    Regardless of the type of RV you have... motorhome, travel trailer or 5th wheel... getting level is a routine part of setting up camp. Besides comfort factors, like not sleeping at an angle or having water pool up at the far end of the shower, most RV refrigerators have to be kept close to level to operate properly.
    Finding the most level spot to set up camp, then getting level once you're parked on it, can be a guessing game. Not any more!

      RVwithTito looks like you need the rubber mats that go below your leveler to keep them from slipping.

    I just installed a LevelMatePro this week and did a TH-cam video on the whole setup. I was sold after watching your original video. All I can say to people watching that this is a great device and makes leveling your motorhome or trailer a snap. I would put it up as one of the most useful mods I have done. Thanks guys for highlighting this.

    The Truma app if you go to Tools section it has leveling. You put your measurements place your iPhone on a flat surface and it tells you how many inches off on each side and front to rear you are off level. It does this for both motor homes and trailers it even tells you sunlight direction so you can park knowing how much sun is going to hit your coach.

    For slippery situations I bought a stall mat from Tractor Supply made from recycled rubber. Cut them to fit under my blocks. They don't compress and grip really well. They're about 3/4" thick. Works well in these situations!

    I always keep my motorhome leaning to the front a bit because I believe its better for digestion while sleeping. I think we evolved this way as our primate cousins sleep in trees with their body slightly upright. It also prevents nightime acid indigestion, keeping the acids in the stomach where they belong.
    Needless to say I sleep with my feet pointing to the front of the RV.

    For those may be lucky enough to have an iPad and an iPhone or two iPads in the family then try "Stay Level ". app. iPads have very accurate sensors in them, that's why they are used by carpenters, and also for aligning pool tables. You put one inside the motorhome or trailer, you keep one in the Motor Home home cab with you. The two iPads are linked via WiFi with each other, one becomes sensor and one becomes the display screen, both iPads show Level indicators, when everything is level bingo you screen goes green. It works for Android as well.
    Remember your iPhone or IPad is a very sensitive, compass and gyroscope built in.the app is about $2 no annual fees etc.

    To stop those plastic leveling blocks from slipping, get a 4' x 6' x 3/4" "stall mat" at Tractor Supply $45. Cut with circ saw into 4 - 1' x 4' strips. Place at each tire, placing plastic blocks on top. Will not slip, even on rain-slick smooth concrete!
    Note: They're heavy... each strip weighs about 15 pounds, so balance your need for "anti-slip" against a weight penalty.

    I think this will work great on our Lance truck camper as leveling on or off truck is sometimes a challenge. It will also work great for our next coach which is most likely going to be a 31 foot dual axle Airstream travel trailer. Thanks for all of your hard work!

      It will indeed, David! The LevelMatePRO was originally designed for towables, and includes a cool feature for recalling hitch height for easy re-connecting when it's time to break camp and hook back up to the tow vehicle. We're planning to shoot a video demonstrating that in the next few monmths.

    12 Oz. can, rotate 90° twice "good enough "!
    4 to 6 ' level to be perfectly level!
    A measuring device and two out of three mathematical formula will get you stable, level and give you experience forever; with out batteries!
    Our , TT and 5th wheel although will become perfectly level in less and less time each site: we are now using frame and axel stands. Preserves the frame, suspention, axes and protects from moderate weather and erosion.
    It's not that the units will ; roll down a mountainside or be carried away to the land of OZ but adjusting in the mud during a rain storm while live electricity is near a minimalist grounded structure is now part of our adventure.
    The advantage is also my ability/necessary to remove/adjust my hearing devices to ignore laughing and "ADVISE" as I drive our ground rods and adjust our lightning conductors and the other "funny" methods we use. I do return to them to hear the cries, moans and despair ate questions about the damages to both physical structures, tanks, electrical and apologies.
    They can even drink the contents of that "can" if they didn't start at a double digits angle to begin with.
    one can never have/attach enough auxiliary levels placed at all reasonable locations : once your consistent perfect leveling is successful.
    The most impressive lesson and memory was with our first TT that had a : L.P. & ELECTRIC REFRIGERATOR , THAT REQUIRED LEVELING MORE THAN ANY OTHER SURFACE!
    DON'T REPLACE ONE TO BELIEVE ME: ASK HUNDREDS WHO HAVE AND AT THE PROFITABLE PRICES THEY PAID? THE FURTHER AWAY FROM HOME YOU ARE THE HIGHER THE PROFIT MARGIN GOES UP.
    We were not "as rich as many" so the old cooler and gas station/story ice got us to a provider with a reasonable cost, profit and further education with that and the fantasies of RV batteries!
    Even our solor panels are adjustable to enjoy the most sunshine! ☺
    Yes we're not so old that we don't have cell phones but: we keep the "old" ones for security, direct return path to our campsite and we hope some day we will never direct the fire dept., first responders to our coaches or warn if a L.P. leak or fire detection is warning us from too far away to take action before them. Helpful for neighbors who have real emergencys.
    Not to mention tracking a stolen vehicle/coach.
    The dollars or cents are never as important nor valuable as time and loved ones!
    Vio con dias & share with others!

    Although this was a video for the LevelMatePro system it just answered some questions I had about how to level my Class C RV on the rear dual wheels. I was at a campground recently where I would have liked to raise the back end a smidge but wasn't sure if I could use the ramps I use on the front in the same way. Apparently I can just double up on my double wheels! LOL

    Can you guys PLEASE do a video about diesel motorhomes that goes BEYOND just the basics please?
    I've never really dealt with diesels before, yet most people say they're better all around for performance, durability, etc...
    I'd like to know what I'm getting into if I decide to go diesel. Maintenance costs, ease of maintenance, availability of maintenance?
    How is it different than gas RVs on a day to day or year to year basis?
    The benefits to diesel are obvious but what are the negative aspects you have to deal with or dread doing? Thank you

    • @RVgeeks
      @RVgeeks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mario! We'll keep it in mind to see if we can gather enough info to do a video specifically on diesels, but a great place to start might be a comparison by our friends Nikki and Jason Wynn, who came to the same conclusion we did... that diesels, while more expensive, are better than gas rig in most regards: more powerful, more comfortable, more stable, quieter, better fuel economy, better longevity... but potentially more expensive to maintain. Personally, we could never imagine full-timing in a gas rig. That said, smaller rigs, like Class Cs might be okay in gas, since they're smaller and lighter and don't need as much power. But then we'd never full-time in a Class C. ;-)

    I just came across this video and it posed a curious question; I have a 32 ft holiday rambler and would like to adjust the (SINGLE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM) ; I am unsure how to level the rv "JACK,S LEVELERS,ETC; MY FEELING IS USING THE HYDRAULIC JACK,S OR THE GROUND LEVELERS ; WOULD CAUSE AN INACCURATE ADJUSTMENT DUE TO RAISING THE RV BASICALLY OFF THE GROUND??? ANY SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED,thanks,PATRICK

    • @RVgeeks
      @RVgeeks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick. If you're looking to get your RV level so that you can adjust your headlights, don't use the jacks/levelers at all. Doing so could put the RV into a position that wouldn't accurately reflect the standard driving position... and could lead you to be blinding oncoming drivers. Typically, when aligning headlights, you'd want the RV to be in normal driving mode (airbags inflated if it's a diesel RV) and parked on a (reasonably) level surface. That would best reproduce the position it would be in when driving down the road and would result in the best alignment. Hope this helps.

    How is this different than the Truma App where I don't have to install anything or get it level to install anything.

    • @RVgeeks
      @RVgeeks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd never heard of Truma until now. I Googled it to find that it's a device that checks the level in a propane tank. Completely different purpose that has nothing to do with actually leveling the RV itself. The LevelMatePRO gets the entire RV level to within 0.25" and even allows you to find the most level campsite before parking. We love it! :)

    • @RVgeeks
      @RVgeeks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the link. I see they've added a feature to show when the RV is horizontal. I'm guessing that without the installation of a separate sensor, they must be using the level in the phone? If so, that is indeed a viable way to get the rig level. What the LevelMate does beyond anything else we've seen, that is really useful, is tell you exactly how much to lift each wheel, to within 1/4", prior to starting the leveling process. That's really helpful for RVs without leveling jacks, since it allows you to simply place the correct thickness of stacker blocks in front of each tire, and drive right up, one shot, with no trial and error, to the exact height required for each corner.

    • @hbbhoppers
      @hbbhoppers 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      RVgeeks I am all about gadgets and absolutely love your TH-cam videos since I am new to Rving. The Truma App that the salesperson suggested does tell me how many inches off on each wheel so I know how many blocks to use for each tire. I guess the big difference is I have to place my iPhone or iPad on the floor. Since I too love to test out gadgets I might just try this out to see which is easier. Thank you for you input as leveling without jacks is difficult especially since the manufacturer of my motor home put the shower drain where if it's not level it's not draining!

    Ahhhh the slippery surface! Where is that small bucket or plastic bottle of sand?
    One thing I learned after 32 years on the road was having a bag of sand as part of my equipment list. Your best friend when winter hits but also on oil slick pavement and looks like when setting up on a not so level street in the rain! Now I'll have to change from a bag of sand to an empty water bottle or small paint bucket filled with sand, not kitty litter in Minnie.
    If you love your partner never use litter on snow or ice if stuck. It gets wet, turns into slippery clay which defeats the purpose and clay loves to stick to footwear and clothing and gets tracked into the RV to make a mess! Sand will stomp off outside and is not as hard to sweep up. Unless you like scrubbing clay out of carpets and getting your arse chewed off by the better half!

      RVgeeks I've got 32 years of travel tips in the book! I tear them out when I think someone would like them or need them ;)
      That kitty liter tip is from living through getting my six handed back by the ex not to mention having to clean it off of that rubber ribbed flooring found in trucks! It is A ROYAL PITA to clean that clay up! Sand is your bestest friend in snow and ice!
      If I get carried away let me know LOL!
      Watch for me soon. I'm coming out of retirement for a little while back into trucking as retirement isn't paying enough to retire on! Solar and other needed items SS doesn't pay for! Especially toys!

    Could someone please tell me the specific name of the drive on levelers that they are using in this video? I always have a heck of a time leveling - my son is a senior in high school and I imagine he isn't going to be camping with his mother come this spring - I am trying to make purchases to help me be able to do it by myself. Any help will be appreciated!

      Hi Susan. The levelers that Brian was using when we shot this video are from Camco and you can get them here: amzn.to/2DGaJZ1
      But if you want another option (more expensive, but worth it), check out the Anderson Levelers: amzn.to/2Em2lPG
      BTW... if you ever see anything we use/show in any of our videos, you can always look in the video description... we try to be good about posting links there.

    Why would you want to buy something that needs to go though all this? Still looks like more hassle than it's worth. Hello to the other "honey bee!" Next time your husband gives you any flack, remind him to pronounce your name backwards.. lol A Melissa can be a safe asylum to harbor you, or put you in one. lol

      RVs without hydraulic jacks need to be leveled manually. This device makes that task quick and easy. No hassle at all.

      @@RVgeeks That wasn't my question. Why buy an RV that needs to be leveled. Why not something more simple.

      Got it! ALL RVs need to be at least close to level. Unless you want to live on a slope! It’s just part of RVing, but no big deal to get level.

      @@RVgeeks Okay, got it. Skip buying an RV. Instead go with my first plan and buy a box van and convert it. Got it. Less hassle. And I won't give a damn if it's on a slight slope. More I learn about RVs the more a box van sounds attractive. lol
