- Have you ever wondered how it feels to be a prey animal? Despite the low res style Rain World is one of the most intense single player games I've ever experienced and, despite playing for several hours, still barely understand.

I’m a pretty experienced Rain World player, having played the game for almost 100 hours with no sign of stopping, and I found it hilarious how many inaccuracies there were. I do not mean this in a “Oh, how stupid you are for not knowing everything about the game,” but rather a “The fact that this game’s lore and mechanics are so deep that you probably won’t know the start of it without watching half your hours worth of TH-cam content is crazy,” way. This game is just incredible(y difficult!).
haha! I got 200hrs and I'm still pretty sure I've missed plenty of things(even though watching hours and hours of content after finishing the game)
such a masterpiece, really one of a kind and my favorite game for its outer world experience.
@@MigWith The impossible task of knowing everything about Rain World is similar to that same task in life: no one can know everything. The truth is that no one person can even know everything about a more specific topic, such as lore, game mechanics, the AI, movement tech, and so on.
Agreed that it’s incredible, and only those who stopped after an hour (and can’t be blamed for it without knowing the wonders that the game holds) would say otherwise.
As a no-lifer with 1.5k hours, I'll leave you with a quote from the game, "Despite all, this site still has not revealed the entirety of its secrets."

To unlock gourmand and artificer you can just beat either survivor or monk, and to unlock rivulet and spearmaster you just need to beat either gourmand or artificer. No hunter needed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fun fact 1: killing Looks-To-The-Moon is the worst crime you could commit in this game.
Fun fact 2: completing all the DLC campaigns (especially rivulet and saint) will give you existential crysis if you at least slightly know the lore. And knowing the lore more than slightly will straight out make you question your life.
So yeah, you definitely should give it a try. Good luck, have fun, and don't touch the rot.
riv's ending made me cry, i expect saint will do the same once i get around to it
@@jazzerdazzle5958 saint's ending is... difficult. From a certain lerspective it's a happy end, from another it isn't. If riv's ending made you cry (which it almost did to me), then saint's ending will made you think a lot. Definitely recommend completing his campaign.
3. The whole game can be summarized by "The conflict between Buddhism and natural selection"
The scavengers come after the collapse of civilization. All the humans (ancients) jumped into the void to ascend into enlightenment.
Fun fact: The robots around the LTTM are her neurons, you ate her brain.
I believe the guardians did not let you pass because animals have karma as well and your worm did not have 10 karma.
Funny fact, the guards kill any creature with a lack of karma. and the grappling hook is also alive. And they could have tried to kill you just because you were holding it in your hands.
Describing the Rot as "God's mistake" is very funny to hear from a Rain World outsider, considering that statement only gets more correct the more you play.
While others have mentioned the thing about the hunter not being the requirement for the other slugcats, I haven't seen it mentioned that the reason for Downpour's options in the remix menu is that it was all previously mods! The devs hired some of the popular modders to make an official dlc.
Otherwise, its always cool to see people's first routes in this game are.

Beating hunter is purely optional.
Also, that robot you mercilessly murdered is my girl moon and one getting the mark of communication from pebbles you can actually speak to her (provided you didn't eat all of the braincells prior)

I feel this kind of review of the game really skips over some of the environmental storytelling and moods set through the playthrough of the game, but it was still a humorous watch. I am glad you gave the game a try, happy to have you join the ranks
I like how you liked five pebbles more than looks to the moon when everything terrible about the world is pretty much all his fault including the fact that moon is dying, when moon is the one who tried to stop him and is also just the sweetest person ever.

6:14 Wanna hear the funny part? Monk actually has *less breath capacity* than Survivor hence will drown faster :D
(Monk is also worse at throwing spears (less damage and range), is lighter and therefore more easily killed by worm grass and spider swarms, and they have a worse version of Unfortunate Development.)

Downpour is listed as a mod called More Slugcats Expansion because it *is* a mod called More Slugcats Expansion. It got its start as just a high-quality mod being developed by fans, but at some point they got in contact with Videocult and it became an official DLC.
It's still mostly fanmade, too. Just officially endorsed, sold, and lore-approved by the original devs.
This is cool and all, but you should try saint, saint is one of the playable slugcats in the hit game by videocult Falling Water Location, Saint is green, Saint is fluffy, Saint can mlem, Saint can go fast, Saint is love, Saint is life, Saint is pain, Saint is death, Saint is happiness, Saint is sorrow, Saint is peace and Saint is violence, Saint is the best slugcat.

Fun fact: killing scavengers ruins your reputation, then they eventually seek you out to kill you, so stay peaceful with them and they’ll stay peaceful with you aswell

the drowning part has some plants that increase your breathing but you really need to be careful
300 hours in the game and i just need to do all possible expeditions and challenges to finish the game completely.
And it doesn't take 100 hours to find out that you jump and leap farther if you throw something like a rock or spear when you jump to give you a boost in distance

After 542 hours spent in this game and half my time invested in the community i agree, it is one of the most painful experiences you can have in gaming that most people should avoid.

You actually used the light source to get through shaded citadel? I just trial and error'd my way through it thinking that this is the god intended path and goddamn did I stick to it.
I also finished drainage systems and got to the end area without a light source and now I have memorised the layout of a large chunk of drainage systems and can navigate it effortlessly to my objective. I feel as if somehow what I did may have been inefficient but, on the plus side: Getting through drainage is much easier now
Drainage is bad place to go when you are new. It's much much easier and pleasant once you learn swimming mechanics. I actually like it now.
I expected to hate shaded citadel, but it has been one of my top favourite regions. As long as you get lights source early. My favourite thing about it is the atmosphere and lack of lizards.

When you jump in the water you lose breath that is probably why you drowned. I recommend turning on the breath meter in the remix menu😅😅😅
What really isn't noticeable is the game's reputation system because they attacked you man, you got a low reputation despite them being animals they are very competent and I'm not talking about grease and their mechanics 4:44

I actually didn't have a huge problem with 5 pebbles. I screwed myself a bit because I spent an hour trying to go through unfortunate development before I found out the end of it was blocked off but overall the low gravity didn't seem too bad to me
@@eleazrael what do you mean blocked off? the middle entrance is blocked off for monk but not the bottom entrance nor the exits at the top
@@MatthijsvanDuin When I went in at the top of the room where gravity keeps switching it was blocked off. looking at the map it would have been the middle of the area
@@eleazrael Ah, you got confused by going left when you were halfway through U.D. instead of continuing through the second half of it. Yeah that's not the exit, in fact it's kinda the main entrance to Unfortunate Development for Survivor since it feels like the obvious way to go, there's a shelter there, and it lets you skip the lower half of Unfortunate Development. ;-)
In fact its effectiveness at guiding new players to Unfortunate Development and keeping them there (by providing a shelter) is probably exactly why they closed it off to Monk. By removing the obvious way to go when you go through up from the first shelter it should make it very likely that the player will discover the way to the left side of Five Pebbles.
