    at minus 20 degrees C and beyond, some lubricants become unsuitable and begin to reach their pour point. thats a quote btw xD

    Damn brother! My 2011 ford escape is a mobile ice box in those temperatures! Through all of January and February, I always carried my 1200amp portable power station for that reason. Originally used an 800amp, but still didn't put out enough power when my battery was flat. Hopefully 620 cold cranking amps is enough for -50! 💀
    Stay safe brother!

    Got stranded up north of pine falls on the way back from a sled trip s couple weeks ago. Buddy's truck wouldn't start as the battery froze. When we eventually did get it going the thermostat stuck closed and it overheated lol. 7 cold hours later we got picked up. Temp was -39 without the windchill.

      i have done a good amount of riding around the north star trail , but it's been at least 8 years since i was there last!
      great place to go riding! Well as long at it's not -40 outside LOL!
      I see trucks broken down ALL the time around my house in the winter when they come back too cold for trucks to start sucks! But at least it seems like most people park close to others so hopefully they help each other.

      @@starpuss We had a decent amount of people help but after around 10pm there weren't many people passing by anymore. We were on our way back from our cabin on Quesnel lake in nopiming park. Also came within a couple feet of a moose on the way back, fun times.

    Never used a block heater on one of my vehicles. Now the semi at work different story. Only problem I have had is a dead battery. Last winter was still running the original battery in my 08 escape yeah needed a new one come spring. This winter don't have the escape no more due to a deer. Got a focus and so far it's been good at starting in the cold but hasn't got to -50 here in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Was -30 this morning when I got back to the shop my car fired right up.

      yup she has the 2.3 duratec on her!
      Mine only has 120,000KM on her
      I am VERY Tempted to install a Turbo and few other parts on her... But i am not 100% sure yet LOL

    You could get another cord and plug a 1500 watts portable heater (the ones that cost 20$) and try to heat the battery while charging it ;) You just have to circumvent the tip-over protection with some duct tape ONLY when you have the heater in your hands. This will make the battery charge faster and crank its CCA a notch. AND, before that, you could actually heat the cabin itself up to a comfortable 30 Celcius. I recommend connecting the heater to an exterior outlet that has a switch and leaving the heater connected inside the truck upwards without preventing tip-over protection during the night (powered off), then in the morning, 30 mins before leaving, you turn the switch on.

    Great video Curtis I wood strongly recommen that if u want to go to work in the morning put the block heater in ahead of time lol I don't blame your poor ranger for not wanting to start in that weather wow lot worst than what I did with my old suzuki quadrunner I started that in mjnus 30 took me 20 min poor truck glad it went thought and you were praying for heat I guess you picked the right time to have a fire ahahaha thumbs up and shared

      @starpuss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya i kind of Thought maybe moisture got into the fluid LOL! But seemed be fine after it warmed up outside!
      But.. kind of made driving her in the cold a little tricky as every stop was kind of different depending on the speed i was going , as in after going freeway speeds she got stuck, But around town , or if i was using it a decent amount it seemed to be just slow LOL!

  • @stellarproductions8888
    @stellarproductions8888 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Holy crap Curtis, that thing was colder then a snakes ass! Yeah man, that battery is toast, it refuses to take a charge, I say its time for a new battery. Also, looks like that charger is of no help in -40 degrees either. I think you should invest in a lithium jump pack, they will get you going with 1000 CCA at the ready, as long as you keep the jump pack charged of course. Get a new battery in her. Sounds like the whole truck was cold as ice, poor thing lol.

    • @starpuss
      @starpuss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Jump Pack , It's called the diesel Sears LOL!!! But... I almost started her up to boost LOL!!!
      i am not a Fan of the Lithium jump packs , they Dont help much when they are cold.
      I normally ALWAY have a Semi Truck battery in the house nice and warm , But... This year i kinda... Did not bring it inside so it's junk now LOL!

    I used to watch your videos what ever happened to Adam

    • @stellarproductions8888
      @stellarproductions8888 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam was never really interested in making TH-cam video's much, his upload rate was like one every few months. But TH-cam has changed a lot since then with new policies, it makes people not want to make video's on this platform anymore, me included. So I bet Adam just said screw it, just as I did.
