners (India, Australia, South Korea, Japan, etc.) because what hits the Chinese, more surely than a missile in the face, is to hit their wallet by restricting trade agreements.
Is China taking advantage of its strength to impose itself on others ? What a mistake ! Especially with regard to the Asian nations that surround it and make up ASEAN.
All she will gain is to find herself isolated and lose a lot of markets which will make her furious so... She will make a lot more mistakes because she will count on her naval presence to impress her neighbors...
And they will harden until the moment when China will find itself in an impasse where it will have nothing left but military force to demand respect from others and its interests...
And no, it does not work like that, we do not impose ourselves on others, we are invited and we also know when to favor the rules of decency... we do not seize what is in others but we make exchanges...
Today, unfortunately for her, everything is seen, exposed and broadcast to the world, no way to hide anything and that is indeed one thing that an Asian abhors, it is that his true face is discovered, his intentions and therefore his heart.
Morality : China has a choice, either it respects its neighbors or not. In the latter case, it should not be surprised to reap what it sows and it will hurt very much... Does it want to experience the same banishment as Russia ? Is it preparing for another century of humiliation(s)? The choice is in its hands... It's up to it to decide.

      February 24, 1948, Declassified U.S. Foreign Policy:
Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world’s wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner-stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time.
Taiwan was added to the Pacific security system after Chiang's army retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949. South Korea was added after the Korean War in 1953. The attempt with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was abandoned in 1975.

@@happymelon7129 Let’s see if China has been squeaky clean since the end of the Korean War :
After the Korean War, China has been busy making sure its neighbors and its own citizens remember who is in charge.
      External Conflicts:
Sino-Indian War (1962): China decided to remind India of the importance of borders by launching an offensive in Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh.
Casualties : Thousands of soldiers on both sides, but who really counts?
Sino-Soviet Border Conflict (1969) : A little spat with the Soviet Union over the Ussuri River, just to keep things interesting.
Casualties : Hundreds of soldiers on both sides, but who cares? After all, for the Communist Party (both sides), human lives are just "consumables"
Paracel Islands (1974): China took control of these islands after a friendly naval skirmish with South Vietnam.
Casualties: Just on the Viet side and that's what counts for China
Sino-Vietnamese War (1979) : A brief but intense invasion of Vietnam to teach them a lesson for their actions in Cambodia.
Casualties : Tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians, just a small correction but still hurt the Chinese pride that broke its teeth on the Viet armed resistance.
Spratly Islands (1988) : Another naval engagement, this time with Vietnam, that left over 130 Vietnamese casualties.
Casualties: Over 130 Vietnamese, but they had to get revenge for the 1979 defeat, right ?
Southern South Sea : China has been building islands and military bases, much to the displeasure of its Southeast Asian neighbors. After all, you do what you want and take advantage of others' weaknesses, right ?
Border clashes with India (2020) : New skirmishes in the Galwan Valley, because why not keep up the good habits of imposing yourself on other people's territory ?
Casualties: About 20 Indian and Chinese soldiers.
      Moving on to internal conflicts:
Tibetan uprising (1959) : Tibetans tried to resist Chinese domination, leading to a swift and decisive response from Beijing.
Casualties : Thousands of Tibetans, but who really cares?
Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) : A decade-long campaign to purge capitalist and traditional elements, leading to widespread persecution.
Casualties: Millions of Chinese, but it was for the greater good, right?
Tiananmen Square (1989) : Pro-democracy protests were met with a memorable show of force.
Casualties: Hundreds, maybe thousands of protesters, but who cares, huh?
Xinjiang : Ongoing tensions with the Uyghur population, with re-education camps and surveillance.
Casualties : Hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs, but it's "for their own good", right?
Hong Kong protests (2019-20) : Mass protests against Beijing's influence, met with equally massive police responses.
Casualties: Thousands of protesters arrested, but it's to maintain order.
Clearly, China’s history after the Korean War is a testament to its commitment to enforcing ITS order and too bad if it doesn’t please or if there are deaths.
      BRI Negative Consequences :
Sri Lanka (2017) : Hambantota port was handed over to China for 99 years after Sri Lanka struggled to repay Chinese loans.
Consequences : Loss of sovereignty over a strategic port, increased debt burden.
Pakistan (2015) : The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) led to significant infrastructure development but also increased Pakistan’s debt.
Consequences: Rising debt levels, economic dependence on China.
Malaysia (2018) : The East Coast Rail Link project was initially suspended due to concerns about high costs and debt sustainability.
Consequences: Financial tensions, renegotiation of terms to reduce costs.
Djibouti (2018) : Heavy borrowing for infrastructure projects, including a new port and railway, has raised concerns about over-indebtedness.
Consequences : increased debt, potential loss of control over key infrastructure.
Laos (2021) : The Laos-China railway project has significantly increased the country's debt burden.
Consequences : economic vulnerability, risk of default.
Ah, Chinese diplomacy is like savoring a cyanide cake, it smells like almonds but it's deadly when you deal with it !
As for its legitimacy, it is only unilateral towards ITS interest, therefore illegal when it spills over into the sovereignty of others.
No nation is perfect, that much is known, but the Chinese case is particularly delightful to see when it wallows in making itself appear to be what it is not : trustworthy ? Disinterested ? Respectful ?
Ah, no, none of the boxes can be checked because its own pride prevents it from seeing things clearly and, above all, from having the humility to question itself.
That is indeed its Achilles heel, its weakness because it is necessary to "keep control" at all costs over everything and everyone but that is and will be impossible for it, therefore, its policy, strategy and means are doomed... to failure, it is just a question of time and it will be painful... for it and its population...
For its "elites", they have enough fat to withstand deprivation, as for the people (deceived by their illusions), it is another story !

The professor seem to be really careful about speaking matters that will hurt the CCP's Ego! Whether it's WISDOM or FEAR; its an issue that shows that CHINA is losing the wisdom it once pioneered. So to "PROFESSOR" Chung and those who argues in favor of the CCP, here's a little bit of that wisdom "智" (zhì) we used to love about China which the CCP began to vaporized and/or miss interpreted since 2010!
1.) "If the world around you seems to go against you, consider checking yourself, for you may be the problem."
2.) "Do not do unto others what you do not want others do unto you!"
3.) "When you know a thing, to hold that you know it, and when you do not, to admit the fact, - this is knowledge,"
4.) "Starlight shines far." (A single spark can start a huge blaze, so be mindful of the things you do, be motivated to be a better person.)
5.) "Numerous friends means no deep friendship."
... and more is coming on the way of being lost forever if the Chinese People allows the CCP to dictate how they live their lives. As the great Charlie Chaplin once said, " ; Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate. ; dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish...

Former president Duterte was a BFF of China even calling the international arbitrial decision as a piece of paper. Did it stop China from harrassing Philippine coast guard and Filipino fishermen in the south China sea? Some of the incidents were well within the philippine territory. The truth is China is determined to claim the whole south China sea.

China citizen should have People Power to oust Xi Jin Ping. They need to change the leader of their country. They should change Govt from Communists to Democratic. We Pilipinos love Chinese people but not the leader of China. Xi Jin Ping is creating trouble from their neighboring country.
