My wife and I started playing tennis again. We appreciate your channel. You do a fantastic job. Extremely informative. I wanted to know whether you still use the Slinger and think it is a good value for senior players. Keep up the great work.
I have one of these and it’s awesome! The topspin on it is crazy. It started as a Kickstarter and they hired a former CEO of Prince to help get the project to completion. We also got a case of the Wilson Trinity balls to go with it and they hold up really well with the machine (it does eat a lot of felt off the ball initially).
I already broke my new racquet strings on the machine lmao. I'll definately be using spare racquets on this machine now, but yeah the top spin is insane.
Hi Aaron, thanks for sharing your experience. wish to know if your slinger bag is still in good condition? I am also looking at this product but cannot find any customer reviews about its quality. Also, is the delivery still delayed now? Thanks
Hey guy if you guys are looking for the slinger ball machine get them from Harry . He's the man, thanks for getting two of them for us without the 1 or 2 months wait. Thanks again Harry.
Placing the controls on the front near the ball discharge is a good way to get a black eye. My Tennis Tudor controls are on the side which makes more sense. There is no reason to get close in front of a ball machine when it is running unless you want to get popped.
Its a decent machine for the price, but if you're willing to pay for a ball machine, I rather pay a little extra more and get one that can actually feed balls above 45 mph.
This for anyone not in the know is the original version of the Slinger, there is now a ⚠Slinger Bag Version 2. You can tell the new version from 2 blue fabric strips on the front of the machine in the middle ( between the 2 blue squares ) ... Version 2 offers a better inside ball area, so fewer balls will get stuck on the sides.
I'll keep my Silent Partner which is compact, has both adjustable topspin and backspin speeds and oscillation for around the same price...plus it will fire the ball up to 95 mph...this is limited to only 45 mph. That is the real drawback...plus no control on the spin speed or even backspin.
It’s main advantages are price and mobility. Of course there are many much better tennis machines out there, but for someone who uses it 1-2 times a week $1k+ is too much
I've always wanted a ball machine. I use to play over 10 years a go but with my current job and the days I have off I don't have anyone to hit with. I might need to get one now.
I must admit that I was not at all impressed with this machine - until I heard the price ($650). I recently bought a Lobster Grand Elite IV and absolutely love it. Was an unexpected saviour when Corona hit this year ! However - it is in a completely different price category (I paid about $2000 (the basic model is about $950). I think that this "Slinger" has a nice price vs features point captured here from what I remember of similarly priced models when I began to choose mine. The key point is if its customer service will be good being such a new product (& company?). As a summary: a.) I LOVE: - Soft suitcase design - Storage space for (2?) raquets - "Server the Server" feature (gotta be quite lazy to want that but kinda cool!) - Attached ball picker-upper tube (Although the Lobster's optional tool is much more efficient) b.) I don't like: - lack of variety of workouts (but to be fair, this only comes with higher priced Lobsters) - Basic-only features on the remote (but if its standard, better than the Lobster's which is priced from $169-300 !!) - Need for an attachable base for oscillation feature (not sure if this is an option or included in the basic quoted price) Hopefully the charger is durable enough to not burn out like TWO of my basic ("slow") Lobster chargers did :-( BTW: they are supposedly ready to introduce an improved version soon. (And hopefully included in the basic price of $650?) My closing comment is that you should not get so excited to set up your phone on the handle. I did this with my lobster as an enthusiastic new buyer and believe it or not but I cracked the phone lens on my VERY FIRST SHOT ! I could not have aimed it and done it so doing it on the very first hit was a real freakish occurance - but not so unusual to expect it to happen semi regularly if you like to use it regularly. Expensive selfie-video - especially since I could not even use the phone until I got a new screen in 1 week because it would not recognize my pattern swipe ! PS: I will only believe that it is good for a baseball/softball training machine if it is demonstrated to do so with a real baseball and/or a real softball (not with a tennis ball!) They are all sized differently and if like the Lobster, the two counter-rotating wheels are a fixed distance apart. Final-final comment: When making this video, you did a pretty good and semi-humourous job however, since even $650 is serious bucks to spend, your viewers might want more details such as the range of ball speeds (Lobster is 40-80 mph), variable of time between balls (Lobster is 4-10 secs), etc, etc, etc. Cheers and let's hope that the USO 2020 goes well in the bubble !
The best thing about this is you can travel with it... lobster no... going to tournaments without a coach will help tons with this slinger thing you know...
@Curious George - actually, i do travel on flights with my Lobster...but i admit that this Slingler LOOK more like a conventional - though oversized - check in bag. Actually, i think the lobster is significantly smaller from looking how large the Slinger looked standing next to the guy in the video.
thanks for demonstrating this ball machine. previously, i thought people only used this when they don't have friends. at the same time, there isn't many people that are willing to feed you for 30 -60 mins
I was looking into this because of its price point, design and portability. I've had the tennis tutor in the past but was also looking into the lobsters. I think the only negative about this machine and why it's priced the way it is the speed at which the ball is ejected. The other ball machines go from 60-80 mph while this only tops out at 40mph. I feel this would work great for kids and beginners but not intermediate and advanced players as they would need more pace on the ball. But for the price, you can beat it, it's comparable to the lobster freedom.
Slinger is mainly for Junier player but it is with very strong topspin at high-speed setting. Not easy for junier player. Spinshot or Lobster provides much more features. Comparison video : th-cam.com/video/hPfPmJliV1k/w-d-xo.html
I only have this to say - Don't buy if you're not in the States / UK they don't care about their customers outside of the above. FYI Kickstarter happened 2 years ago, with a lot of backtracking done on promises. (Edit to include UK as highlighted by the distributor's response below)

Came across this video while researching ball machines. I am trying to sort out which unit is the best value ball machine under $1000. Lots to choose from: Nisplay N1 Tennis Ball Machine $899. Tennis Tutor Tennis Cube w/ Oscillation $909. Tennis Tutor ProLite w/ Battery - Oscillation $949. Slinger Bag Tennis Ball Machine $649. Sports Tutor eCannon Tennis Ball Machine $649. Lobster Sports Elite Liberty $1179 and now there is a new very lightweight and portable Nisplay Model L1 coming out for around $350. (there are videos online promoting the unit now). Have you heard any buzz about the Nisplay Model L1? What do you feel is the best value ball machine under $1000. right now?
Can someone do me a favor...I'm contacting the company because they forgot to include the charger with the slinger machine, but in the meantime I want to buy a charger from Walmart (if available) to use the machine...could you please give me the specs off of the label on the charger so i know what volts/amp I would need to buy an aftermarket charger? Thank you so much.
6:20 he says medium speed.. that aint true.. its at max speed if you observed the setting at close up. This machine has only one roller so half as slow and cant do flat shots, only with top spin. I wish these reviewers would clearly provide pros and cons instead of embellishing on the positives. I also find too many things this bag tries to do and too many little loose things to keep track off. The focus should have been a simple ball machine with focus on launching balls and nothing else. I guess for that, there are many established products.
it's really not that serious. with everything that is going on right now, i would think one would like portability, ease of use, and still be able to get a good workout. it's not a one trick pony. tennis isn't a one trick pony neither. you don't just have the ball come at you at one speed or height in a game, do you?
In Canada, we have "Silent Partner" ball machines. I don't know the price for these ones, but there are models of Silent Partner that are MUCH MUCH more advanced than this one, they have a match play mode, programmable drill patterns, variations on height/distance in addition to osculations side to side. I used to have one of those back in the days.
I looked into silent partner but they cost much more and I personally like the form factor. I could see myself taking this to a resort somewhere for vacation and just check it in as a second bag.
@@MrUnderdogArt Well, the one that is comparable in terms of features costs approximately the same actually. The form factor isn't as good for travelling, I absolutely agree. However, if it's just for vacations and not for drills I'd rather find somebody at the resort to hit with. From my personal experience though, I'd rather hit on a wall than use a ball machine if I didn't have anyone to hit with, so I'm not advocating for Silent Partner or any other machine.
Peech One thing it’s to bulky if you want to carry it in a car, you have to manually adjust the height, you have to set it on a stand for oscillation, you would have to remove all that unnecessary covering to do any type of maintenance like changing the battery, etc. All I’m saying is compare it with other machines before buying.
Major Price I see your points. It’s pretty affordable though. Is there a machine you’d recommend to me if I’d like a remote to control all the configurations like speed and oscillation? And is good quality and works well! Thanks
@@Peech It all depends on how much you want to spend and what options you want. I looked at several and decided on a Scoop Rival by Silent Partner. They have six(6) models and I think they provide more options for the money. There's also Lobster which is a very popular machine and has several models. Just Google ball machines and you should find a link that compare different machine. Also, consider the size if you will be using a car to carry it. I have a 2015 Ford Mustang and a MDX, and I just put it in the front seat of the Mustang. The Lobster might be little smaller than the Silent Partner, but costs a little more. I've seen more Lobsters on the courts than any other machine.
I've had a SP for years and use it all the time. The remote is intermittent after a sudden downpour, and the 2L function doesn't work well any more, but overall, it was still worth the price. I'll probably get the top of the line version -- with an extended warranty -- eventually. The Slinger? After a SP, meh.
No. Only topspin and it's way way way to heavy for beginners and intermediate player's. There is NO way to slow down the topspin delivered by this machine. 😆
some grumpy uppity people in these comments. this machine seems to be good for the money, if you are practicing by yourself, why do you need all those features to practice, that the other machines have and you pay twice as much? not everybody has a car, a lot of people walk to where they need to go, and this seems to be less bulky and it carries everything in it in one shot, except for the extra piece to oscillate the balls, i swear people love to complain just to complain, and spend twice as much and brag how much so and so cost. everybody has different needs, and everybody's money isn't the same. remember that.
Not bad for the price. Not a fan of what looks like a fabric casing though. I own a ball machine and dealing with green fuzz doesn't seem easy with that fabric. A hard plastic casing makes it much easier cleaning. I've owned the same ball machine for over 5 years so hopefully these things will last as long.
did you get it delivered yet? I see that their website mentions one month delivery, but wanted if see you get it before that! I wonder why they need a month for delivery!
G Banger I was thinking of getting Spinfire pro2 V2 but it’s over my budget then I thought I will get Spinshot. Now with your assertive of Lobster I need to consider again 😂 I think Spinshot is not bad isn’t it? Not sure where it’s made though
Tenn Sen Made is China also. Had a tennis friend buy a spin shot thinking he will save a few $$. I bought my Lobster at the same time. My Lobster hasn’t missed a beat and the Spin Shot did have issues. To the point we I loaned him my Lobster to get some training in while waiting for repairs. The lobster is ageing very well, can’t say the same for the Spin Shot. Lobster I believe have been manufacturing ball machines for 50 years. Speaks volumes for the quality and service they provide. Good luck with your next ball machine purchase
I’m shopping for a ball machine but the max ejection speed for the Slinger is only 45mph but do like the price at $675 so I am not a buyer yet, anyway. Tennis Tutor ProLite ball ejection speed is up to 60mph w/oscillation $899 while the Lobster Elite Liberty up to 80mph $949 but no oscillation feature. Elite One does have an oscillation feature but the price moves up to $1139 The Hydrogen Sports Proton has a MSRP of $1595 with speeds up to 70mph with no oscillation option that I could find.
Slinger's gimmick is the mobility - it's easier to lug around compared to existing ball machines. But if you're like ntrp 4.5, or even 4 actually, the balls are too slow to help you in your training.
This looks like a commercial, I used this and for any 4.0+ player it’s way too slow. I tried the lobster and it was twice as fast and more challenging, and this thing doesn’t seem like it’s built to last. The lobster was a much heavier ball even when I set both at similar speeds.
You can bend down beside the bag and adjust the settings so you don't get hit in the face. Also if you're using it alone, it's better to stop the machine first and then adjust the settings, otherwise you'll waste a lot of balls by the time you get back to your hitting spot. It's definitely more mobile than the other ball machines but it's still bulky to me, especially if I load it with balls first, plus the oscillator is carried around in a separate bag. Then again I don't have a car so that's the other side of the equation.
If you want speed, slinger isn't good enough. It has good topspin for sure. at max settings it spits balls out like every second but the ball itself isn't fast so it takes longer to reach you and that makes your timing go way off.
I dont think any videos show full speed since they originally promised 70mph or something. Then released info that it wouldnt be 70mph but did not update the kickstarter page for a VERY LONG TIME to reflect the actual specs.
My wife and I started playing tennis again. We appreciate your channel. You do a fantastic job. Extremely informative. I wanted to know whether you still use the Slinger and think it is a good value for senior players. Keep up the great work.

Yeah you could see all of the felt coming off at the mouth of the machine with those balls.
Topspin is crazy. Next version I bet they make it be able to be dialed back some.

I'll definately be using spare racquets on this machine now, but yeah the top spin is insane.

I have a 2015 Ford Mustang and a MDX, and I just put it in the front seat of the Mustang. The Lobster might be little smaller than the Silent Partner, but costs a little more. I've seen more Lobsters on the courts than any other machine.
Major Price alrighty, ty
I have a Silent Partener Ac/Dc and love it, its twice the price of this and worth every penny.
To think this Slinger is all that is to have not owned a real ball machine before.

Are you able to choose the spin the machine puts on the ball? So is slice, heavy topspin etc. possible, or just one form of spin.
Only topspin unfortunately
No. Only topspin and it's way way way to heavy for beginners and intermediate player's. There is NO way to slow down the topspin delivered by this machine. 😆
Great review.
Why is the control panel up front right next to the ejection port?
Don’t wanna be staring down the barrel while programming the machine settings.
I am concerned about that too. I would not consider buy this for that reason.
You can bend down beside the machine you know lol
The serving part is fun. Can it feed slower to the server? If I have a bad toss it will hit me in the head with the next feed?!
some grumpy uppity people in these comments. this machine seems to be good for the money, if you are practicing by yourself, why do you need all those features to practice, that the other machines have and you pay twice as much? not everybody has a car, a lot of people walk to where they need to go, and this seems to be less bulky and it carries everything in it in one shot, except for the extra piece to oscillate the balls, i swear people love to complain just to complain, and spend twice as much and brag how much so and so cost. everybody has different needs, and everybody's money isn't the same. remember that.
Where can I buy
Slinger or Proton?
Thanks for the review! Ordered mine a couple of days ago and looking forward to it.
did you get it delivered yet? I see that their website mentions one month delivery, but wanted if see you get it before that! I wonder why they need a month for delivery!
V V Hey there. I have not received it yet. Still waiting for a tracking number.
@@imillardimillard8410 oh wow ok, thanks!
@@imillardimillard8410 hey there? Did u get the ball machine?
Where can I buy one?
It only feeds top spin all the time??? Not sure if that's a good thing.
Awesome 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Slinger bag is legit. Just waiting for them to be able to ship to CANADA.
Great review and demo - I could see alot of the features. I ordered one a couple weeks ago, can't wait!
How much does this puppy cost?
Cant wait for mine, should be coming soon
Thinking between Spinshot Player and Slinger bag. Any thoughts please?
Buy a Lobster Liberty, can’t go wrong. Also these Chinese made machines a problem machines.
G Banger thanks very much. I will need to do more research then. 🤞🤞
Elite One does have an oscillation feature but the price moves up to $1139
The Hydrogen Sports Proton has a MSRP of $1595 with speeds up to 70mph with no oscillation option that I could find.
Slinger's gimmick is the mobility - it's easier to lug around compared to existing ball machines. But if you're like ntrp 4.5, or even 4 actually, the balls are too slow to help you in your training.
@@nijiak Yes, I agree. I do like the mobility but is not a good option for advanced players.
Can you adjust the topspin and get the machine to deliver flat balls or even back spin?
No.. topspin is not adjustable.. and no back-spin capable... machine will always shoot top-spins..
Jedi Master thx
How much,,,??
Nice one.
How much is this?
I would like to know how fast does it throws the balls
The bag shoots straight feeds that can come upwards of 45 mph and between 2-to-10 seconds in frequency.
top speed ?
Mines coming on Friday. They sent me a Fedex tracking number. Can't wait!
Cost
ttwarrior1 the machine alone is $550 and they have packages with the oscillator platform + ball tube for just under $800.
Hi, do you like it? I’m considering of getting one
I love it. It really has help my swing and technique. It also has made my play much more consistent.
This looks like a commercial, I used this and for any 4.0+ player it’s way too slow. I tried the lobster and it was twice as fast and more challenging, and this thing doesn’t seem like it’s built to last. The lobster was a much heavier ball even when I set both at similar speeds.
Looks big and bulky compared to other brands. Controls at the base is not good. Price is decent though.
what's wrong with the control being at the base?! It is not bulky at all, and much lighter, easier to move around compared to 'other brands'
@@TennisSpin Gotta bend down all the time. And maybe getting hit in the face if you get in the way.
I have one on the way. Excited but worried cause a lot of posts talk about things being faulty or broken.
From my experience shopping for a ball machine online, that's pretty much all ball machines. I'll keep borrowing the clubs for now.
Hi, any update? How’s the machine?
Tenn Sen luckily I got my machine fully intact. The ball tube broke but they will send a new one. th-cam.com/video/cl50WpvFphk/w-d-xo.html
Isn't this the one that Dachor is going to take on?
Wish you showed full speed. Also if this is an add is there a link?
If you want speed, slinger isn't good enough. It has good topspin for sure. at max settings it spits balls out like every second but the ball itself isn't fast so it takes longer to reach you and that makes your timing go way off.
I dont think any videos show full speed since they originally promised 70mph or something. Then released info that it wouldnt be 70mph but did not update the kickstarter page for a VERY LONG TIME to reflect the actual specs.
@@meowmixmeowmix agreed, it's more like 70kmh at most which is VERY different from 70mph
@@nijiak That's a shame. Looks like they spent all the money on the design of this thing and not on the internals.
it's absolutely not an ad.
