Thank you so much for this. I've browsed thru the handbook several times in the last couple years, but couldn't make sense of it. I don't know how many videos you will need to make to get thru making a whole game, but I do hope you do finish this series and make a full game out of it (and that I do, too!).
Comments like these are what truly give me the drive to continue. It really warms my heart that I could help you this much :) I coudn't make many episodes lately as I have been rather busy lately, but I will most certainly do my absolute best to finish this series. Thank you so much for watching!
Returning to the series, i've seen Idle Game Maker before. I never understood it before because I could see how to make one. But when you came to youtube, I was excited to learn, but there were some challenges. Thanks for making the course!
a while ago i saw that there were no tutorials, so i made one. it blew up, so i made more. now they are private because they were cheesy. my advice to you is to make tutorials on things that no one else made tutorials on
Hello! First of all I want to say that I'm sorry for mentioning in this video that there were no other IGM tutorials on youtube, I did in fact notice yours shortly after this video was uploaded. I personally don't think your videos were cheesy at all - to be honest I thought it was commendable that you tried to help others with your tutorials, especially since no one else made them at the time. I must say, I didn't expect you out of all people to comment on one of my videos, so it's definitely a pleasant surprise :)
Unfortunately, you can only make games for desktop using the Idle Game Maker engine. Technically, you can still play IGM games on a mobile phone on a browser, but it will be very annoying to play.
I've been on an idle-game kick and have made my own little projects for fun (in-browser with javascript and in Unity with C#). Wanted to try out IGM but the handbook was confusing. Thank you so much for this!
I think that's covered in the Upgrades episode (not sure tho, can't check right now) but here's how you do it: add this effect to your upgrade: passive:increase yield of buttonThingKey by X
Any one willing to go 50/50 on an idea for a mobile game with high monetization potential? You would probably be doing a lot of work, but once this comes out there will be other people making better versions, might as well get a head start 😂

So it was good from the begining?
10:25 "author:" does work.
How do you make a mouse upgrade? Like, when you buy the upgrade. Your clicking gives more than 1.
I think that's covered in the Upgrades episode (not sure tho, can't check right now) but here's how you do it:
add this effect to your upgrade:
passive:increase yield of buttonThingKey by X

Been trying to do it on Fluttr, but I’ve never coded before, and keep running out of gpt 4.0 and Claude
Otherwise I’ll be using this playlist to flush out logic + game states for 2 months 😭

This tutorial series is very useful. I was hoping to remake the Muffin IGM game I made when I was 11. Thank you!
Thank you very much! Hope you make your game the best you possibly can :)
