    I owned a Heimdallr on a bracelet, and now own a SM on rubber with a Kanagawa dial. Although the Heimdallr is a lot cheaper I think they are comparable. Pretty sure they come out of the same factory to be honest

    Turtle case with a captain Willard dial. I bought the 6105-8000 homage, same as this one but with a diameter of 42mm.

      Yeh i agree on the face of it. I think san martin do price them selves ahead of the competition and try to put in top specs. I think its a real shame with the heimdallr though, they could have done so much more

    Thanks for this comparison. There is very little on these watches on TH-cam. £400 for a Seiko Turtle in the UK with hardlex made me look at these and I actually prefer the dial and hands on the Heimdallr to the San Martin and the Seiko, so considering the price, it has to be the Sharkmaster for me!

      Unfortunately yes, they will likely bring out an updated and improved version on 2021. They've done that with must of their watches. Expect the new one to be a lot better :)
      If you don't want to wait, you could get one from Aliexpress

  • @lpblade7

    Wicked video, love how in depth you go. I think If the watch was your daily, to put out a bit more for the San Martin, but if it's in a rotation of a couple a week, you could save the money. Love the turtles though, top watches either way

    I think the reason to buy the San martin may be the consistency in the ir watches whereas it seems that in the others: steeldive. Heimdallr.. The quality depends on the model you buy.

    If the chapter ring was aligned I think I'd go with the Heimdallr, (I rarely use the rotating bezel after initially examining it on receipt of a watch) I think it's the handset and the finer bezel markings. Mind you it's easy to change the bezel insert of the San Martin, but I don't like it's handset. Then there's that dome, always nice to have a dome... Maybe the San Martin with a changed handset and bezel insert.... Excellent video, thanks.

    I prefer the San Martin, I think the extra fit and finish on the case (better brushing, beveled case near the crown) is worth it.
    I own a 1980 6309-7049 and the San Martin is really quite close in design and construction. Considering how much SRPs and 6309s are going for now, I think it's still a very good value.

    • @TheWatcherReviews

    Zeb Sir Another Great Comparison Review but Firstly both sets of hands are wrong on both models which I find unusual if they are doing a homage,The Sharkey using 6105 Clone hands and an unusual hand set used on the San Martin.
    Personally I’m not a fan of the San Martin Name as their Logo as it’s too big in my opinion spoiling the Dial Look.
    Either way I’m going San Martin as my choice👍the White Dial Lume look is more Authentic on the San Martin and it looks much better as far as Quality Control is concerned.
    Cracking Review as always Sir👏👏👏👍⌚️

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brilliant Neil, yes I agree, i think it was lazy for heimdallr to just clone a 6105 dial and hands and should have gone more turtle or used a diff dial at the very least. Im not a fan of the original SKX hands but heimdallr does have some great hands they could have used

    Oh man what a mix. I like the San Martin, but it needs the second hand from the Heimdallr. I suppose for the cost difference you could swap the dial out of the Heimdallr and put some thicker hour and minute hands for less than the cost of the San Martin. Great comparison man! These and steeldive have been pretty impressive lately. Have you checked out the steeldive sub yet? I think it’s the SD1954. I just got one to do some mods on and it’s pretty killer if you disregard the bracelet.

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh thats the beauty with the heimdallr, its cheap so plenty of room to mod. No I haven't, it looks like a pagani sub to me with a SD dial? Whats your thoughts on it? Importantly, hows the bezel rotation?

    • @dinner_workingsly
      @dinner_workingsly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheWatcherReviews it’s a 40mm..and the lume is pretty incredible. The bezel is great and has no back play....but it would probably be considered pretty stiff for most people. It stays put and it’s not an overwhelming amount of effort to use, doesn’t bother me. I’ve got a cool devil diver dial and some even cooler hands that I was gonna put in it instead, but it’s not shabby as is. I might get a sterile SD 1970 for that mod instead...🤷🏼‍♂️

    Great comparison of the two! Personal preference for sure, but if it was me buying one, I would go Heimdallr and put that $60 into another watch. At the price point, it represents too much $ value for me. Have not felt the need for a Willard yet....but never say never 😊

    The crazy part is both comes from the same factory. Placed together by the same person. The difference is the price. I have both honestly the heimdallr is a better watch. I have done a comparison in a different RUGGED WAY. I roughly treated both in a non careful way and my heimdallr is still the same with less wear and tear showing and still feels nice and tight with nothing loose. Saying this my heimdallr feels and acts as new while the other has the opposite feeling. Personally I will go with a heimdallr after the same RUGGED and ROUGH TEST I PUT BOTH THROUGH.The heimdallr feels and looks like it would last longer and withhold more beating then the other. I feel the heimdallr is the best Chinese brand out there. Nice review. Thx...
