So helpful ! I love the natural bird website, it's the ONLY place that has amazing natural toys and ships to spain without extreme shipping costs. I'd have no idea it exists without you and sophie!
Hi to you David from Australia, I have to say you have the best videos for owning and getting cockatiels, my little Eric is still now going off after watching Fish and Chip he is so excited. I have had Eric for 7 years and he has had a lot of health issues and it's draining the bank but I DONT CARE AND WOULD DO IT OVER AGAIN. We have the vet again tomorrow and its worst worry than when my kids where young, I LIVE FOR HIM. It is good that you put it out there that not everyone is cut out to own one of these guys, they are alot of work and time and if you dont have that DO NOT GET ONE. The flip side is for every second of time and love you put into them you get SOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE BACK FROM THEM. Your vids are still helpful to me and i have had them for many, many years. Keep up what your doing david and Sophie it is so IMPORTANT the content you are giving to people and knowledge as i have said you are my go to for things i need, even just comfort in what im doing. I adore fish and chip and they make me laugh when im worried about eric. I can not praise what you give and teach enough. A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO YOU SOPHIE, FISH, AND CHIP. SORRY FOR THE BOOK SIZE COMMENT. 💖💖💖💖🦜🦜🙏🙏
Hey Sharon, Thank you for the kind comment! We will keep trying to put out interesting and useful content as we genuinely like making videos and helping others. You are right, it's so important to put the time and effort into your parrot as you end up getting it back!
My mom had a cockatiel a few years back and every night she covered his cage and he never had night frights, at least from what I remember. I can't remember what she did to prevent them though. Also I love the paintings in the background.
Hey there! It is possible for a cockatiel to be covered and not have night frights. I know another of my subscribers manages it too! It just increases the chances of one if a cockatiel is nervous or can't see what's going on! Thank you lol!
Good stuff. Never needed a night light for my birds. I also fully cover them for the night. I never get night frights. Maybe I am just lucky I dunno. I do have water fountains running even at night though. Not sure if the white noise helps reduce the night fright chances or not.
I've kept my Cockatiel's cage covered at night for she's never had a "night fright" . She's 11 years old and I got her when she was a fledgling. I hope she never has one. Thanks.
I'm lucky that my flat comes with it's own night light positioned near to the window. With the trees outside I still have privacy, in fact I'm thinking of not bothering to put up curtains. That may change in the winter though if the room proves to be too difficult to keep warm
I got my first cockatiel today and at first he was so scared , I got him from a pet shop as breeders was really far from unfortunately. His been chatting away tho and eating and drinking. I was told to leave him in the cage for 2-3 days, then slowly work with him
That’s the sensible approach! Take your time and be patient! I have videos on bonding with cockatiels and loads of other cockatiel content on the channel!
hello David I wanted to ask a question related to cokatiels whenever I open them the female cockatiel comes out of the cage patiently but the male sits in the cage and when the female starts to fly around a little bit the male comes now the room where I open them has windows in it without any curtains so the male trys to fly out the window but it's closed all the time so when he finally lands you can see blood in his nose it is not dripping but you can just see it any tips on how to fix this??and the female is around 10-11 months while the male is still 5-6 months and they fight a little bit in their cage
Hey there, It may be worth looking at managing their hormones and ensuring that any fighting doesn't get serious. Regarding the injury he has likely grazed himself. I have a video on parrot first aid that may help. If you notice any signs of a serious injury its best to contact a vet!
Any advice on my cockatiel being extremely aggressive and dive bombing ever time we enter the living room or go near his space- could be any bit of the living room each day. We've had him 2 years and spend lots of time with him. But he is so aggressive and don't know how to stop it. He's out of the cage all day and gets a regular fly around the house. Any advice would be appreciated thank you
Hey Marina, The biggest cause for this is usually hormones in cockatiels! Especially young males! It's good he's out and about lots and gets plenty of exercise as that can cause issues if they have too much energy. I'd recommend watching my hormones video for some tips! I'd also work on training and re-directing the behaviour if possible!
@@fabster5005 no problems! Hopefully they help! We try our best to give them the best lives! We have had challenges too though with hormones and problems caused by their past conditions! It’s just important to work through them and find out whats going on!
Hey there, It might be best to work on more basic bonding with them first! Training takes trust! You could also use target training to put some distance between you and them!
Hey M, Target training would be a good way of doing that. Also reinforcing every time they go into their cage! Making the process relaxed and allowing extra time too!
Hey Amy, I'd say so, yes. If you have a cluttered and crowded cage it can restrict movement, create "nesting zones" and be difficult to maintain. A cage with lots of perches and fun toys is awesome. But a cage with TOO many I think is a bit too much!

I think white noise does help! We would run it over night too if it didn't disturb the conures sleep pattern!
Covering is a difficult topic too!

Yeah it is something worth considering. They are pretty heat tolerant, but a little less so to cold!

How do I get my conure back in the cage after he’s been out
Hey M,
Target training would be a good way of doing that. Also reinforcing every time they go into their cage! Making the process relaxed and allowing extra time too!
I'm wondering, can you put just TOO MUCH STUFF in the cage? There is a bit a contention around here on the subject.
