Stephen, I wanted to thank you again for being so nice to us. Seeing you finally in person had a been a mission of mine since we had been coming down, and im glad to say it was 25 miles out!! Thank you Again, those people from KENTUCKY!
“Let’s keep on fishing, I ain’t no quitter,” has to be the most underrated statement you made. Hate that you got hooked but thankful it wasn’t too bad. Glad you were able to get it out solo and continue fishing! Appreciate the content and congrats on the snappers!
You are an absolute gem on this platform. Respectful boater, pays attention to the fishing rules and regulations, and is genuinely informative about the fishing that he does. Keep up the great work.
That encounter with your fans is exactly why you're my favorite content creator on the Alabama gulf coast. Every time I've met you, you're extremely friendly and courteous. Other creators would be smart to follow your lead.

I wanna buy property somewhere along the coast from Long Beach,ms all the way to Pensacola. I hope I’m at your point in life one day . I’m 22 now . God speed man thank you for your service also !
Hey Steve! I'm from Northern Kentucky too, and I've seen all your videos. Been subscribed for quite a while. Wish I could get down there to do some fishing, but unfortunately I'm bedridden. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying your fishing trips.
I'm french and amazed by the content of your channel, I can't see how you dont have wayyy more subscribers. It's one of thé few fishing channel explaining everything , respectful and never boasting. Thanks à lot for this amazing content! Always looking forward for more!
That leader change was the deal. I fish with a guy that seldom goes over 30 and he has put snapper over 25 pounds in the boat. He does use flouro though it is much more abrasion resistant than mono. Got to be a great feeling knowing you are providing folks with a lot of entertainment and passing on your knowledge as well.
Hello there Steve My name is Andy, I came across your channel Two days ago and fell in love with it. Love watching these videos and watching you and your mom catching fish together. I lost my Mom few years ago and wanted to say thank you for sharing your videos. I'm bench watching your videos for bit now... Please take care of each, I see how much y'all enjoy fishing together... God bless both y'all...
Brother, i feel your pain getting hooked like that. Never happened to me, but did end up with carpentry staples through all 4 fingers on my left hand already
Had to pull one out of my brother on the pier years ago. Had him bite on an old dirty fish rag LOL! We were into the Spanish and he didn’t want to leave. After I pulled it through, we fished for another three hours. Like my brother, you are a trooper Steve. That had to hurt so bad. Great video! Keep them coming!
Thank you for not cutting out that hooked finger scene. Im planning on starting up fishing again and thats never happened to me but now i know how to take care of it! Love your videos. Keep it up!
My condolences. Was rigging up before I went fishing (waiting for my husband, eager to get out and catch the tide in the Hudson River ) and put a #2 right through my finger. The emergency doctor had to go to the funeral home next door in order to find something strong enough to cut through the shank of the hook! Missed the tide. Still went fishing, even though my finger was full of novocaine. Caught fish! Hope you're ok!
My Wife and I will be there for 40 days coming from IL, starting June 2nd. We'll be in a Blue Robalo 24' CC and I'd love to say hi just like those folks from KY. Being from IL but fishing SWFL some, your channel has been my learning resource as well. I wonder how many of your subscribers will say the same? You're a great educator and you tube is a great resource. If I don't see ya, I'll say thank you now.
Love you vids Stephen. I in KY-44, but I’m a southerner and so love watching your vids. Especially catch clean n cook. My mouth waters every time. Thanks.
Awe bro! I'm sorry about your finger! I had a through and through in my foot with a fish on and watching that fish flop on your boat brought it back way too vividly. Glad you're alright, thank you for the videos!
Bruh... that sucks... (Knock on wood) never had to push one through like that but I"ve been close... thanks for sharing about the heavy duty cutters... I totally need to add that to my tackle box...
Dang bro. You are one tough hombre. Insane how well you handled that, and then kept on fishing. I guess that's why some folks are meant to serve, and some are not. Best fishing channel on YT.
Dude!!!! You are just , (shaking my head trying to find the right word) a Trooper, one heck of a guy IMO! I know that had to hurt like the dickens, but you were so cool and calm and just kept onah fishin like it was nutten!! I love every single minute of your times you share with us! Take care and see ya next time! Tell your mom hello!
Wow, you handled that pain well and definitely made the right decision. Glad you were able to keep fishing and enjoy the rest of the day. I saw that Fin come up at 20:41 and thought it was a shark lol
GodSpeed good brother. Your undying respect for creation and appreciation for the bounty is inspiring. Thank you and keep up the good work my brother in Christ.
Oh, Steven! I literally screamed out loud when you got hooked with the barb. Oh, it must have hurt so badly. Prayers for a quick healing. ❤ Used to seeing blood on you, but not YOURS! Thankful for your wonderful channel.
Love the videos as always! I know the pain of getting hooked for sure. Fishing for any length of time with artificial you are going to get hooked. That’s why it’s important to have the equipment to remove the hooks. Be safe out there!!!
Brother I have been there. First time out on my kayak and a bass threw a treble hook into my hand with him still hooked. Mine didn't go all the way through, so I had to slice my finger to get to the barb to push it out. Truly sucked but I too stayed out there and pushed on. Caught some nice crappie a few minutes later and made it worth my while. :) Honestly, I hope to see you out on the water one day when I am up in the Florida Panhandle fishing with my brother. My family loves your show.
Stephen, I felt your pain. Around the summer of 1974 I was freshwater fishing at my favorite reservoir in Pa when an 18 inch Walleye hit my eight inch triple treble hooked Rapala. I brought him onto the shore and he was still flopping around when I went to grab him like the muppet that I am and the rear treble hook buried itself into my right thumb. The more he flopped, the deeper the hook dug into the bone in my thumb. A nearby fisherman came over and tried to pull it out and I almost passed out. IT HURT! In the ER two doctors had to work on it to pull it out. One held my hand down with both of his hands and the other had pliers and had to work the pliers back and forth to get it out. But you're the man pushing the hook through to get it out. Isn't there a first aid kit in your boat?
Great video brother! You are a gentleman and an awesome fisherman! Love that you don't use bad language even when you get a hook sent straight thru your finger! I aspire to be more like you and clean up my language!
I caught a hook in the knuckle with a walleye and the net still attached in 2020. It bled like no tomorrow. I nearly flattened the barbs on all my baits. Keep it clean and goes to show why you keep the right tools and first aid.
Great job Stephen! Hardest thing in the world is to maintain a tight grip on something that you're dragging through your own flesh. I know it hurt, I probably would have cut the barb out and been bleeding like a stuck pig. You da man! I'd love to see what you do with the (?Lined Snapper?). Love the way you treat your viewers.

I can't believe I have not gotten hooked past the barb yet. You had the full right to say those cuss words, buddy. Thank the Lord you got it out by yourself and kept on fishing.
First aid box on the boat is needed young sir. Some band aids, bandages and anti septic wipes. You might've saved the t shirt too. Fisherman's hazzard those hooks, I dont think I know anybody who hasnt fell foul of them at one time. Never seen a nose piercing mind. That guy who did, that must've hurt like hell. My sympathies to you. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Oh man, I did the same thing but with a largemouth on a whopper plopper. The throbbing just doesn't go away, but every cast i was flicking blood into the water and we caught so many fish that day. I wrapped my finger multiple time but would just rip it right back open again. When you set the hook you can see the blood starting again lol. It's just a matter of time before you bury a barb in your skin, always good to have the know-how and tools to get them out. Fish first every time!
Great fishing video! Finger hook looked pretty painful for sure. Glad it turned out good for you considering the circumstances as that was a major challenge to get the hook out!!!
Hey man, thanks for being so gracious and kind in all your interactions with others. Just an awesome young man and so knowledgeable about fishing . Keep it up!
Got a hook in the finger, too. Always carry wire cutters. My hook didn't go all the way through, felt it hit the bone. Much whiskey later managed to push the point through and remove it. Usually pinch down the barbs now, better for the fish better for the finger.
Best fishing content on YT. Great job again brother. So glad you got that hook out. Man that hurts and almost as much as a catfish barb lol. Tight lines from Central Fl.
Going to be in Gulf Shore/Orange beach area softballing it with my daughter all the way from KY. In July 14-20th luckily we only play 1 game a day. Will be doing some fishing on the coast for sure!

Let me tell you! Go fishing all the time and the same thing has happened to me, except i got all 3 treble hooks in my thigh all past the barb! it was some of the worst pain I have ever been through, and here you are just going through it and keepin on fishin! nah man I didn't have the strength in me, but awesome day otherwise haha! Love your channel man
Dam dude!!!!! I have heard of that happening. Have prayed all my life that it never happens to me. That being said, can not imagine how much it would hurt, but I think you should have push the hook thru then cut it off. Me, push it thru, slam at least two beers down, then pull it out. JC can not believe I watch the hold part of that video!!!! Dang Stephen you should have ended the video right then, but you being a true fisherman continue on, you are the one!!!!! Marry me now🤩.Awesome video!!!!!
Just got back to home in San Antonio after epic weekend fishing Texas gulf coast south of Corpus Christie in intercoastal. Actually got tired out of catching reds and specs. Had to go back to condo to rest!
Man…I feel your pain! Had one in my knee from a Got-cha plug on a rod in the under the gunnel rod storage. Thankfully no fish attached! That’s what always scares me about those dang treble hooks!
