Thank you for mentioning Irwindale Raceway, I lived two miles from there and went whenever I had the chance. I was at the last event. We tore down the spectator fence and ran on the track. Great memories.
Thanks to the people who put event and movie together. It brought back alot of "Good" Memories. Would like to bring the old crew down next year. Need a new supply of T-Shirts
Les Mayhew is a freaking legend!! Thank you so so much Les for everything do for the sport! Your like the Kenny Youngblood of the Camcorder🙏🏻 I was extremely impressed with your mechanical knowledge of all the different cars in the sport. I’m so thankful to have met you helping Rupert out in Vegas. My only wish is that I figured out it was you before Sunday afternoon.
My friend, Ted Hoover, used to race CIFCA cars in CA and AZ in the 90's. He died nearly 20 years ago, but I think about him often. I worked for him for nearly a decade at Speed World Motorplex in Phoenix and it was an honor to know him and hear his 100's of teeth rattling stories about just how bad ass funny cars are.
What an event!! To the film crew who videoed this event Thank You! You all knocked it outta the park with all the different camera views and everything. One of the best events I have seen online. This event is definitely a top 10 bucket list item for me to go to.
I can’t explain how thankful I am that Les Mayhew filmed & put this together! One of the greatest drag racing films of all-time!!! (Along with your March Meet movies). Wish the “outlaw” fuel altereds didn’t race on an index but they’re still awesome to watch.
ADRENALINE SOAKED!!!I happened to fall onto this while going through videos. I was a crew person with an alcohol/altered for about 5 years. A car called The Fun capsule owned and operated by Robert Sr and Robert Jr Laing. I am currently one third of the way through this movie and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, what a great film with expert editing. If you like drag racing it is a must see that probably won't ever be duplicated. Fully recommend. Thanks
No, the pistons aren't really that big. The engines are limited to 500 cubic inches. Cadillac made 500 inch engines for passenger cars back in the 70s.
@@MustangGuru No. Not at all.. It's the other way around, the stroke is larger than the bore. A Top Fuel 500" Nitro Hemi has a typical bore of 4.1875", and a stroke of 4.5". The Top Fuel Nitro pistons are only fractions of an inch larger than the ones in a stock small block Chevy.. Or even a 4.3 liter V-6. Now a 500" gasoline Pro-Stock motor, that's a different story. The typical bore is 4.750", and the stroke is around 3.520". Still not anywhere near the size of paint cans. The bore spacing in the block ensures that the pistons can't get much bigger than 4.7", even in an aftermarket 5" bore spacing block.

Many thanks for all of the effort to put this together. From the actual race, and especially the amazing footage. I've always been a Worsham fan.
