It really says something about Clone Wars and Dave Filoni when THIS is the weakest season. While there are definitely duds, the good more than outweighs the bad here. I’m sad I didn’t watch the show growing up, only eventually watching it on Disney+, because it really was something special.

There's actually a reference to Anakin's hatred of sand in The Clone Wars movie. But ironically it's actually written far more precise and natural than what George Lucas was attempting to portray with the line of dialogue from AOTC.

    • @freebandz4332
      @freebandz4332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@theonegoldengryphon it was always interesting, you can say it’s “cringe” or whatever but that doesn’t make it bad. TCW actually simplifies their relationship so much, you can make fun of how cheesy their lines are in the prequels but it’s like that way by design. It’s not because George is some incompetent buffoon like this sheep Schaffrillas likes to echo. It makes complete sense for Anakin and Padmé to be cheesy with each other, did you not cringe whenever your parents were all lovey dovey with each other, or your high school friend and his/her girlfriend/boyfriend? Anakin and Padmé are two people who have never even experienced romantic love before, Anakin is a literal abstinent space monk, and Padmé swore her life to public service. Of course it’s awkward, but it’s also endearing because of how honest and pure it is. It’s completely fair to dislike it, but that doesn’t make it bad, is my point.

I think in the "Trying to capture Dooku" arc, the pirates didn't actually drug Ani and Obi. They switched their cups with the other pirates next to them so they didn't have their drugged drinks. Plus in the next episode, Ani says that he "only had a sip" while Obi replies with "We were drugged, obviously." But they both have their cheeky 'I'm being sarcastic' smiles plastered in their faces lol. So its my personal head-canon that Anakin and Obi-Wan got black out drunk then woke up in a cell, and that makes the episode even funnier lmao

Dooku said some stuff (Grievous not budging or speaking the entire time as he sat on the throne), and capped it all off by giving the general a lightsaber, offhandedly mentioning on his way out that it was a great gift to be given to a DROID. The next few panels you see Grievous still sitting there, but getting continuously more agitated and livid, until a magna guard comes closer to check on him. Ahsoka really is one of the best written characters in TV history. She starts off as a cocky kid and, despite being hated by fans, the writers don’t make her character do a 180 in one episode, but she grows over several seasons. It really showed that everything about Ahsokas character was purposeful and Filoni stuck to his guns despite fans backlash against her character. 10/10 character writing one of the best Star Wars characters.

    In defense of Yoda's characterization.
Order 66 was centered on the knowledge that Jedi precognition was based around sensing intent. With the inhibitor chips stopping the clones from even knowing that they had the capacity to have the intent to kill Jedi. So until that moment on kashyyyk Yoda had absolutely no reason to believe the clones were a threat and treated them the same way he would treat any of his subordinates. But when he sensed all of the Jedi death, and the two troopers advancing on him had their intentions on full display, he quickly understood what was going on and knew there would be no reasoning with them.

@@LordTurg323 well... He is already like 500 years old during the prequel era, so I don't think that 16 year span is the part where he "got wise." I think that, despite being extremely wise in the prequel era, he is also too arrogant to accept that the Jedi order is in real danger, which is evident by the advice he gives to Anikan during Revenge of the Sith. It's not necessarily bad advice to give a Jedi, but he didn't realise that the reason Anikan really needed advice was because he had become dissilutioned with the Jedi. He was too arrogant to realise that Anikan angry with the Jedi, and not just with the loss he was about to face

It's also further strengthens his characterization.
His peers and students, exterminated - the act felt by him due their connections to the Force. His otherwise completely loyal clone subordinates- hijacked and used as tools of betrayal in the Jedi's weakest moment.
It's a testament to his strength that he did not fall to the darkside from this act of premeditated treachery. It adds to his character.

I think Duel of a Droid is an underrated episode personally. Downfall of a Droid is generally a mess, but Duel of a Droid really adds a lot of great development to R2 and Anakin's relationship, there's some great action and the soundtrack really hits in that episode.
Also, the point of the fight with Ahsoka and Grievous is that Grievous CAN easily beat her, but spends his time toying with her due to his overconfidence, which Ahsoka uses against him.

I didn't really have a problem following who's who concerning the clones. Most of the main ones, like Rex, Cody, Echo and Fives have some distinct characterization both on their armor and their faces. And if they don't, than the writers made sure that they were still somehow distinct from the other clones, like in the Landing at Point Rain episode Waxer and Boil, the two clones from the Ryloth arc, show up and they are the only ones wearing scout trooper armor. So yeah, I didn't really have a problem with that but I understand that someone might have gotten confused, they are clones after all.

The ending line is kinda weird tho. "To die for one's people, is a great sacrifice. To live for one's people, an ever GREATER sacrifice." Obviously, it's supposed to refer to survivor's guilt and how sometimes it's not the best course of action to recklessly charge into battle for every situation, however, especially in an episode where so many people died in service of a virtually pointless battle, to imply that Senator Chuchi is the one with the greater burden comes off as tone deaf, even if the message isn't exactly wrong.

I feel like Grievous did improve a little, but it just took too long. By the end, he was finally starting to be like he was in 2003, definitely not to that extent, but he was getting there. Two examples I like to think about is 1) when he fights Obi-Wan during the youngling arc in season 5. Just before they start fighting, there's five seconds where Grievous tears his way through a group of clones and then brutally murders one of them.
The second, is in the unfinished Crystal Crisis arc in which Grievous is kind of scary sometimes. But most importantly, when he fights Obi-Wan in the last episode, he disarms him almost immediately, which is a lot more like the 2003 Grievous. I also like his entrance in Grievous Intrigue, in season 2, because for a second, he feels threating. He cuts through the door with his lightsabers, you hear the tapping on the metal, and then he suddenly kicks the door out and it ends up killing one of the clones. I think the problem with Grievous is that they kept putting him in situations where he had to run away or else he would die (which obviously can't happen) or he would only be fighting Jedi that have to be alive for RotS, so he can't be a killing machine and just slaughter them. They really should've introduced us to some new Jedi that aren't in RotS and then we would have disposable Jedi for Grievous to ruthlessly murder during the show. Also, his reliance on his Magnaguards also dulled his fighting. I don't think he could've reached the level of the 2003 Grievous, (I don't think anything will) but he could've been better. However, I do still like him because I always loved him as a kid and part of that wonder is still there. Also, come on, they started delving into his backstory a little bit in Lair of Grievous but then dropped it. Some of that stuff was actually kind of interesting. Part of me still wants to see what he looks like with his mask off

In regards to the slick episode, it makes perfect sense why he’d want to defect. The clones are slaves to the republic (and the Jedi). They may be clones but they are also people. Of course slick would want freedom for his brothers. I wish this had been explored more in the series or at least have to Jedi address it.

I genuinely don’t understand how people found Ashoka intolerable in the beginning, she just seemed like a kid (kids are annoying guys) and growing up I saw a lot of myself in her (maybe that says a lot about me…and perhaps not in a good way haha) overall though she was (and still is) very relatable in the way she acted. Being able to grow up with a character like Ashoka weirdly taught me a lot, especially when she’d do or say something stupid and there’d be an almost immediate consequence for her action. Which I think was great for the younger viewers of the time who acted a lot like her as they’d learn whilst she learned.

I'm going to say it, this show knew how to use Jar Jar, for the most part. I'm actually going to point out Gungun General on this one as the best example. When the clones realize that Jar Jar is a force of chaos and just point him at the enemy, that's hilarious and ingenious. As a previous comment I found said "The clones weaponized Jar Jar".
It doesn't make him a good character, and he is in this show way too much, but this idea that he is so terrible that people in the universe don't like him is funny. It's like the creators wanted to have fun and make people hate him more
