2019 Lincoln MKZ, I had water pump replaced. 3 months later, died out while driving. Got a jump. Sounded like a rod knock. Had it towed 2 shop. Whom said, “ ENGINE BLOWN”! What r your thoughts?
wow! thank you so much 4 making this video! It actually stopped me from purchasing a 2011 MKX w/ the 3.7l . I knew the older 3.5's were trash & had the water pump located behind the timing cover but I did NOT think the 3.7's did! It is worthy of mentioning they did NOT do this on the 2011 & up Mustang's w/ the 3.7l . It's still a normal h20 pump on the outside of the engine driven by the serpentine belt. I guess Ford knew that would hinder Mustang sales if they did this crappy design on one of their flagships, huh?
i could be wrong you make a great point, because the dealers make lots of money changing the pump from labor, its probably because its a sideways (FWD) mounted version, there was probably no room to have a belt driven water pump on the front but, your theory wouldn't surprise me
Thanks for the video but where is the long video of how to change the water pump out. The full one? You have the link? Couldn’t find it anywhere on your TH-cam channel or your website. Thanks
Could they have designed this to be anymore difficult and expensive to repair? What the hell Ford trying to force people into taking the car to a dealership or shop. Not exactly a a Saturday afternoon driveway job.
Can you remove the water crossover without removing the intake on a 2010 navigator 5.4 liter? I'm just trying to replace does gaskets on the water crossover.
If you mentioned this in your video, I must have missed it. My question........Is there a way to make the water pump last longer or is the water pump issue completely random?
Get rid of the Motorcraft coolant, wether it's orange or yellow, get rid of it. Use a P-Oat asian vehicle coolant. P-Oat coolant has phosphates that essentially coat your entire cooling system in a thin layer. This layer protects rubber seals and metal components. The updated Motorcraft Yellow coolant is a P-Oat formula, however, I still wouldn't trust it. Super tech blue from Walmart does the job.
What kind of genius buries a water pump inside the engine. Especially directly above the oil pan. Cars may run better than ever, but for what they charge at sale. This design is ridiculous. It can destroy an engine if it isn't caught in time. Way to go engineer's.
My lincoln Mkt 2014 watter pump broke and my mechanic replaced the pump for 700 $ . The cheapest price on the market. Of course the Ford dealership wanted from 1600 $ to 2200 $ . Ford made those cars more complicated so costumers can pay a lot of money to the dealership. .
All I know is the engineers that designed engines that you need to remove half of the engine just to replace the water pump!!! Need to be tortured somehow. Make them replace 20 of them and see if they keep designing things in that manner. I'm pretty sure they will change things.
It's almost like Ford WANTS the coolant 2 mix with the oil just b/c of a failed h20 pump!?! Now you're most likely gonna need a whole new engine!?! I mean, holy crap, with this amount of work needing 2 be done just 2 replace the darn thing, who's really gonna preemptively do this job b4 it wears out? We used 2 call this profit engineering in Texas!!!
I was gonna buy one that had a bad water pump im a mechanic and I remembered not every car is a pushrod motor pain in the ass I passed on the car not worth it
I got one as a gift, 07 MKZ "Mechanics special" previous owner said it's mine if I can make it run... I'm halfway through (17 years as a mechanic) doing it on the ground with no lift... I hope I can sell this car for enough to make it worth the work 🙄

Holy crap! Thanks Ford for making this such an expensive repair! What was the total man hours and average cost of the entire repair?
$1000
Typical Ford nonsense
Thank yall helped me out on a couple jobs thank you

Need to know. How to remove the heatcore. 3.7l 2014 Lincoln mkz
Ford's engine design is so bad it makes the Cadillac Northstar look like a work of art :-/

Yep... think I'll just keep my old 70's Lincoln.
I'm thinking twice about buying a naturally aspirated 3.7 Lincoln now. Maybe I'll just keep the Nissan Note which is so simple and reliable.
How many swears have been said by mechanics everywhere personally directed to these engineers
Another way to get ripped off by.......government regulations caused all of these extra repair cost......

Change your coolant every two years, or 40k miles, and use the new Motorcraft Yellow coolant.
@@chuckschreiber2365 Thanks for the reply. The more information I have, then better.

Yeah, screw this newer stuff period. Ford/Lincoln is poop these days.
Which is the special tool for lincoln mkz 2007
For a water pump
Will never buy another Ford product...............
thats crazy to replace a water pump must cost $1000"s
With parts, 1400$
2015 wont start after replacement of water pump what can cause that
You didn’t connect the battery 😂
How to remove the power steering pump from this car also
Are you serious! I should just junk the car! Who would design this? This is absolutely crazy. All this just to change a water pump?!
Great engineering ford running the water pump off the timing chain - engineers are worthless & should be paid as such.
I wanted to buy a mks found or Taurus but this is to invasive 😫
How much can I expect to pay a mechanic to do this job?

Oh hell no. I'm going back to a 1980s Lincoln.
Wait but that's a Ford your working on , so it's the same engine
Wtf! I just got quoted 2700 for the job smh…. What was ford thinking?!?
