ya i'm guessing that is what they were going for. I thought it's interesting that he said "I think I'm lost" and she responded, "Lost...?" as if it was a vaguely familiar word, or maybe to imply "we're all lost, what do you mean?" etc. idk I might be cooking a little too hard here haha. it's a surreal cutscene, ya Edit: I also thought it was interesting how she warned him that there is something wrong in the town...but sort of left out the fact that it is like...violently dangerous. I understand the lore of silent hill is that it is basically purgatory and everyone's silent hill is different for each individual, so maybe her interpretation is more tame than James's. I also wondered why she was so defensive when Jame's tapped her shoulder: "No, I was only-!" as if she was caught doing something she shouldn't have. Like, she seemed confused in the middle of a foggy graveyard? If I was James, I would've assumed that this lady was a dead sprit, you know, so maybe she was looking at her own grave or something, IDK. Would be really interested to see someone who is familiar with the lore to explain what this scene means/who this girl is. I noticed that all of the letters/notes so far, that Jack has found, clearly tie in with each other, like how the letter at the record store said "the guy seemed drunk with one half of the record player", and it just so happened that the other half was at the pub, and how in the vinyl store the poster said "music makes you remember memories which you forgot" and that is exactly what James does when he glues the record back together. TL:DR this scene with the girl clearly has a point and I really wonder what it is as everything so far in this game has been extremely intentional.
@@ljtheawesome7112 I don't want to spoil it for you so I will only say that yes the girl had that reaction for a reason. A major reason. Knowing the context of this game and what really happened to Mary, the opening shot of James' hands and the motions they were doing over the sink is such a clever detail to add.
Just before the scene starts, you can hear what sounds like a metal object fall into the sink. Sounds like he might have dropped the ring down the drain. Speculation on my part, of course.
@@Maskless17 I'm going to do a playthrough on my second channel, not sure about a full analysis though, because I only recently covered the original game, might be too samey, especially with thematic breakdown.
I love how they made James seem totally dissociated with reality. Like he's depressed and is just "functioning". Great work in the Animation & Acting departments ❤
I adore the old voice acting. They're like if you gather a bunch of introverted psychopath and let them interact with each other. It's charming in a sense that it's supposed to be so aggravatingly odd and disconnected that you couldn't help but to think that everyone's not who they say they are. But this new voice acting is just... Sublime. They actually sound like real humans now, with emotions! I freakin love it.
i feel like this makes it sooo much more easier to get into for new gamers, like obviously the style is very different but it makes it feel like a modern game again!
Loved the uncanny-ness of the original but it definitely had its weaknesses, this feels way more cohesive and realistic whilst still capturing that awkwardness and uncertainty. Mary’s letter at the end of the original is still one of my favourite pieces of voice acting of all time though, i haven’t heard it in this version but to me that’s almost impossible to beat.
@@fire.walk.with.me.430 Remakes are slop, not even art. they don't respect the old games, in fact konami is purposefully hiding the og games so they can do remakes and replace the old
2:04:57 I don't need to tell that this story is basically James' reason why he's now at Silent Hill The snake is the disease. The woman is Mary. The man is James. In the story's end, you are asked on who the blame falls. The man for approaching the woman with the blade. The woman for carelessly running into the snake. Or the snake for simply being there. James for murdering his sick wife. His sick wife who fell ill. Or the disease that made his wife fall ill. By choosing the snake, Jack blames the disease that caused Mary to be bedridden and left James all alone. Let's see if unforeseen consequences arise later from this simple blame game...
My momma wasn't big on video games, but she would watch my dad play a select few including this one. I remember sitting downstairs and watching dad play silent hill and we'd all get snacks. On Oct 30th, my mom will have been gone a year. I am genuinely so happy that this video is here in this month. Thank you, Sean.
There's comments like this that are more wholesome than they are sad. I also lost my mom in late October 4 years ago, so I know where this comment is coming from. Stay strong you're doing great.
I feel your pain, girl. My grandpa died the 25th of November, he's been gone for nearly a year now. He's the only family member I have who would sit down on the couch with me and watch me play video games, even though he didn't understand much of it or ever showed interest in playing them himself. It still pains me to remember him, but I got better now. I hope you're feeling better aswell.
I know how you feel honey, it was my parents' favourite game too I sadly lost both so when I watched Jack play this game I started crying. I'm just here to tell you, you're not alone and if you feel you too have to cry then do it. Death sucks.
All I can think about is Evelien in the kitchen making some coffee, and hearing Sean yell from his room "Where's my wife?! Give me the drugs!!" over and over.
fun fact: "There was a HOLE here, it's GONE now", is a symbolism of James's alcoholism. "HOLE", being the depth of his psyche, and "GONE" being that he now has to face what he's dealing with. like most people who suffer from alchoholism do, James drowned his sorrows and problems with drinking. Hence why, he finds this in Neely's. Now, the hole he was "fulfilling" is no longer available, and he must fight through and explore his inner concious with clear vision.
Just a little lore drop for those who may not know: The lying figures, which are the first monsters you come across, represent his wife after dying, the top half resembling a body bag, and the bottom half resembling a woman’s bottom half, with undergarments and heels
You can also read its design as James struggling for freedom while confined to their relation near the end, sh2 monster designs are absurdly complex :D
Oh that explains them because they don't look like other things I've seen people describe them us, but a body bag, yeah I see that! Is there an overt or inferred meaning to the double legs ones? Haha
As someone who played the original obsessively back in the day, I was excited (and a bit concerned) about how this game would turn out! Looks pretty good so far!
All the hype, and negativity pre release aside. My biggest issue is that her Face/Head proportion feels WAY Off from her body. looks like she's having an allergic shellfish reaction or something.
29:31 "If you're reading this leave. This place is not what it seems. Sometimes you just have to look behind." **Physically looks behind him instead of flipping the very obvious note** This is why we watch you, Jack 😊
I really like the idea that James just talks to himself in a monotone voice about mundane stuff despite being in literal hell just.... blankly staring into the abyss with some light tinnitus
For reference, within Silent Hill lore, the town of Silent Hill is a real resort town and people live there normally. Thanks to the nature of the sacred land, things like ritual and superstition have power. Due to various circumstances, Silent Hill generally presents itself in a few ways. Silent Hill, the 'real world' resort town - Foggy World, the primary place that those who are 'lost', in a way, may end up (presents itself differently to different people) - and Otherworld, the nightmare brought to life (also presents itself differently to different people).
I don't think the creators actually intended it that way. None of them have confirmed this, and I think they've even said the opposite. As far as I've seen, Silent Hill is just straight up abandoned. The people are just gone and there isn't an explanation as to why. This 'different world' theory is fan-made from what I've seen. The 'fog world' and 'otherworld' were just terms in the guide to differentiate the altered states of the same world. People misunderstood what it meant.
Just gotta think of the normal locals seeing a tourist show up and think "oh christ, is this one gonna kick the bucket too? oh he's swinging a pipe in the middle of the intersection"
@@ZehShugugn Going by that logic doesn't hold up when you consider James makes points throughout this game that even just a few years ago he and his wife were regularly vacationing in Silent Hill and even later his wife was hospitalized in Silent Hill's hospital until recently. Similarly, despite many years passing after the chaos of the first Silent Hill and 2, there is dialogue in both SH 3 and 4 that point not only to people and businesses being in Silent Hill still, but crimes as well. Despite the town seeming empty in the games themselves, flavor text, interactables, and broadcasts seem to paint the town as still active in some capacity. None of this would make sense if the town has been abandoned ever since SH1.
@AlexLewis-ph5jm nah thats each to their own, they are two different games. Re4 is still an amazing game. It doesn't mean they are better than the other
Pyramid Head isn’t a manifestation of Jame’s anger, it’s actually his guilt. Silent Hill has a long history of executions and the executioners were dressed like Pyramid Head, James saw the executioners in a painting when he was in Silent Hill with his wife and it stuck with him. Pyramid Head is the manifestation of James’ guilt and his unconscious belief that he deserves to be punished for what he did even though he doesn’t remember. His purpose is to force James to remember that he is guilty, which is why when he does remember, he tells Pyramid Head that he no longer needs him.
Not only does the fog look great and atmospheric, it’s also really good for performance of the game! It allows the devs to decrease the render distance a lot without anyone noticing since the fog will just hide it. :)
this was true for the orginal, BUT this fog is much different running this game on UEVR sees some issues when attempting to render the thick fog, especially when running through it! meanwhile, the beginning area with little to no fog is the smoothest part of the game modern fog in modern games, especially like this, is actually quite straining to render the game would most likely run much smoother in VR if the fog was reduced in some way
If you listen to Angela's voice when James turned back around and she asks "Did you uh... Did you need anything else?" She sounds scared. If you know her backstory that's just heart breaking
@@jody1570 MASSIVE SPOILERS! She's a SA victim. Her father and her brother r@%ed her multiple times when she was younger, causing her to fear men. So James suddenly approaching her for no apparent reason would make her nervous.
I love how Sean keeps apologizing for the possibility of missing some stuff due to fear of the Silent Hill fandom wanting his head on a stick but I'm just so excited to see him play it that I couldn't care less about the details! That's what we are here for, to fill you in. So far this is an excellent remake, they respected everything that made the original great but fixed what needed to be fixed or even added some stuff that feel natural, thank you for playing!
Yeah exactly! And like, it'd be impossible to include every single second because then the videos would be 6hrs long or so. I have a feeling it’s also because when he played mouthwashing people were mad at him for not getting the point of the game even though he’s pointed out that he misses details a lot in games because of his adhd
55:18 Pretty much With the exception of Silent Hill 1, all the monsters you see are manifestations of the darkest parts of the Protagonist's subconscious, the reason Silent Hill 1 is different is because the manifestations are from Alessa's mind, Harry isn't being confronted by his own deepest fears and traumas, he's being forced to witness someone else's

Silent Hill is supposedly loosely based on Centralia, PA, a nearly abandoned town constantly shrouded in fog, with an unceasing fire underneath it due to a gas leakage from mining!
@@smackedpickle fun fact, but that’s a common misconception. It’s interpretation in the movie, though, *is* based on Centralia, which is where the misconception likely stems from.
Fun fact, the dialogue near the beginning from mary coming from the radio is: (spoilers by the way) "james, im here, come to _____ (im guessing rosewood something or other), im waiting for you" then after a short pause "Why did you kill me james?"
I'm only 22 minutes in but all the cultural quotes and references thus far like "bloood", "road works ahead, yeah I sure hope it does!" and anything from HotFuzz makes my soul happy, it's a nice bit of reassurance to know that my inner monologue isn't that crazy after all. Thanks for another entertaining video Mr SepticEye🤘
I have 6 hours so far and haven’t gotten to the first boss. I think I’m almost done with the blue creek apts. I love this game and have mostly walked the entire time unless it makes sense to run. Full immersion. Never took my time in a game like I am this one. Tensed up walking down a corridor hearing the static ramp up best horror experience I’ve ever had.
I live in Pennsylvania, approximately 45 minutes from Centralia. I recently drove through at night, and the experience was quite eerie due to the darkness. Currently, only one person remains there; they refuse to leave. There's supposedly a very haunted church at the top of the hill and my friend and I are going to explore it when it gets warmer out!
8:30 that ghosting is caused either by TAA (temporal anti aliasing) or DLSS/FSR, its a product of the frames having to be processed by whichever algorithm is being used having to upscale from a smaller resolution (in the case of DLSS/FSR) or smooth out edges based on previous frames (in the case of TAA). it is kinda annoying once you notice it
@@jacksepticeyeIt's most likely TAA. And because the game is made on UE5, unfortunately you are probably not able to disable it, sometimes you can tinker with the Engine.ini file but that's about it, it's just embedded deeply with the engine and lots of effects are making use of this « anti aliasing » DLSS on some games actually make it look better, NVidia's AA implementation (DLAA) just works better because it has gives less focus to the previous frames unlike Epic's thing.
EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY LEON S KENNEDY VERSUS JAMES SUNDERLAND begin leon: i may be a rookie but on these bars im cooking killed mr x with a rocket launcher, saved the president’s daughter james: have you seen my wife mary?
55:23 the whole symbology of the game is around guilt and sexual frustration. The monsters you've been fighting look like they have their hands stuck in their pants, for example.
I kinda thought that the first monsters you encounter have something to do with Brookhaven hospital (they appear as if they’re in a straight jacket, and the vomiting could have smth to do with medication/forced feeding)
@@seanwallcroft6272 the interpretation can also go around the feeling of being restrained or stuck, but also, if you look at them closely, they look like the Y cut made in the mortuaries, like they are stuck in a bag of flesh and skin. Again, another analogy at Mary's death and, the fact that only their legs are exposed from the bag goes once more towards James' sexual frustration.
@@payt00n The creature design in this game specifically is profound! I mentioned it in some other comments but I'll resend it here: The main straitjacket looking monsters were designed when Ito (who I believe was the character designer) was working late at night and one of his co-workers walked by with his hoodie up and his arms in the sweater pockets. He found it gave him an unnerving and horrifying silhouette paired with the dark atmosphere of their workplace at that hour. That, paired with the later combination of BDSM tropes is supposed to signify sexual frustrations as well as embody some other things surrounding James' character that I wont get into for fear of spoilers. Pyramind Head who was originally meant to be a character exclusive to James and what he's experiencing in the town (though im fairly sure that's a character that got changed to not be exclusive to James because of how iconic it became), was supposed to be an embodiment for Sunderland's shame and guilt. The massive and heavy pyramid on his head forces him to hold his gaze down in shame. Its a cool touch. Theres a lot more! I recommend diving as deep into it as you can if you're interested in character design, it really doesn't get much better than this.
47:26 These are actually fake stand in names for real medications. Relevmid is Revlimid and Imatnelimed is Imatinib, which both treat cancer, and Xalprazinax is Alprazolam which treats anxiety! Not sure what Berolmin is supposed to be, but I assume it's something along those lines! 😅 Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it Berolmin might be Belinostat, which specifically treats t cell lymphoma. It's a rough medication to take too, the symptoms can almost be just as bad as the cancer itself.

Also gotta say, the character models and voice acting are SO EXPRESSIVE! I honestly love it and think its a huge improvement. It feels much more immersive to me.
I disagree heavily, James voice acting is completely fine and does the original justice but Angela's voice actor is a terrible choice. She sounds like she does'nt even wanna be there and act.
Thank you for playing this game! My dad was a big Silent Hill fan/Resident Evil, horror genre gamer before he passed away in 2019. This reminded me of when I was growing up and he played this for the first time and just our bonding moments of trying to figure out puzzles and getting creeped out by the monsters in this game. Thank you again, Seán!! 🥹❤😁
I know I’m late, but 🥺🥺 One of my very dear friends from high school and I would go to Centralia, PA (the place where this games location/town is inspired by). Graffiti Highway being taken away was the saddest thing that ever happened, because that means our names we left were gone forever. They covered it with dirt in 2020 Going here and spending time with my friends, running around some of the abandoned lots and trying to not get caught, just being kids. This game means a lot to me as well, because of him. I will always remember him in our special place when I think of Silent Hill 💕 He passed away from a self inflicted injury in 2017. This remaster coming out meant so much and seeing you play it makes me so happy 💕
Glad to see you having fun with the game, it's my first time playing it and already I can see why people fell in love with it. Really enjoy your point in 11:52-12:09 cause that's how I felt too at that scene! The characters still have that sort off vibe but these voice actors are giving it more life. It's like you can tell the characters are really having to process what they say or respond to others. Can't wait to see more 😆
The whole yelling "WHERE's my WIFE??? WHERE's my WIFEEEE???" motif suddenly added a whole Liam Neeson vengange movie feel to the game, and gotta say, it kinda adds. Boosts the feels. Noice. :)
The fan base can definitely be abrasive, and that is absolutely happening right now. But tbh, most of the energy is currently positive in the fan base and it’s like a breath of fresh air to see impassioned people rallying around a very well crafted remake and celebrating its strengths, discussing some of its shortcomings in a constructive way, and overall just being fun to engage with. There’s some pretty damn cool silent hill fans out there.
never got around to playing the silent hill games or even like watching playthroughs, I know them by name is all and I'm so glad Jack is taking us on an adventure with him through the remake, had a horrible day and his videos always make it better when I see them pop on my notifications
Playing the originals, I fear, has a feeling that is lost....back then that was the best/height of graphics and game play kinda thing, so expectations were different. It was terrifying as a young kid, and so thoroughly fleshed out, an experience like no other at the time. The nostalgia hits very hard with these, especially the soundtracks, but it's amazing to bring the love of this to a new generation/people who never got to experience it. I LOVE that Jack is the one to bring this to us, I'm hoping and confident he'll do it justice and get more to appreciate it.
It's just so cozy to sit down and watch Seán's playthroughs, or just have them in the background like I'm hanging out with someone as I do stuff. I keep going back to the longer series from time to time, and I don't doubt this one will be going on that list too
He’s an absolute godsend for me when I have to do something painful like the dishes or laundry. Having him on distracts me from the pain and I get through it nice and easy. Plus it helps me stay on task.
I'm 21 minutes in and the references to vine, classic YT videos, and Hot Fuzz are making me grin ear to ear. Jack's gameplay is just something else - he's brilliant at games, so insightful, and is humour is unmatched. Lotta love for his let's plays.
I feel like the reason they made the game's combat and controls better are likely because of the new generation where most of their games don't have tank controls, not to mention that there are probably a good number who might not even be able to comprehend tank controls given that they grew up with games with either 3rd person over-the-shoulder or first person camera angles.
Sometimes retro game mechanics can hold up pretty good, such as turn based combat, topdown perspectives, etc. Tank controls however, have been abandoned because it was never fun, unless you are driving a tank. I do think the combat gives you a greater sense of power then makes sense for our protagonist, which lowers the tension, but its not much. The protagonist is still weak enough that 2 enemies at once is more then enough to make things frantic.
@@FastForwardPlans Yeah, I'm with you on that. Turn-based is retro but it's also not at the same time. It's one of those things that I don't think we'll really get rid of any time soon since any grid-based strategy game usually opporates in phases/turns. Or the older Final Fantasies which had their turn based combat. But yeah, some things have a charm to them while other things sort of lost that sort of sparkle when better and more effective methods came out such as tank controls for most games being sort of forgotten unless like you said, you're driving a tank.
This is my first time ever watching a play-through of this game, and I’m enjoying it a lot! I get too scared playing these games and so I always choose your play through because your commentary is the best 😂 Looking forward to watching the other videos!

This looks so good so far! I actually really like what they did with James. He still feels a bit detached but the dialogue isn't as clunky. Sometimes the way James says things in the original just makes me laugh when I shouldn't.
Jack almost immediately pointing out the “ghosting” is crazy. He explained it perfectly, it’s a result of the rendering on Unreal Engine (it’s not exclusive to that engine though) it’s an unfortunate side effect of rendering on most popular engines but it’s a small price to pay

Honestly, after watching you for years and years, and no matter how much ive grown, i still find comfort in your videos, thanks for that.its always nice watching one of your videos, while eating, doing something or just laying in bed after work. ❤
The blurry artifact you see might be the result of "Temporal Anti Aliasing" (TAA) or any modern Anti Aliasing that is used by upscaler to achieve high fidelity visual but maintaining stable frame rate, but the side effect is trailing ghostly graphics on a moving geometry
Looks like I got something to watch on my lunch breaks, haven’t seen a Jack video in years but I’ve stayed subbed for ages. Feels like it’s 2016 all over again man.
54:55 Sean was right on the money here. Because his wife was sick, it left James sexually frustrated which is why a few of the monsters have erotic undertones (the leg monsters, the buxom faceless nurses, Pyramid Head dragging around a big phallic object that seems almost useless).

Its good that we have the best of both worlds now
Loved the uncanny-ness of the original but it definitely had its weaknesses, this feels way more cohesive and realistic whilst still capturing that awkwardness and uncertainty.
Mary’s letter at the end of the original is still one of my favourite pieces of voice acting of all time though, i haven’t heard it in this version but to me that’s almost impossible to beat.

I don't need to tell that this story is basically James' reason why he's now at Silent Hill
The snake is the disease.
Let's see if unforeseen consequences arise later from this simple blame game...
hmmm interesting
My momma wasn't big on video games, but she would watch my dad play a select few including this one. I remember sitting downstairs and watching dad play silent hill and we'd all get snacks. On Oct 30th, my mom will have been gone a year. I am genuinely so happy that this video is here in this month. Thank you, Sean.
There's comments like this that are more wholesome than they are sad. I also lost my mom in late October 4 years ago, so I know where this comment is coming from. Stay strong you're doing great.
Sorry for your loss. Glad you’ve got good memories and something to distract you. ❤️
This is a really lovely memory. Thank you for sharing it ❤
I know how you feel honey, it was my parents' favourite game too I sadly lost both so when I watched Jack play this game I started crying. I'm just here to tell you, you're not alone and if you feel you too have to cry then do it. Death sucks.
All I can think about is Evelien in the kitchen making some coffee, and hearing Sean yell from his room "Where's my wife?! Give me the drugs!!" over and over.
😂
Her being like: Yeah, he’s going on decaf for a while.
I think a cool detail that they kept from the original is that if James is close to a item, he will look at it no matter where the camera
BOWWWWWWW HELLO
fun fact:
"There was a HOLE here, it's GONE now", is a symbolism of James's alcoholism.
That's sick!
Just a little lore drop for those who may not know: The lying figures, which are the first monsters you come across, represent his wife after dying, the top half resembling a body bag, and the bottom half resembling a woman’s bottom half, with undergarments and heels
Which isn’t terribly important, but it is funny to know it’s yet another freaky little lady monster James’s mind has come up with
You can also read its design as James struggling for freedom while confined to their relation near the end, sh2 monster designs are absurdly complex :D
Lol I wondering why all those first monsters looked like they had heels on. Their calves must be sore 😂
Also condoms
Oh that explains them because they don't look like other things I've seen people describe them us, but a body bag, yeah I see that! Is there an overt or inferred meaning to the double legs ones? Haha

IIRC in Silent Hill 1, Alessa is the reason for the otherworld existing due to her being tortured, burned alive, etc
None of that made an sense to me lmao

Pyramid Head is a reminder of what James did and who he really is at his core.
Not only does the fog look great and atmospheric, it’s also really good for performance of the game! It allows the devs to decrease the render distance a lot without anyone noticing since the fog will just hide it. :)
That's why the "foggy" look of distant areas in games is called "render fog", they're just allowed to get away wioth it being much closer! 🤣
As far as I am aware, the fog in the original Silent Hill came about because it needed to be there in order for the game to run properly.
my pc needs it lol
Is there an option to make the fog denser. Like 5x?
My gtx 750ti is asking
this was true for the orginal, BUT this fog is much different
running this game on UEVR sees some issues when attempting to render the thick fog, especially when running through it! meanwhile, the beginning area with little to no fog is the smoothest part of the game
modern fog in modern games, especially like this, is actually quite straining to render
the game would most likely run much smoother in VR if the fog was reduced in some way

With the exception of Silent Hill 1, all the monsters you see are manifestations of the darkest parts of the Protagonist's subconscious, the reason Silent Hill 1 is different is because the manifestations are from Alessa's mind, Harry isn't being confronted by his own deepest fears and traumas, he's being forced to witness someone else's

Jack just memeing his way through Silent Hill 2 has made my year. The "Road Works Ahead" Vine is one I still quote on a regular basis
8:30 that ghosting is caused either by TAA (temporal anti aliasing) or DLSS/FSR, its a product of the frames having to be processed by whichever algorithm is being used having to upscale from a smaller resolution (in the case of DLSS/FSR) or smooth out edges based on previous frames (in the case of TAA). it is kinda annoying once you notice it
Ahh probably the DLSS then. I’ll see if turning it off still has decent frames

that longass poem towards the end of the episode gave off those vibes too
As someone who knows nothing about silent hill that's a cool ass creature design that tells something about the protagonist
I mentioned it in some other comments but I'll resend it here:
The main straitjacket looking monsters were designed when Ito (who I believe was the character designer) was working late at night and one of his co-workers walked by with his hoodie up and his arms in the sweater pockets.
Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it Berolmin might be Belinostat, which specifically treats t cell lymphoma. It's a rough medication to take too, the symptoms can almost be just as bad as the cancer itself.

26:12 the funny thing is that you're right here, the lying figure design was inspired by bdsm outfits
When Jacksepticeye posts, my day instantly gets better

This is my first time ever watching a play-through of this game, and I’m enjoying it a lot! I get too scared playing these games and so I always choose your play through because your commentary is the best 😂
Looking forward to watching the other videos!
just absolutely leaped with joy at this! thank you sean!!!!!
me too!!! i took all the air out my room with how hard i gasped
also, love your pfp |-/
@@puddle.drinkeraw thank you!!! not my art, a very talented person on twitter made it but i can’t think of their @!!!
I used to explore abandoned towns and buildings, one time we went into a school that caught on fire and closed down in New Jersey, it was awesome, this remake brings back memories
This looks so good so far! I actually really like what they did with James. He still feels a bit detached but the dialogue isn't as clunky. Sometimes the way James says things in the original just makes me laugh when I shouldn't.
Jack almost immediately pointing out the “ghosting” is crazy. He explained it perfectly, it’s a result of the rendering on Unreal Engine (it’s not exclusive to that engine though) it’s an unfortunate side effect of rendering on most popular engines but it’s a small price to pay
to this day the feat of this game for its time still blows my mind. that and how much freaking detail is everywhere - especially the music. it’s one of those games that just stays with you. seeing you play it is such a full circle moment from my childhood, thank you! :D
This series has been helping me so much I've been stuck in hospital away from my daughters and fiance and these videos have helped keep me distracted when they aren't by my side. Thankyou so much and please keep the amazing content going.
Hope you get well soon
wow man thats... crazy i hope you have someone to talk to wish you the best :)
Can we talk about how scary is the pyramid head just standing there? Makes you expect an encounter while rounding every corner and opening every door.
BRO DIDNT EVEN SEE IT 😭
And then when he circles back to the grate a bit later hes gone 😬
50:42 best advice I've ever gotten in my life is from a factory job. "If you wouldn't put your thing in it, don't put your hand in it."
Jack saving and being the inner monologue of James is like a drunk dude talkin to himself while takin a piss😂
It's been almost a decade since I started watching your content. I had a hard time fitting in at school, and coming home to a good gameplay with even better commentary always made me feel a little less lonely. Now I'm in college as an adult, experiencing an entirely new level of struggle, and your videos are still helping me. We might have never met, and we probably never will, but thanks for being there for me. Even if you didn't know it.
My first prop to them.
Modern Angela: "Lost?"
Original Angela: "Llllooooooosssssssst???"
😂😂😂
Hahaha I kinda wish new Angela would've said it like that, not gonna lie. 😂🙈
@@sevilaykoroglu1617 Yeah I get it lol. For some games like RE and SH, cheesy acting were actually great lol.
I was waiting for it lol
😧: “LLLAAWWWWST?!!!!”
sean non stop praising the environment and vibes of the fog is so real. ugh i love small woodsy towns like that in the middle of nowhere.
28:34 "come on jam, let's find your peanut butter" lmao i'm dyinggg
So happy that you are playing this! I super enjoy your long session videos so much, and I absolutely LOVE Silent Hill 2.
You have no idea how happy this notification made me. Thank You Seán
Wholesome ❤
1:16:32 i think is my MOST Favorite part of this video, i love how seán just did the thing James did and made it so much better 😭 that switch up tho
Jse: “if there was any indicitaion that i have adhd”
*dosnt finish sentence continues playing game*
Me: that sounds about right
… Could be a literal eclipsis
Honestly, after watching you for years and years, and no matter how much ive grown, i still find comfort in your videos, thanks for that.its always nice watching one of your videos, while eating, doing something or just laying in bed after work. ❤
The blurry artifact you see might be the result of "Temporal Anti Aliasing" (TAA) or any modern Anti Aliasing that is used by upscaler to achieve high fidelity visual but maintaining stable frame rate, but the side effect is trailing ghostly graphics on a moving geometry
as someone named Drew who references the road work vine at least daily the moment at 17:44 was the scariest part of this video for me
That ghosting you’re talking about around 9:00 is usually a combo of Temporal Anti-Aliasing and some upscaling tech like DLSS.
Could also be Chromatic Abberation, but in this instance i dont think it is.
wtf yall talking bout isn't it just clouds? ☁️
Thanks for the info!
i thought moreso it was a kind of bloom
Jack looking like Nicepool! Can't wait for this series!
I love how Jack appreciate how much work and little details in games, makes us designers & artists feels inspired and happy
I’ve heard the spooky tunnel association has a great union
Looks like I got something to watch on my lunch breaks, haven’t seen a Jack video in years but I’ve stayed subbed for ages. Feels like it’s 2016 all over again man.
54:55 Sean was right on the money here. Because his wife was sick, it left James sexually frustrated which is why a few of the monsters have erotic undertones (the leg monsters, the buxom faceless nurses, Pyramid Head dragging around a big phallic object that seems almost useless).
Yeap
James has great taste
Glad I'm not the only one who ran round the whole apartment complex lost until they found the wardrobe haha
I love that u still do ur intro, so many og TH-camrs stopped and I don’t know why. Ur a legend👌
I'm have been watching u for almost 8 years. u never get old. I'm glad u have made it this far. u have helped me in bad times. Thanks jack and I love u as a bro
16:09 same! i mean, i don't want to feel like something is coming to kill me, but i love the aesthetic of a place like this. the woods, the atmosphere, the fog, the gloominess and quiet. it feels so comfortable and fun to explore!
You talk a lot about how beautiful this game is but can we all just appreciate how amazing the sounds are too? Walking around, your footsteps are like ASMR, and the way that occasionally some surfaces might result in a creak. Or just all the different squelching noises. ORRR all the environmental music. 🤌 PERFECTION
22:11 i love how ominous and quiet everything is, like you expect something to jump at you and or feel like youre being watched/followed but like nothings really happening (for now)
