I've ate one before. First one I ever killed, cleaned, or cooked. But I marinaded mine in BBQ sauce and wrapped it in tin foil and put it on the grill. Wanting to do another now but with lemon pepper, lemon juice, and butter this time. Happy huntin.
Just started watching your videos about a week ago. I'm a city boy transplanted into the country life about 6 years ago. I've missed a lot of fun over the years! I really enjoyed this video. Now I know how to catch, clean and cook a rattler and will definitely try it!!
Definitely do more rattlesnake catch, clean and cooks. Just get some bigger ones next time. LoL. I used to cut them up in five or six inch pieces and fry them.
West Texas boy here. Grilled the rattlesnake that bit my jack russels face last 4th July. Payback + fatboy issues. She took the bite purdy good. We were floatin the frio the next week. Nice vid, new sub, keep em comin.
Chewy bony chicken, that really does explain the taste and texture of rattlesnake. Awesome video of course,as usual. God bless you and your family Be safe
Last year I killed a 7 ft diamond back. I cut mine into 3-4" pieces and fried them in the cast iron skillet. It's easy to eat that way because you can eat the backstrap meat like ribs. Best way to prepare and cook snake IMO
I absolutely love fryed rattlesnake it is awesome yes i would like to see y'all go after some more big Texas rattlesnake really enjoy watching all of your awesome videos keep up the great work Mullet Man
South Ga. has some monster diamond backs. You get a 5-7 foot as big around as your arm and they have plenty of meat on them. I prefer cutting it into smaller pieces and doing a red pepper flour batter on them and deep frying it. I will now have to try smoking one and see how it is.
Bkk Bjk If I get what you are saying, yes the rattles are commonly emulated in classic rock. I have a few pairs that i have used when playing, as a joke on stage doing acoustic stuff. I would rattle them and whisper "spooky Western intro" and whistle.
Bacon wrapped rattlesnake is delicious. We have them all the way up in Pennsylvania. It's a little bit different here, they are regulated pretty strictly by the Fish and Boat Commission so you can only keep males over 42 inches. We did a catch and cook on a 48 incher, the bigger ones have a lot more meat on them.
Never tried it grilled, have to try that sometime. We have 4 nice dens, All ours were out of the dens two weeks ago. But the damn cottonmouths are everywhere killed 6 turkey hunting last weekend.
I grew up hunting and eating rattlesnakes, red racers and California king snakes. Good eating. You can come across huge dens of rattlers in the California desert under boulders and joshua trees
Austin Onorini, u are exactly right my friend, bacon grease works awesome, i like to Marinate rattlesnakes in a little bit of vinegar mixed with long island dressing the night before and then cover the snake in different spices and a little dusting of flour then put it in the slow cooker in bacon grease & let it slow cook for a while and man u talk about a tender amazing tasting piece of meat!! I was actually stationed at fort Hood in texas so we ate plenty of diamondbacks & if anyone reads this plz try my recipe, u will be glad u did, thanks for the video guys
Hey Man, Its been crazy this year on our ranch, we have had 2 calves bitten by copperheads and is only the first of May. I know how we treated the calves for swelling, but how intense was your treatment and how did it effect you. Thanks bro.
@First Last I have seen two snakes in 35 years that were either a coral or king snakes. one was in a hay barn on our ranch, and the other in a deer blind. I was afraid to mess with both of them.., but the copperheads are showing up everywhere..
Caught a huge rattler when I was stationed at Fort Hood.... took him down to the mess tent ( we were in the field training ) and cleaned / cooked it up. It was good
Everyone like this so he will see it and let his friend know please, use car hoods, they have a bump so the snake isn’t being squished but it’s good cover and in SC they love them
I grew up in West Texas, Sweetwater to be exact home of the worlds largest rattlesnake round up! I actually cooked thousands of pounds of rattlesnake every year and the best way to cook it is to soak the cut the snake into 4-5 inch chunks soak in beer then batter it in cornmeal with seasonings, then deep fry it. Then when you eat it you squeeze the ribs together and bite both sides of the back getting both back straps at once. I would love to go out hunting with you guys sometime if your ever interested I live in Copperas Cove!
What about moccasins? And does heat cook out any diseases like( possible)rabies? Or is that not an issue? Got lots of moccasins around. Been tempted to cook one or two up.
Dope vid. First one I watched , not sure how it ended up in my “ recommendation “, glad it did tho. Long Island here, we now have great white sharks swimming in the sound. How bout a catch and cook great white vid, haha. Interesting vid bud. Props. 😀

And thank you this recipe looked yummy

Those snakes sure look quite cold. Like they were in a cold cooler before being placed under a rock before filming!! Lmao
Garrett Cain I thought the same. Not one rattle til they warmed up slightly.
I just said the same thing I've caught and handful of rattlesnakes and even in the winter they are quite loud
