Kirill and Polina, in my opinion, much better than Dorin and Marina. You see it in Paso doble, for instance, Kirill much sharper and more precise, excellently balanced into the floor, while Dorin is swaying up over the floor, and he looks confused. Kirill and Polina deserved to win this final. By a big margin. But they didn't !!!
I totally agree with you, Helge. I've never been able to understand why Dorin and Marina are placed so high. By the way, I've seen the report of final round of this event. And Donnie Burns gives the 1st place to Kirill and Polina in three out of five dances. Strangely, he placed them second in rumba and paso. So, If Donnie had judged alone, they would have won! And he is the president of the WDC, let alone he is Donnie!
Marina is way way better latin female dancer, it comes to her naturally. This is her style. Polina is amazing lady as well, but she will look good in any other type of dancing cause she is just an athlete. You can see how MArina lives for the latin, she shines. And Kiril - I dont even know what to say about him. He should start some other sport that is not in couples and just show off himself individually. Kiril and Polina could have been 1st if they danced like a couple. I think best thing for them will be to split and look for different partners (especially for her). Sorry, but this time you are not right. It looks to me that you are always in favour of beauty in latin dancing rather than the latin dancing and culture. If Polina was not so good looking would you be supporting her that much ?
You can see how Marina's face shines and shows happiness. She is enjoying it to the maximum and having fun. Polina looks tense in her face with this extorted face expressions. She is competing like and Olympic athlete and not like light and joyful Latin female dancer. This is another reason why this and why that. Too much posing in Kiril and polina dancing. Dorin and Marina look like unpretentious and natural.
Not sure but have a question: Do the young people of the last two generations even know what any of the classical form of these dances are performed? I see a lot of beautiful legs and arms flying all over the place. There is a lot of hugely performed face craft on the floor. I’m 75 years young and would appreciate a little bit of the solid forms that these so called dances came from. Sorry for the rant, but have watched many of these videos they appear to be all the same waving arms, big faces and fast feet.
This is Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Pasodoble, Jive or Latin American. It is just another area of dance. It’s been around for decades therefore not new. Waltz, Quickstep Gainsborough glide, veleta are still performed and danced in competitions. One of my favourites (besides Latin American ) is the Argentine Tango. Some of the best are dancers from the streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina
