It's Volisport, in a dystopian steampunk era. EVERYONE needs a lozenge. I'm quite surprised Edvard hasn't Innovented one yet since his cough syrup was such a spectacular failure...
I believe Edvard was working on a hardened candy one could suck on to soothe the throat but it was taken off the market due to the cocaine percentage being well over the medically recommended amount. No doubt Astor's doing, the popinjay, everyone knows cocaine is exactly what the body needs to get it in fit fighting shape!
Among the combinations, I feel like Lilith and Kasimir has the most relaxed approach to their team up. Very trusting and respectable of each other's strengths and weaknesses.
I think since they recruited the murderchildren, Kasimir has gained respect for Lilith and her abilities. He seems relaxed when he works with her, knowing she'd handle herself, especially with ghosts which he finds scary. Lilith seems to respect Kasimirs experiences and knowledge as well. Or that's my interpretation of it at least.
It helps that there is a fairly clear division of labour. She knows spooks, he knows crims, and both are essential in their line of business. That's the strength of the 'R' in 'RPG'.
I just wanna say that, as a Blades in the Dark GM myself, the way that Luke presented that 4 Engagement Roll to Lilith was absolutely and unbelievably genius. The man's a born GM. 'Reduce load' is a pretty classic Engagement Roll complication suggested in the handbook, but having the load in question be searched, slowly, in front of the player, and cutting away to another player to give the former time to think (and also for the anxiety to build!) is just such a beautiful piece of GMing to have come up with on the spot...
is it disconcerting that the wonderful mechanical man is pretty much what Backaros is wanting, a souless worker that is good at its job and inexplicably feels pain
You know what... I'm wondering if spirits are possessing Edvard's WMMs. They _are_ inexplicably showing emotion and Edvard's at a loss for how it keeps happening.
Say what you want about Edvard, he at least is trying to eliminate the dread, fear and pain his wonderful mechanical men feel, and not deliberately installing and amplifying those feelings.
"I'm not NOT excited in a medical sense to do this, I'm just of course filled with an tremendous sense of dread and regret surrounding most of my life choices." Pep talk of the century 😂
Honestly, the Warden's professionalism only makes them scarier. These are people who gather corpses and destroy souls to prevent ghosts, sometimes with the corpses in horrific chunks, and they approach this from a cold efficiency. These people see a ghost wielding a giant bloody cleaver, and they destroy it than calmly discuss what it's classification was. I don't know if this is normal canon or Luke's invention, but it's brilliant either way.
Work with certain things long enough and they lose their shock factor. I've seen it in medical professionals and body removal people (I don't know their actual title). I've helped move a lot of bodies into and out of a morgue and, while I never developed the casualness that a lot of the body removal people did, I did get to see just how comfortable they can get. I remember one using a bagged body as a desk to write down the personal possessions that went with the corpse. She didn't even realize until I pointed it out. They can even be pretty unfazed by old bodies that kind of fall apart when moved. If spirit wardens were real, I can absolutely believe that a lot of them would become as coldly professional as displayed here. Or callous and jokey, which also happens often enough
The book does describe them as cold and professional as well as complete fanatics, but not to this extent. The thing we see here is more than likely Luke taking the original concept and running with it (something he surprisingly has incredible talent with despite his outrageous behaviour in D&D). In my own games I personally drove the wardens more into the realm of religious fanatics/witch hunters with a hero complex, but I like this colder, almost mechanised approach too.
I expect calm, but I've heard people who deal with similarly horrible situations tend to adopt deadpan dark humour. The complete lack of humour I can imagine would be unnerving.
Oh boy, based on the revelations in this one I feel Edvard's Marvellous ability to have creations spontaneously develop emotions and the ability to feel pain is going to become more than just a funny running joke...
Johnny is probably having a field day thinking of the possibilities this could enrich the Oxventure lore and maybe even make an adventure into the origins of the wardens.

Luke's such a great GM, rolling with the wardens in the closet after Lilith rolled a crit 1 and letting her take a uniform in the spirit of the moment, well played sir! 👏☺
Kasimir's emotional walls are coming down yay :) (because he got on well with Zillah and now Lilith, and also the bit with mike's character from season 1) Just based on this episode i'm getting the trust issues Kasimir is working through and i hope one day he can see the others as a thief family he can trust and work with. Also Ellen loving the expanded lore of Lilith, very cool :) and luke as always you're doing an awesome job and i love the voices you employ for your characters and the "complication" near the end (i don't want to spoil anyone but the extra bit their new friend found in the crematorium that whole thing) Nice work johnny clever plan at 49 mins
Man! I love the Kasimir episodes so much! Every single episode is fantastic, but since Johnny has played Blades before, they know the locations and react with such genuine reactions it makes you feel like you're watching a movie! Keep up the great work everyone!
I think this is very quickly becoming one of my favourite OX in the dark episodes. Lilith and Kasamir work really well together, I truly enjoyed learning more about Kas' past (and Lilith's too!), "roll off BEFORE the furnace, ideally" damn near killed me, and I now ship Kasimir and Tarryn (sp?) the Billhook. Luke's DMing and world/character-building is also on point. Overall great heist, 12/10, will watch again!
I love how Luke is fair enough with his decisions to make the story flow, but keeps a little consequence to make it entertaining and unpredictable. Hats off to you Luke!
Every episode this season have thus far been a banger, and this onne was no exception! Thanks for all the fantastic work you guys put in 💙 Also! So glad the dice were far kinder to Ellen and Johnny after their last heists (I also really enjoy Lillith and Kasimir team ups - they have such great energy)
So far, this has been my favourite score of the new season! Haven't watched the ones after this yet, I want to wait until I can binge a few episodes at once : D But man, this is sooooooo good! Luke's interpretation of the Wardens is both intriguing and creepy. Absolutely inspiring!
What a hectic episode 😮 Great as always though 😃 Especially with the puns 😂🤣😂😂😁 As bad as they were. Not sure which Lilith secret revealed so far is more insane she’s got demon heritage or she’s actually a [Spoiler] sent under the disguise of a foreign student 🤯
She has big protagonist energy. New to town, signing on with a bunch of quirky ruffians to do some crime while having superpowers and hunting a serial killer ghost
It's so rare characters are called Erin, so it was really weird hearing my name popping up. Even weirder that the voice Luke used matches my current wrecked voice from coughing all week...
I have to say, I love Jonny in this episode. While he is great as always as Kasamir, he just seemed to be really enjoying Luke's storytelling of this episode, which I love.
This was such a thoroughly immersive episode. Johnny and Lilith make a great team and I was genuinely on the edge of my seat a few times during the first viewing of this video (even though I know they won't die, I just got caught up in the action and tense environment). Can't wait to find out where Luke is taking us with this storyline.
Ah, one of my favourite character combinations on my birthday! Very thoughtful of you. Also, since the Brightstone Society of Analytical Alchemy (Alchemistry?) abbreviates to BSAA, should we expect one of them to be excellent at punching boulders to pieces?
What a great score. I can't thank you guys enough for introducing me to this game. I started with season 2 ep 1 & went back and watched all of season 1 and finally caught up. Really enjoy the content and also picked up the game myself. Me and my friends are on our 2nd heist which will be played next week. Keep up the great work I can't wait for the next episode l. Luke you are my role model/hero for this as I'm GM'ing for the first time in any TTRPG.
I love how Johnny is so in character as Kasimir that when they do occasionally break character you’re almost shocked to be reminded that they too find this humour funny.
I was already getting major Bloodborne vibes in this episode just from the crematorium descriptions, but then the description of the mace and how it can be activated with electricity had me instantly think of the tonitrus, which is one of my favorite weapons in Bloodborne. This crematorium also reminds me a lot of the Comstock House section of BioShock Infinite just from the whole creepy atmosphere and all. Like if Comstock House and the Orphanage in Bloodborne reproduced and created the crematorium. Lovely thought, that...
11:11 DO NOT forget the high heels they were originally designed for butchers and their literal bloody line of work. I will be bummed if you don't. 21:16 They needed a way in and Lillith whipping out the Ex Machina. What the actual fuck? Brilliant as all hell. YUS!
This is why I love D&D, fucking amazing. The humanity in there, the humor is ironic all on point. I am inspirited again. Now if only my keyboard wasn't the 4Chan KB and the only key on it doesn't work, I'll shall be getting a new one soon, I hope.
Oh man, Luke, I love your GMing style! I've tried Blades in the Dark once and our group took a much darker, grimer turn - I really enjoy the dark-yet-humourous style you have! I guess you could say the research being done in the progress division represents a... Clear and present danger
Hearing Ellen giggle is just what I needed to put a smile on my face ☺️
Same ☺️
I think it’s a universal effect ☺️
Long term project: Prison under Eleanor's house for holding the bosses.
Ghost assassin? That's metal as hell
Kasimir's emotional walls are coming down
yay :) (because he got on well with Zillah and now Lilith, and also the bit with mike's character from season 1) Just based on this episode i'm getting the trust issues Kasimir is working through and i hope one day he can see the others as a thief family he can trust and work with.
Also Ellen loving the expanded lore of Lilith, very cool :)
and luke as always you're doing an awesome job and i love the voices you employ for your characters and the "complication" near the end (i don't want to spoil anyone but the extra bit their new friend found in the crematorium that whole thing)
Nice work johnny clever plan at 49 mins
I love how easily the group knows how to press Ellens giggle button. Seeing her laugh makes me happy and want to laugh with them
Man! I love the Kasimir episodes so much! Every single episode is fantastic, but since Johnny has played Blades before, they know the locations and react with such genuine reactions it makes you feel like you're watching a movie! Keep up the great work everyone!
So the Bloodbourne shots were tetanus boosters all this time?
To be honest, I expected this to be cut into half, but no it's full frontal attack. Just brilliant
Taking odds on Lilith's season 3 shocking reveal.
Every episode this season have thus far been a banger, and this onne was no exception! Thanks for all the fantastic work you guys put in 💙
Also! So glad the dice were far kinder to Ellen and Johnny after their last heists (I also really enjoy Lillith and Kasimir team ups - they have such great energy)
Never expected the studious and unassuming Lilith to be the Prudence of the group. ⚡⚡⚡
Johnny was feeling it this episode 😂
They were on fire with the Tom Clancy puns, beautiful work!
Johnny going full punslinger to match Ellen here? Magnificent
So far, this has been my favourite score of the new season! Haven't watched the ones after this yet, I want to wait until I can binge a few episodes at once : D But man, this is sooooooo good! Luke's interpretation of the Wardens is both intriguing and creepy. Absolutely inspiring!
God I love the role playing in Blades in the Dark. You all are amazing.
That was a lot of fun!!
My favorite part I think is when Johnny kept making billhook jokes and Luke punished Ellen for it XD
I cant believe Kasimir asked for tear away clothing 🤣🤣🤣 amazing
Ellen and Johnny are a fantastic combo! Love them both! I can't wait for some
S P O O P Y C R I M E S
gonna need a spooper scooper after this episode lol
Spoopy
@@not_a_frog Not a spooker skooper?
@@soaringraven0 while that anagram is delightful, i can't betray the spoop 😂
The sheer amount of stress poor Ellen took omg
What an episode! Things are really kicking off now.
I'm gonna enjoy this with a cup of coffee and some snacks, i hope the heist goes smooth af
... It's more fun when it doesn't, though =)
@@jamesanthony8438 i love when a heist goes south really fast, since shenanigans always ensues and on the fly tactics are just *chef's kiss*
My favorite is Jane casually choking people out like a Hitman lets play
I love how much Luke has leveled up the difficulty with all of these tough curveballs
I have to say, I love Jonny in this episode. While he is great as always as Kasamir, he just seemed to be really enjoying Luke's storytelling of this episode, which I love.
Wholeheartedly agree with you! And just a gentle reminder that Johnny uses they/them pronouns.
I was seeing The Oldest House throughout most of this adventure. Lots of Control vibes and it was fantastic!
Am loving this season so far. I can’t wait to see how these different narrative strands are going to come together. Thank you so much guys.
My two favorite characters (out of a cast I love all of) investigating one of the places I’ve been curious about!
The intro countdown to the live stream is so good and I love it, but strangely it also makes me want to cry lol
"I'm very reluctant about this plan. Go Team!" is something I want on a t-shirt.
"I can disrobe with alarming speed" 🤣
I just realized astors ancestors were famous jailers in geth and the oxventure guild helped marry barnabys ancestors some deep cuts good job 👍
Ah, one of my favourite character combinations on my birthday! Very thoughtful of you.
Also, since the Brightstone Society of Analytical Alchemy (Alchemistry?) abbreviates to BSAA, should we expect one of them to be excellent at punching boulders to pieces?
Why wasn't there a bell toll for Bakaroth (sp?)?
Also, Lilith taking the mask - investigation prowess or serial killer trophy?
What a great score. I can't thank you guys enough for introducing me to this game. I started with season 2 ep 1 & went back and watched all of season 1 and finally caught up. Really enjoy the content and also picked up the game myself. Me and my friends are on our 2nd heist which will be played next week. Keep up the great work I can't wait for the next episode l. Luke you are my role model/hero for this as I'm GM'ing for the first time in any TTRPG.
The roleplaying between Lilith and Kasmir was just, scrumptious!
This was absolutely brilliant from start to finish.
I absolutely love Luke's Spirit Warden voice.
I love how Johnny is so in character as Kasimir that when they do occasionally break character you’re almost shocked to be reminded that they too find this humour funny.
Watching Johnny's eyes this episode was extremely entertaining. They kept going huge!!
Johnny's acting is just... *sheffs kiss*. Hats of to ya
This season is soo good, every episode is a gem
Luke really upped his game for this one, love it!!
Someone let oxtra know the ep3 is missing from the playlist
I think that vworked because it's there now
Oxtra Oxtra, read all about it
Wuxtry Wuxtry! They never did follow up on renaming the channel Outside Wuxtry.
I don't understand how, but these episodes always somehow seem to get even better and better with each new one lol
This is my favorite combo by far
What an amazing episode! Luke looked like he was having so much fun!!
Luke's Warden acting is my absolute favorite thing. 😭
Production line of death: perfect T-shirt logo 🙏🏼
So it turns out Volisport was based off of Cabot Cove, ME?
Bold choice.
I always picture it as considerably more metropolitan than Jessica Fletcher's old haunt.
Oh man, Luke, I love your GMing style! I've tried Blades in the Dark once and our group took a much darker, grimer turn - I really enjoy the dark-yet-humourous style you have!
Also, I really appreciate your and Ellen's capacity to make Johnny laugh until he nearly cries. :D
Thank you all for a great session!
*until they nearly cry
Johnny uses they/them pronouns :)
The team are very funny so it’s not surprising they make everyone they’ve worked with as well as each other genuinely laugh like they do us fans 😅 Even if Luke as Dob and Mike in general a lot make them face palm as well 😅
Lilith's supervisor is possibly my new favorite NPC in the series. Contrabaaaand!
OOh, this'll be nice and dark!
Wait a minute... don't I see you in like every outside Xbox and xtras stream
@@ThemightyTho Why yes. :)
Kasimirs leg brace will never be clean again... It will always be a bit sticky.... Blood out of wood and metal is a pain to clean. Especially in that age
Do I want to know how you know that?
@@ItsCamille735 slaughtering mooses... And not taking care of it directly... Leave it in an hour or two and it can be hard to remove... I don't think they have nice cleaning supplies
why can't I like a video twice? But seriously, Luke is amazing!
"Production Line of Death" love the wording
Lilith has secretly been a Winchester this whole time😳🤯
I watched Show of the Weekend and felt compelled to come here...
With their emphasis on speed/productivity and disapproval of bathroom breaks it seems the Wardens are the Volisport version of working for Amazon... (also unpaid internships, corpses and gleeful evilness).
"Mediocre!"
I'm having Fable 2 Crucible commentary flashbacks...
Ngl Hollows as a concept are terrifying. Like all I can picture is the essence removal scene from the OG Dark Crystal.
There's a classic I haven't seen referenced in a while. I wonder if my DVD still works.
plot twist: Erin and Terrin are actually triple agents for the Dimmer Sisters.
