Yes!! I'd definitely want to see you do more of these lists especially about comics from image, dark horse, and the lesser known boom studio and black mask.
You are more than welcome.
Love the new video-in-video format.
Yay, thank you!
Love these hidden gem lists. You've persuaded me to pick up Lake of fire it looks amazing.
Hope you enjoy it!
I really like the way you did this video of showing off the books but also having a video in the corner showing you talking about them. To me seeing you in the corner talking about the book makes it seem like we're sitting down and you're telling me about it. I think it would be a cool idea if you were to do future reviews and flip throughs like this.
This is the way I do like doing it too. Its more work, but I think the payoff is better.
Lake of Fire sounds right up my ally, I'll have to try that. Thanks for the info Omar
Lake of Fire is 10/10 one of my favorite comics ever.
Also, throwing a recommendation out there for Manifest Destiny, which doesn’t get talked about ever, but has been going for such a long time. It has 7 TPBs.
It's so good!
YES! Bought Lake of Fire and Bitter Root because of you! I love them. Now to get the other three. Thank you!
Yes loved it, more lists like this please. Always looking for recommendations.
You got it!
I am loving these Image videos!!
100% want you to keep making lists like this. These are always great.
Thanks, will do!
Yes please continue this format! Lovin it ✌😎
Will do!
Some great stuff! Would love to see a top 10 video for Fantagraphics books.
If your public library has Hoopla , they have all the books that were mentioned so you can check them out digitally for free to see which ones are worth buying in paperback format. Thanks Omar, for giving me a few months worth of reading.
Great suggestion.
You know I LOVE hidden gem lists like this. Also Jorge Corona might just have the most currently unfortunate last name! 😂😈
Corona means crown in Spanish so up until now he must have felt like royalty 😂✌🏼.
Great video! Got to check out some of these! You should do hidden gems videos with all of the comics companies, including the big two. 👍🏻
That's a good idea!
Hey O, very cool that you are getting superstar guests! Have you done a video with all your favorite anthropomorphic characters? I'll also suggest you do a high fantasy type series video. Fantasy is my favorite genre book wise(Hobb/Salvatore/Rothfuss/Tolkein) so finding great fantasy comic series would be great! Gracias loco! And I'll give Lake of Fire and Mice Templar looks, seem up my alley.
Not yet, I haven't. Mi hermano. I think most people might be able to tell who is on that list. :)
He just say Erik Larson?! So hyped..one of my favs!
I am SO THERE!
Thor is the god of thunder but Omar is the God of comics. I didn't even know that some of these titles existed. But thanks to Omar I will be checking them out.
My man!
Yes please do more "off brand" reviews!!!!
Wow Omar I have only read two in this list-Bitter root and Middlewest .Bitter root I am not so invested but Middlewest man so awesome. And for recommendations try these:Alex+Ada, Criminal,Birthright, Bulletproof coffin (must read Omar, you will thank me later),Chew,(,was it in the other list?),phonogram, infidel, die, descender
Yes please. My wallet may not be a fan but I am because i don't know much and these type of lists help so I can see the artwork. Speaking of little mice with swords, it's this channel that turned me on to mac Smith and scurry.
Love Scurry and I can't wait for book three.
@@NearMintCondition right there with you. you get the slipcase for it? or the upgraded slipcase to put all 3 books into it?
Short lists = good. Hidden gems also good. Maybe do a Rebellion one, to bring some of their stuff to your audience.
Yes! I would love to see you do one of these for dark horse but thank you adding more to my ever growing list lol
Sure thing!
Yes please continue with these types of videos with dark horse etc. I learn of so many new books to go and read
You got it!
Keep these videos coming, Omar! After your top IDW video I picked up Ragnarok and TMNT IDW Collection. As for favorite lesser known Image series, I love Fell by Warren Ellis and Ben Templesmith. Only ran 9 issues but it was Ellis telling weird mysteries with wonderful art from Templesmith, what more could you want?!
Thank you and I will. I happen to love Fell too.
Loving these hidden gems videos! Nice work Omar!!
Glad you like them!
Matt fraction is hit and miss for me. I did like Fear Itself and Utopia. I take it you didn’t like his X-men? The idea of the X-men in San Francisco living in an dormant celestial was a neat idea lol
I liked his Iron Man and ideas in X-men were good. I just didn't like the voice for the characters.
Im the same way about Matt fraction . I would say one of his worst I really don't care for but I'm not saying it's bad would have to be sex criminals
Hello Omar. That is an awesome list my friend :)
Here are a few books from Image that I believe are quite awesome and I feel are hidden gems:
Sacred Creatures by Pablo Raimondi and Klaus Janson
The Fuse by Antony Johnston and Justin Greenwood
Glory by Joe Keatinge and Ross Campbell
Starve by Brian Wood and Danijel Zezelj
Prophet/Prophet War by Brandon Graham and Simon Roy
Copperhead by Jay Faerber and Scott Godlewski
Luther Strode Trilogy by Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore
Ravine by Ron Marz and Stjepan Sejic
(Still want that 3rd volume we were promised lol)
Happy Reading and Please stay safe everyone :)
-JC
Love your list and I need to check out Starve and Ravine.
Lake of Fire, Mice Templar, and Middle West are awesome reads! I need to check out those others. Awesome video as always ^_^.
They are!
Cool books all. There was an image title I enjoyed called Savior with art by Clayton Crain. Thanks for the show. Stay safe everyone!
I will check it out
Jorge Corona's art is great in Feathers, he wrote that too. Haven't seen it elsewhere.
Now for Image Hidden Gems: Snotgirl, Motor Crush, Pretty Deadly, Coyotes, Kaptara, Rose, Bully Wars, Blackbird, Assasin Nation and even though it has a Deluxe with 3 covers Monstress is not talked about enough.
I've read most of your Hidden Gems. :) But Kaptara and Bully Wars.
@@NearMintCondition Kaptara was awesome in a very Chip Zdarsky manner he made it 9.98 just so itd be the cheapest Image trade lol but there was only one paperback that didnt wrap up the story :/. Bully Wars is another written by Skottie Young but not drawn by him from last year! Feels like a classic Cartoon Network show.
Another great vid Omar. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Love your name, I say that every time I think.
Great show Omar. How about a top 10 European comics
Interesting list. I was lukewarm on Daytripper, but read a very short story "Coffin Man" in Hellboy that was beautifully illustrated by Fabio Moon; and the artwork you're showing from Casanova looks really good. Although Moon and Ba' are Brazilian you can see that quirky sensibility that looks like they grew up reading more European comics than the steady diet of superheroes most mainstream American artists grow up with. As for artists becoming writers: Always be leery of that. Certainly the very best comics are by cartoonists who do both--Eisner, Jaime Hernandez, Speigelman, Crumb--but typically they work outside of the mainstream. I could give two shits about Scottie Young (only familiar w/ him because I hear his name so often on TH-cam), but the benefit of being an artist is that he likely did thumbnail layouts for his script which might explain why you think the layouts of Jorge Corona match those of Young. Anyway, Casanova seems like the one I will check out.
Ask Erik Larsen about the big Jack Kirby Facebook Group he admins.
Oh he's a big Kirby fan.
@@NearMintCondition Yeah, I don't doubt that. But there are many artists who never looked at anything outside of whatever the dominant superhero titles were of their formative years. I'm pretty sure Moon and Ba' were reading Kirby, and also Moebius, and Munoz & Sampayo etc.
My fave “hidden gem” is Ragnarok by Simonson. One of the best current books I think.
Added two titles to my Amazon wish list and will pull the trigger it’s only a matter of “time” thanks again for locating these obscure Image gems Omar I would have never found them.
Thank you so much for watching!
Agree 100% that books that are in TPB format should not be overlooked just b/c there is not an OHC of it. I am definitely checking out Lake of Fire. Thanks for the video, and would love to see similar videos for Dark Horse, IDW, Boom, etc. Thanks!
Absolutely!!
Recently read Little Bird, it absolutely blew my mind! The artwork by Ian Bertram omg, and the story... seared into my memory (in a good way).
Loved that book.
As always, great video! Always love finding new books! I’d love to hear about some Dark horse hidden gems. There books always seem to have such a great bud quality to them.
Great suggestion!
Middle west and lake of fire I want to try those thank you, for sharing light on these.
Hope you enjoy them as they are great books.
Omar with hidden gems like a Sonic game
OMAR! ... Vol 1 of PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY PRETTY DEADLY.... There is no OHC yet, and when you see the art and the covers you will see what kind of a massive crime that is. It is easily one of the brightest gems available at the metaphorical Image jewelry shop. Maybe you can give it some love on your next one once you read it. I mean cmon, if you can't trust a guy using all caps at the beginning of his paragraph on the internet who can you trust?
I have those and have read volume one.
I dunno why TH-cam keeps eating my comments so I'll just say cool video Omar and hope it doesn't!
This one made it!
I highly recommend 'Witch Doctor' by Brandon Seifert and Lucas Ketner. Not sure if the series has been discontinued or what but there are 2 TPB's available and they're absolutely worth checking out!
I will check it out.
Green Valley is a great book that didn't get talked about. Hidden gem for sure.
I'll need to check it out.
Middlewest is getting a hardcover next year! Can't wait. I love collecting/reading the hardcover image books.
Oh yeah. Same
i was saving money on all the delayed new releases...this doesn't help me :P
Casanova and Mice Templar were both on my radar
Just got the casanova 3 hardcover vols at lcs sale for 9.99 a book today!
Great damn deal.
These hidden gem videos always boost my library; ordering up Lake of Fire for sure.
The three Casanova HCs should arrive any day now
I really hope you enjoy them.
@@NearMintCondition always brother, this is my favorite Channel
Picked up Rumble Vol 1 from a local comic store because they were selling it for $7
Gotta say just those 5 issues were so freakin cool, I haven’t yet read the other volumes but I can’t wait
About to pick up Bitter Root. That exactly the kind of book I've been searching for!!
Soo good.
I dug 'The Fix'. Don't hear much love for that series, but it's a great, funny crime comic.
Yeah, I will add that to the list next time as Amanda and I really liked that book.
@@NearMintCondition Amazing! I so wish they'd release it in hardcover.
I don't know what counts as hidden gems, but
Gideon Falls
Black Magick
Monstress
Rat Queens
Jupiter's Legacy / Circle
Mythic
Wytches
Severed
Reborn
I haven't read Mythic and Severed, but I do dig the rest. :)
@@NearMintCondition I'm sure you've got loads to read, but defo give Mythic and Severed a look over.
Oh man, Lake of Fire is so great. Definitely a hidden gem. More people need to know about that one. I'd also add Becky Cloonan's By Chance or Providence to this list. It's superb and no one seems to know about it.
Providence is excellent. Great suggestion.
Have you checked out "Coffin Bound" written by Dan Watters and beautiful art done by Dani?
I haven't, but I will.
Happy to see some love for Middlewest. It’s just so, SO good.
You are damn right it is!
Please can you do a wolverine reading order?
I think the next poll is going to be between Marvel Events and DC Events.
I may be watching too many of your videos, you got me buying middlewest & lake of fire when I had no intention of buying them! 😂
Well, I at least hope that you end up falling in love with them as much as I have.
Fantastic video, thank you! Will be checking out Lake of Fire. I appreciate that’s it’s one and done rather than something over several volumes.
Have you ever made your favorite one and done book list before? Would definitely be interested in seeing that! Could be a relevant topic especially if times are tight for people that can’t afford multiple volumes of a story. Just a though!
You are the third person to ask me if I've done a video on one and done books. I think I may do that. :)
there's so many people great things about Bitterroot I got to check that one out I really do
Lake of Fire is brilliant. Thanks a lot for the indication.
It really is and I'm glad you agree.
jorge corona drew a book from image called goners. that was a fun book as well as number 1 with a bullet and robins (DC). and matt smith has his own book calle d Barbarian Lord. thats a great read. 3 books and 1 hardcover graphic novel
I'll have to check it out.
Are you gonna do
a new room tour video eventually ?
Probably the fall.
Halfway thru lake of fire and i dig it.. thanks for the heads up.
You bet and i'm glad you are liking it.
HEAVY LIQUID. It's so underrated. I don't understand why it doesn't get any attention. It's an amazing book about drug addiction, romance and crime. Read it, it's worth it
The Paul Pope book? I read the single issues when they were coming out. Really dug it, so I can try to find out the TPB.
hate getting into an indie run and it goes bust.
I hate getting HCs of series they don't finish out too.
I love the art work of middle west I’m buying the lock & key set Gideon falls an the dark tower set this middle west is going to have to be my next book I get...Thank you for your videos man I wouldn’t know about all these great books if it wasn’t for your Channel took me 21 years to get into Reading in I feel so behind jsut glad I have a cheat sheet to find all the good stuff. Thanks man appreciate you an the channel
You are very welcome and I appreciate you :)
I have a hidden gem for you from Image. The Dynamo 5. That's what needs to be a Netflix series.
The Farber series? Yeah I liked that series. Had it in black and white.
Are we still waiting on a Casanova Acedia HC? I don't remember there being one... If there isn't one by now does this mean it likely won't happen?
I think so.
You have excellent taste in comics sir!
Thank you so much.
Cowabunga minties 🤙
Omar what’s your favorite Rick remender image comic?
Fear Agent always, but if I have to say things he wrote for Image. Tokyo Ghost.
💯
I'd like to see a list of image / indie titles that need dlx hc editions or that have great content for a tpb
The Magic Order is a great one as well that I never see anyone talk about.
I've not read that out.
Oh man a lot of people I feel like I'm sleeping on middlewest.
It's so good I was shocked when I first read series.
For me it kind of feels like a Twist on The Wizard of Oz. I mean I'm not saying it is that what's happening.
It's like especially the dad turning into a tornado I was not expecting that change.
Hey Omar, could you please ask your image contacts if theyll ever reprint Aphrodite ix the complete collection in hardcover again, Preferably in oversized format. I missed this book and it looked incredible.
I think that’s up to TopCow now. But I can.
Off topic. What do you think of 3 ongoing series
Old Guard. Reavers. Suicide Squad in fantasy world. Also the Realm. Looks like magic Walking Dead. Thanks
I will say about Mice Templar I haven't finished the series.
But it amazing I think one of the volumes I read I literally cried because of what happened in the story I can't remember which volumes was I have to read the last suit but it was definitely where the volumes were it's just I got emotional. I'm like why am I crying
My uncle sent me some comics, most of which are crimson, anything about the crimson comics interesting?? So far I'm just really into the art style
That’s the one by Humberto Ramos? I dug it!
@@NearMintCondition YES that's the 1 artist I recognised lol
Big fan of Casanova!!! Crazy comics!!!
Same here! love the art too.
middlewest is a must buy.. wow
It's amazing.
More list’s please!!!!!
If you like Jorge Corona's art you should check out Feathers which is s book he wrote and drew
I’m going to as many of my viewers have asked me to check it out. Thank you.
UNDYING LOVE!!!
ohh I need to read that one.
I'm actually with you there about Matt fraction Hawkeye. Really wasn't a fan.
Love his ironman, iron fist with Ed Brubaker ,X-Men was on and off for me.
And I've never really wrecked Casanova so I'll definitely try to check that one out
I'm with you, brother. I've no idea the praise he gets, but hey...to each their own.
@@NearMintCondition true
Mice Templar was good. Got that because of you. Ending was ok.overall a good read. Middleweight was decent.. Dark stuff. Went into the abuse trauma. Weak ending
Just read The Fade Out by Ed Brubaker and it was totally awesome!!
It is excellent.
Omar do a video of the best looking omnibus/absolutes on a shelf.
Oh, I like that. :)
@@NearMintCondition if I make some suggestions the absolute sand man uuuuuu baby those things slap along side preacher. Another banger are the sixth guns gunslinger edition or the hellboy in hell ones.
I hope you mention Skyward. (Writing this before I watch)
Edit: slightly disappointed, Skyward is awesome
He sold me on it last year when him and Amanda reviewed it. I'm sure if he keeps making lists that will be on there.
Really hoping that gets a HC. Not keen on SC. Got it on Comixology so far.
Next time!
Hi Omar I will be checking some of these book... I have bomb queen from image it's a bit over sexualized. its weird as concept but if you analyze the idea it hits you hard. I don't want to ruin it. :) great content I follow you from Malta 🇲🇹 if you can put a word forward with your sponsor shipment hurts my pocket costs more than omnibus...
Love the art from Bomb Queen.
I love more non superhero graphic novel more than superhero graphic novel.
I have a question when is Superman Batman omnibus is coming out thank you❤️❤️ Your videos thanks you
i don't have a lockdown date yet. As it keeps changing.
I really hope you do an old reader new reader on Mice Templar and lake of fire
Great idea, brother.
Please! Please! PLEEEEEEASE start listing the comics showed in these videos on the description, like... pleeeeease. Also if you want to make a better endorsement add the link of the comic on the cheapgraphicnovels website if/when they're selling it. It makes a lot easier for a possible buyer to become an actual buyer.
I take every suggestion to heart. So I will be doing this. on Smaller list like this.
@@NearMintCondition Aww so nice of you! Hope you guys break the 100k subscribers barrier soon. Also consider doing reviews of tv series/movies/cartoons related to comics/manga, I can't speak for other subscribers but I'd watch them all. After the pandemic is gone, it would be awesome to meet you guys at a convention or something. Hope you're all doing well. Take care and greetings from Brazil :D
Why don’t we have the old 90s Image superhero stuff collected in tpb, ohc or omnibus!? That’s what we really want!
I believe its up to the creator. I can ask Erik on Wednesday.
Near Mint Condition that would be great
Excelent videos, i like the man very much , i think that you have already reed it but i recomend to you Solo the story of a warrior mouse
Great suggestion and I need to find a proper HC for it.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lake of fire is good
Matt Smith ( this what was the reason why I got into folk Lords from Boom studios written by Matt kindt )art work in book god bless him!
It was a really sad ending what how everything resolved the situation at hand with these so-called demons.
LOVED it!!! I wish they would do a follow up.
Is the east of west year 2 hardcover out of print?
I'd guess so just by looking at the historic amazon price jump in January - camelcamelcamel.com/product/1534300597
It was supposed to be back in print by May or June. before the world took a pause.
What about top cow comics
