I’ve been following this project for several years now and am beyond excited to finally wishlist, buy, and play your game. And yes, I will be buying thank you very much. Congratulations on making it this far 🎉🎉!
This is one of the few channels that I don't really understand why it hasn't taken off. Maybe it's just not frequent enough uploads? You have a great charm to your admittedly mild manner, you have a fun point and click game, you've got interesting things to say. Come _on._
Every time I see your game on my wishlist I smile and I get a tinge of excitement. Also I wanted to say I think it’s very impressive what you’ve accomplished. Your game looks very nice, the art design is beautiful and I really can’t wait to play it. You’ve come a long way
If you need help with the music I would be more than happy to help! Love your vids and I will definitely buy the game when it comes out! I remember the early game dev videos, it looks totally different now!
Actually *uploading* to Steam is honestly an even worse experience than setting up the store page/doing the onboarding. Just utterly confusing and documented even worse by Steam, also some important stuff (depot settings fe) are honestly straight up hidden.
I once contacted Valve technical support for technical support, they said they don't offer technical support. So I went to the community hub for help and they rudely scoffed 'why did you go to technical support for technical support'? That's when I realised how poorly the company operates and how their supporters are have been brainwashed into liking them like a cult.
I've put a game and two demos on steam, always forget how to do it in between, and am always amazed that I managed to work it out! Once it's done it does work well enough, but they do not make it easy.
as a self employed, ltd company owner in the UK I can confirm. nightmare, and don't get me started on self assessment tax returns. if you can, get someone to do it for you.
I think it's more important to sell on multiple platforms than just Steam. Steam will be where most of the sells will be, but you can still get (at least 30%, I think, it was a while since I saw the GDC talk) income from itch, GOG, Epic, and Humble Bundle.
In the Steam Store in the MORE LIKE THIS section I can see that you need to work on your tags to show up with the adventure game audience. Now its showing partially related games.
the wishlist system just screws over devs. It should be based on engagement. Im not sure about others but I use my wishlist to know when a game goes on sale not when its released.
Thing with 'Wishlist' is pretty deceiving. It doesnt actually mean people will rush to buy your game on release day, or in a year either, it is just a proof of 'slight interest', most of the people uses 'wishlist' and 'follow' to catch games they are interested on heavy discount. Almost every title on Steam get %40+ discount after 6 months of release date. Unless yours is not a hyped up game like Hades, Stardew Valley, Terraria, Return to Monkey Island etc. conversion rate to sales of wishlisters is going to be about 3-5/100, just saying this so you wont be disheartened on the release day like many developers, in time sales will fly, youll get offers from bundles and other platforms. Cheers, ill personally purchase your game on day one.
If more wishlists get him better exposure on Steam, then there's absolutely no reason not to encourage as many wishlists as possible. It's not like he has shareholders breathing down his neck asking about the wishlist/sales conversion ratio.
will absolutely wishlist it tonight - and I recommend a weekly post on r/adventuregames - I see you posted in there 2 months ago, but seriously, once a week - there's potentially 20,000 eyeballs on it. But marketing is really boring, I feel your pain. Any word on auditions for voice acting? Will it be advertised via your Discord?
I put my point and click game on steam a few years ago. It made the money back (just about) but the reviews and comments were brutal. You’ve gotta be thick skinned (which I’m not) Edit: for some reason TH-cam isn’t allowing me to respond to the replies but my game is called Bayou Island. Please don’t tell me the current rating though 🙏 I haven’t looked at my store page in 4 years as I was finding it kinda… upsetting
@@perttu3387 thanks it’s called Bayou Island. I got very upset seeing the reviews so I haven’t gone to my store page in 4 years so please don’t tell me the score 🙏
I think steam makes the developer backend stuff intentionally complicated to filter out people who aren't willing to invest a lot of time into making a nice page (in hopes of filtering out low quality steam pages). Not to say I'm endorsing that but I know similar tactics have been used by other businesses and organisations in the past.
Wishlisted. You're a cool guy. For sure. Do you know the "crimson diamond" project? A ega game. Also made by a one "man" army. Why don't all of you get together and share, make a convention or podcast about ALL the stuff in being a solo developer. Especially the financial side and "real life" side of this whole affair. As it is the most complicated part of the deal. Right? If you want a german translator. Let me know. I am also fluent in(american) english but lived in the uk for a few years so I would likely get "the gist". Or use ai if you want.
Are there any plans to put this on GOG? I know Phantom Fellows, another upcoming indie point and click I'm waiting for, is on both. I'd love to support the game and DRM free software at the same time. Also, wishlisted!
I thought "Steam" would win but I'm surprised how close behind "Wishlist" actually was. Say it a few more times and maybe your daily wishlists will go up?
If you haven't started voice actors as of yet I'd be interested in lending a voice to it , no credit or payment required , I have all the audio equipment to do it and audition . High quality mic too .
Wishlisted, System requirememnts arent accurate? its a point n click adventure game, would i be able to run it on my 486dx2?! Full throttle runs great!
I'm toying with an idea of an adventure game with ChatGPT-generated backgrounds, -assisted story and 3d characters based on ChatGPT concepts. So far spent a month and I'm nowhere. Is it actually worth it anyway?
@@pcd I have released a game in 2015 which I spent 5 years making (it's called Among the Heavens), now I believe the market is overcrowded due to how easy it is to make games these days, so really afraid to invest the time it would require to make everything by hand. Yet I have developed the game engine myself.

@@Mom_Im_On_TV I think his videos still have tons of charm. He put a lot of effort into making this video fun. He put a lot of effort in. It probably took him 20 hours to edit this, if not more.
Please consider giving my game a little wishlist... store.steampowered.com/app/2967630/The_Biggleboss_Incident/
