Wonderful Russian Railway Museum! Thanks for sharing! Hey, if you're ever back in the Chicago area, you may want to visit the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL. It has a lot of operational streetcars (trams), trolley buses and trains you can ride on pulled by vintage locomotives (steam, diesel and electric), . In fact the museum even has a large electric locomotive that was built by General Electric in 1946 for the Soviet Union called the "Little Joe," named after Joseph Stalin.

A little bit about the railway gun:
The Obukhovskii 12"/52 Pattern 1907 gun was a 12-inch (305 mm), 52-caliber naval gun. It was the most powerful gun to be mounted aboard battleships of the Imperial Russian Navy and later the Soviet Navy during both world wars. It was later modified by the Soviets and employed as coastal artillery and as a railway gun during World War II....
Three railway guns were built, using guns from the sunken battleship Imperatritsa Mariya, which had been lost to a magazine explosion in Sevastopol harbor in October 1916. They were used in the Soviet-Finnish war in 1939-1940. In June-December 1941 they took part in the defense of the Soviet naval base on Finland's Hanko peninsula (Rus. Gangut/ Гангут). They were disabled by Soviet seamen when the base was evacuated, and were later restored by Finnish specialists using guns from the withdrawn Russian battleship Imperator Aleksandr III. After the war these were handed over to the Soviet Union, which were maintained in operational condition until 1991. Withdrawn from service in 1999, they were the last Obukhov pieces still operational in the world.

Great video, it reminded me of the National Railway Museum in York, England. I remember seeing some of the locomotives in the video when everything was outside, and during our visit it was freezing. I'll sure be visiting when I can. For any train fans visiting Russia, there are other rail museums in Samara and Novosibirsk.

Steam locomotives have a fire tube boiler the exhaust from the fire goes to those tubes and they cut through the boiler plate is what it's called also where the fire goes is called a firebox and on the front of the engine or the smokestack is is called a Smoke Box and it creates a vacuum when the engine throws the exhaust up through the stack it pulls the fire through the fire tubes like a bellows So the faster the engine goes the more air that it sucks through the fire tubes

This video brought back memories of my train trip to Moscow from St. Petersburg in the winter of 1995-96. My new wife and I arrived at the train station shortly before midnight to take the overnight express train [ I believe it was train Number 10] that would arrive in Moscow around seven in the morning. Right next to our train was the famous Red Arrow Train Number One. I regret not having had the opportunity to ride on that magnificent train. The compartments looked very cozy and romantic with only two seats per room!
