Nice review for a very versatile antenna. I have used mine in SOTa, Field ops and on 60M bug out testing. Works great with the built in radio tuner and manual tuners. It is very glove friendly as I found trying it out in the cold weather here in Toronto . I have tie wrapped the spike to a pole or tree stump if the ground is frozen. I could always pull the jaws clamp out but i didnt bring it
I am planing to get this same antenna system and would like to know if the CHA CAP HAT helps to radiate the RF efficiently? I am more interested in DX contacts and was wondering if you've used the CAP HAT...does it help lower the take off angle? thanks for sharing
Wind test... check! Great video, as always, Julian! Your mobile radio operations are a true test of equipment 'in the field', some serious weather you operate in sir! I hope to some day QSO with you!
What do you recommend to help the surface contact electrical connection between elements. Have you sanded (the ends of the elements) or added any solvents or contact helper to your antenna? Is it needed ?
I really enjoy your videos. I was initially looking at getting the Alpha 6-80M, but because of your reviews, I decided to order the Chameleon Mini antenna system! GREAT reviews / GREAT information !!!
Hello Julian I have a question for you. If I an getting a low SWR and I don't have counterpoise stretched out more then a couple feet. Is it benifical to lay the coumterpoise wire 1/4wavelength or will it make much diffrence if I have a low SWR already?
Nice video, you make some of the most professional videos on TH-cam!!! Keep it up! By the way, how did you end up in Finland if you don't mind me asking? Seems like a very beautiful place.
It will be interesting a comparison Chameleon MPAS vs MFJ 1979 17 feet telescopic whip and see which one perform better and the telescopic whip is much comfortable on a backpack and much easier to setup because is a telescopic and btw the MFJ 1979 whip is 59.99 vs Chameleon MPAS
Definitely would be happy with the MFJ up until the point its dropped (and it breaks), or one needs to carry it further than from the car to a picnic bench (because it weighs a ton). As for as easy to setup, what is simpler than intersecting poles? I have a MFJ-1979. It is a nice telescopic whip, but it is delicate and heavy, so I don't carry it to the field. With a few additional parts, it would make an excellent end fed half wave, as long as it's not out for a fixed installation.
Actually, thinking about it, both have attributes. A comparison video might be interesting on the channel. In fact, there is nothing better than a resonant vertical antenna. I'll see if I can put something together.

Great Video. It's nice to see people's set up but to see a set up with contacts being made to show everything is working makes these videos the best!
I found some long nylon bags for camping pole sets that are great to carry the mil whips in for protection from dirt and mud.
Well done Julian! Love Chameleon!
Great video as usual! I do need to pick up one of these spikes!

I'm going to purchase an antenna just like the one you have. thanks for the review.😀
Outstanding! I’m seriously considering this antenna and the FT-891. Do you have a recommended tuner for use with this combo?

Can you use more than one wire
How long is the Counterpoise wire?

Doggie deploys his own counterpoise at 9:10 ;)
