... where does one begin...her vocal range is EXTRA-ORDINARY...Who writes at this depth of light and shade? Bloody rare! The percussionist is beautifully subtle, never distracts. Even using the alternate tone of her guitar body. Fine work... Beyond fine... breathtaking this beautiful, sentient being and her gifts... Thank you k8fan... again and again ...music has been my passion as a drummer, singer and West End performer for decades...Happy is beyond brilliant, beyond phenomenal...why has she not gone global??? I don't get it...I know life can be unfair, indeed cruel....but WHY?
She's a Rhodes scholar as well! Unparalleled in greatness and under appreciation, like Happy says, "...a beacon in the sky, meant to catch your eye..."- "...the darkness (of ignorance) that must abound the light, stay a light, stay alive...", Bob Marley. reality Good day.
For me, yes, it was the first time I even heard of her. I was listening to Natalie Merchant's Space Oddity, then saw Happy's version in "Related Videos". One thing led to another, and I came upon "Ra is a Busy God". Must have played it 10 times in a row...I *really* like the idea of the house concert series. If it is reinstated and you need a venue in Napa, CA, let me know!!
I saw a Happy Rhodes concert thing on TV many moons ago (late '90s) and thought it was great. I bought her Worlds CD and loved it but I lost the darn thing and time zipped by. She popped into my head the other day and I thought, Hey UTube, and low and behold here she's doing a house concert!!! What a mind numbing talent.
As far as I know, she's not stopped making music, she's just on a sort of hiatus. Bob and Happy built a studio as part of their home, but they have been involved in the renovation as well as running Bob's studio sound equipment company. I believe she was disappointed by the response to the House Concert Tour, but I've told her that the tools available now (MySpace, TH-cam) could produce much larger audiences if she toured again. We'll see.
She's so talented! One of my dreams would be to see her singing live...but thanks to these video I can dream I'm in the audience...so thank you, this is so precious! (And I totally love the lyrics on the video, so I don't have to open another page, it's great!!!)
@TheAgentOfTruth Vickie here (not k8fan, who's my husband). Even a year later, this is one of my all-time favorite Comments. I love reading all the comments on Happy's music, but this just gives me chills. Thank you.
Ah, that was the Prism thing you saw, where she played the Middle East club. I might be able to get some cuts from that up on TH-cam at some point. Btw, that was me (Vickie) who posted about loving nice comments. I was accidentally still logged in to k8fan's account (he's my husband). I'm glad you rediscovered her!
3:22 to 4:04 is a secret magical realm. wherein you will smile laugh dance or cry. or simply stare in amazement. since mere adjectives will not be able to properly describe what you feel. (just remember to breathe). though whatever you do it will be done with a feeling of true love. for some of you it may be the first time you have ever this way. it's o.k. everything is just fine. how about another listen?
@marckarlock Glad to make them available. Hopefully she'll tour again. The last time she did was before TH-cam was rolling and she has acquired a lot of fans. The lyrics are not that difficult to do and make the video available for listeners in dozens of languages as well.
I always love reading nice comments about Happy, and this is one of my favorites. :) What the F&%K !!! indeed! Off the scale indeed! Love it! Is this the first time you've heard Happy? How did you come to view this? Wingnut948's comment is pretty great too.
What can you say. I had a video of Stephen Stills playing in my house until I accidentally broke the TiVo/DVR and it was professionally shot. This isn't a video; it's a documentary.
I think it was an accident. I didn't do it, but I've done it before elsewhere, and it's a horrible feeling, you meant to reply and accidentally hit spam. Being obsessed with Happy is a good thing (well, that's what I tell myself :), she needs fans who will spread the word. And hey, she may make more music. She's gotta do *something* with the home studio she's building. And anyway, she has 11 amazing albums, timeless albums, that will be just as good 100 years from now. Never forget her, world.
Have you seen her website? Is it really Auntie Social etc.? Boy, it's as bad as she's good. And I thought I did crappy websites. Not that that really matters; it actually kind of fits her. I really liked that Prism concert, if that's what it was, and it would be great to get a hold of it.
shes stunning

Magic. I am so lucky to stumble upon this treasure.
this woman is a world class singer / creative artist.

Can't stop listen to this song. Thanks for make me HAPPY!!!
I am speechless...or, as it were, textless...beautiful, perfect, ethereal.
My favorite song of hers.
I believe so. The percussionist is Bob Muller, Happy's husband.
She is an incredible artist and this song is so beautiful. Merci for these emotions.
amazing!!! i love her and this song

Definitely a very underrated musician. Fans of Kate Bush/Annie Lennox would love her. :)
Her art is not from “here” and that is why it is pure art.

I have no idea who marked that comment as spam.
