    ⭐Welcome to Megan MacCarthy
    Having taught over 9,000 public classes and private yoga therapy sessions at my studio in Wisconsin, I know chronic pain; as it presented in my students with cancer, fibromyalgia, MS, neuropathy, athletes with injuries, surgeries etc. And I know what it is like to fear, then enter, accept and heal chronic pain in my own body - yes, yoga teachers deal with chronic pain too (and we age!) especially when you are teaching 15 classes a week.
    There are 2 approaches that I take for myself and with students when working with pain. One is to enter the pain with loving kindness. With this method, I might use tools like positive affirmation or the breath to meet the space of discomfort, and invite the pain to speak and resolve. The other approach is the distraction method. Somatic Yoga is an exceptionally gentle and safe movement therapy to combine with the distraction method. Adding the technique of distraction can be the start to creating comfortable new movement patterns for the body and mind. It suggests that you focus on something other than the pain to create a healing relationship with your whole body.

    I'm going to start doing this.
    I have chronic pain & have done for many years. I also desperately need to lose weight but in order to do that, I need to not be in as much pain.

      thanks Jane. Sometimes less is more, and it takes the smallest movements to heal the deepest pain.
