    My son and I did this former railway route in 1997.
    Great for cycling and railway enthusiasts.
    Lived in this area for 22 years b4 moving to Essex , a very different landscape.
    Still got my bike from 1964. Nearly 60 years old.
    Did my glider pilot training in this area out of Camphill and Morridge airfields, the latter now disused. You get good views from the air!
    Still walking,cycling ,flying and gliding at 71 years of age.
    P.s. the Manifold Way from Waterhouses to Hulme End is possibly the earliest railway path converted to cycle and footpath in 1934 by Staffordshire County Council.

    Hi Tom, having just walked the Tissington trail and read some of the notices along the way, I can explain that the reason for all the tree felling is to allow wild flowers to grow on the verges, cuttings and embankments - otherwise the trees would take over and dominate. In July there's a fantastic variety of wild flowers, with attendant insects such as butterflies and moths, and it makes a stunning difference to the surrounding fields where weedkillers and pesticides rule.

      Thanks for the info! I must come back that way soon.

      No you are wrong, the reason for all the tree felling is to help tackle ash dieback disease and minimise the safety risk to trail users from diseased, weakened and falling trees.

    Nice video Tom, it looks like a trail I can take my daughter on so she can increase her mileage. Are you on Komoot Tom and if so is the route on there.

      Have had to reschedule my All Trails Ride to Saturday 16th September. Welcome to come along. The Tissington Trail would be the 2nd Trail, nice to see how it looks. 👍

    Would I be okay on 30mm slicks?

      @englishcyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      should be ok, although i'f I was on my GP5000's 28's i'd take it nice and slow and be watching what I was rolling over - pair of GatorSkins will be no bother for it though, depends what you have.
