I don't now, but I used to work at an assisted living facility. One of my residents was a stroke victim with half his body paralyzed. Bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed, getting on and off the toilet, plugging in his wheelchair... He couldn't do any of it on his own. I kept imagining scenarios for how he could get his independence back. A robotic exoskeleton supporting his legs and spine? Stem cell injection? Maybe his chair could be upgraded to lie back whenever he wanted so he could sleep without waiting for us caregivers (since we were often held up with other residents.) I wish brain-computer interface implants were available at the time (and also covered by insurance.)
I imagine you could control your wheelchair as well as long as put a computer into it with Bluetooth. At least until they come out with the ability to connect with the nerves in your spine with future nuiralink versions.
I’ve had young onset Parkinson’s since I late 20s. I would do anything to get neurolink. My body is so fatigued and out of control, 24/7. Meds don’t work anymore. Nolan has his procedure here at Barrow neurology which is where I’m treated
I wish you the best. They're going to try and tackle these issues as quickly as they humanly can. The current priorities for them are helping those with spinal cord injuries and ALS. Next will be blindness, then likely tinnitus and hearing loss. I'm not sure about after that.
Thank you Ryan Tanaka. Love these videos. Even if I have seen everything you share, it’s great to have a condensed summary and to know I haven’t missed anything else!
The possibilities to improve the situation for the physically challenged people are fantastic. It is like release prisoners from an infinite jail sentence. I am glad that you keep us updated on progress. Glad that Elon pushes the developments in the area with concerns about all sides of the process. I can not imagine that there could be a better person to direct and encourage the developments as Elon. Nor such a person that can as him to excite workers and the world to these new processes and succeed. I am amazed and proud of all those that have seen the goals, accepted the challenges, caused the changes and look forward to expanding the efforts. Truly amazing.
Good update. Would love to hear from P2 & P3. Hope Neuralink implants BCI in a patient who is blind. That can help lots of blind people around the globe.
consuner grade in a century is Neuralink will control a person's entire life...Your doors, lights, media, cursor, payments, phone calls, text, cars, medical analyst
“We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.” “We need more drones like you.” “Freedom is irrelevant. Self-determination is irrelevant. You must comply.”
As soon as Neuralink is available to the public, I'm getting it. The people who have the balls to get it in the beginning will have a significant advantage in life I believe.
Thanks for the kind words Tim. I'm cheating in these videos by almost entirely reading a script I wrote. If I had to speak off the cuff, these videos would be unbearable!
As a paraplegic, I think there are much better alternative solutions to cure SCIs. Take NVG-291, for example; it's a simple injection under the skin and potentially good for MS and other neurological diseases too. However, if I ever have a reason to install a Neuralink, it would be for memory augmentation.
Any idea why Neuralink is going international? Is it because they are limited in the number of test patients they can have in the US or in the type of tests they can perform or to go to market later?
I believe they just want things to operate in series, rather than parallel. If they can get through these trials and regulatory hurdles in different countries simultaneously, they might as well do it. The goal is just to get to market with a safe, secure, and effective, scalable device as soon as possible. If they get through the trials, it'll help them get to these commercial markets more quickly.
Great content I've subscribed, but the video when you're talking is quite unusual on that your image floats all the time zooms in distorts you face, almost uncomfortable, not a big deal, you have good screentime. Sorry to be that guy.
The audio timing with my voice is off, the color grading is too red, the zooming in and out is unnecessary, the timing of my speaking between sections is too abrupt. There are low hanging items to improve.
Thanks for the update! When will they make nanomachines that can integrate and maintain the neural lace throughout our brains? I would like Matrix-style VR for gaming please.
Impressive! But in Startrek, the back story of the Borg was they were once similar to us and then got the idea to connect their brains to form a collective consciousness. Look how that turned out for them. 😮
Very important video. I'm surprised that Elon did not refer to the use of crypto to fund some of this. Great opportunity to incentivize using donated currency that is increasing in value. .001 BTC is now worth $1,000. Sue hope the manufacturing of this hardware is automated. Wishing all the best to the development of tis technology.
Imagine if Neuralink can really pull off creating the technology for $5k surgeries for all the quadriplegic and ALS people in the country…or world. The amount of human suffering that would be prevented.
ALS IS NOT RARE. The 'rare disease' designation is given to diseases with less than 200 thousand currently LIVING with a disease in the United States. It doesn't consider how many are diagnosed. #ALS patients die very quickly so the number LIVING remains low. ALS is diagnosed at roughly the same frequency as multiple sclerosis which affects between 800K to 1 million people in the United States. (4-5 times the limit for a rare disease) YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONE COULD BE NEXT
I think from a practical standpoint rocket science is harder but neuroscience requires more thought and understanding. If you screw up in space heading towards Venus you might end up on Mars if you screw up neurosurgery the patient is left in a real predicament. Mr. X
7:25: While I agree there is a lot of misinformers trying to bash Neuralink, your apparent belief that an infomercial of Neuralink employees claiming they like animals constitutes factual evidence of the treatment of the animals is not encouraging me about your own objectivity...

Neuroscience is vastly more difficult. Why? We fully understand rocket science but not the brain. Yet, warp drive tech is the next step for SpaceX, but I don't consider it a rocket science since they wouldn't be considered as rockets.
the content of this vid isn't too bad but I struggled to watch it due to the over use of zooming in and out on static scenes with you in. you're massively overusing it in my point of view and it's making me feel sick :S. I won't be back but i thought you deserved to know why. wishing you the best of luck in the future!
I appreciate you sharing this feedback. I completely agree with you and am going to make sure not to have the excessive zooms moving forward. The audio timing is also way off. These items will be addressed.
Does Neuralink have plans to address spinal cord injuries at the thoracic level (T12) or lower, such as lumbar or sacral injuries? If so, what advancements or challenges are anticipated for targeting these regions? thank you 💐
I believe they do; however, any surgery in or near the spinal cord is incredibly tricky, so it will take many years, maybe decades, until they are showing they can meaningfully physically improve lives of those who have these types of injuries.
Elon is such a walking oxymoron. In my personal opinion, he is demonstrably jumpstarting and moving humanity forward in some incredible ways with technology, and is simultaneously one of the most manipulative, self-agrandising, dislikable, and dishonest public figures on the world stage. I'm such a fan of SpaceX and Neurolink. And early Tesla was largely responsible for providing to the market that mass produced electric cars were viable. But being aware of all his nonsense, political, economic, personal, and other arrogance, the dude just makes my skin want to crawl away.
Lol. He is the GOAT in every way. His politics are: don't steal, don't enter the US illegally, don't be racist or sexist. Also, he's one of the most genuine, honest, authentic, caring, comedic, and humble people on the planet.
Maybe Rachael levy is writing hit pieces but you gotta back up your claims or you're just another bootlicking fan boy. I hope spaceX and neuralink succeed but hate musk myself but I won't ignore the negatives
I have young onset Parkinson’s. I don’t care what a CEO does I would do anything to get this implant. My body is out of my control and every day is the hardest day to get through physically. happy 2025 Neuralink guy
Haha, thank you. Happy 2025 to you too.
I bet 10 years we have neurapod connected to limbs that work very well.
.. a paralyzed person could summon a robot taxi that has a Optimus robot and have vastly improved autonomy
Interface is best❤
I imagine you could control your wheelchair as well as long as put a computer into it with Bluetooth. At least until they come out with the ability to connect with the nerves in your spine with future nuiralink versions.
@FSK1138 Why a robot 🤖 inside a robot. The car is also a robot. Doesn't need a driver
@dennisFarmer1993 the disabled person may not be able to get into the vehicle or stow away a wheelchair
Or have their paralysis bridged by two neuralink devices and regain personal mobility.
I enjoy your updates on the progress. I hope more people come to watch your content so they no more about neuralink from a truthful source.
Thanks for the kind words and support Kevin.

It depends on how it is implemented and regulated. If left unregulated then I’d say it is a likely outcome but it isn’t guaranteed
My guess is, it will happen much sooner than that!

I plan to get one as soon as the effective bandwidth of the BCI exceeds 100Mbps
I'm glad for people like you - I'd like the benefits, too, but I'm far too chicken to be an early adopter. :)
Thank Alot. Good Luck to all

Great Job Elon. So many ppl will benefit from this🙏
Thank you ❤

Okay, will do. Thank you for the encouragement. I love when folks like you tell me ❤️

The main stream media try to target many EM's companies! Tesla and SpaceX ! I just don't know why Neruallink is also the target.
