    "What's next?" That line is the legacy of the show.

    I loved this line by Sam: "Home Sweet Home" when he said that to Josh and Donna especially as Josh had convinced him to be "the me to my Leo" when he had flown to California to convince him to come on board.

      @@angusperson4222 Josh would've already been a COS for Santos for 4 to 8 years. If Sam would've been President which is unlikely since he hasn't held any public office at this point. But if he did Josh would probably want a cabinet spot after already being COS.

      Well assuming that Sam becomes President after Santos has had 2 terms as President at that point in time Josh will have already been Chief of Staff for 8 years. Maybe at that point in time Josh is one of the Secretaries at that point in time.

      Nah, Josh will have already been Chief of Staff by the time Santos leaves office. The next rung of the ladder is either retirement or Vice President.
      Maybe a one-term Democrat followed Santos' two terms, failed, and was followed by a Trump-like, Republican president who made things astronomically worse, so the best came out of retirement to set things right. Lick that napkin that says, "Seaborn-Lyman 2022" and stick it on the board.

Another White House wedding, this time a traditional Jewish service (Donna having converted to Jewdaism) in the Rose Garden. Josh tenders his resignation as he and Donna drive off into the sun set.

      It's a widely accepted rumour that vinick winning was the original idea, but after John Spencer passed away they decided it that it was best to go with Santos, as without Leo the ending would have seemed bleak, instead of balanced as was intended. People dispute how late the change was made, some people claiming that a vinick victory was even filmed but this is unlikely.

      Are you sure it was an official senior staff meeting and not just a particular meeting that involved the 3 of them? I mean they were standing up the whole time, so it's not like it was that long of a meeting. And it was still the first day of being president.

    @observer9670 Vinick and McCain are nothing alike if you ask me. McCain is a neocon through and through. Vinick was more like Barry Goldwater or Ron Paul. During the meeting with the President where they are told about the Kazakhstan conflict, Vinick was skeptical of getting involved, McCain (like he is with the Iran conflict now) would've said, "Why aren't we in there yesterday?"

    @krystleab I think you're being a little harsh on season 6. Season 5 was definitely a sort of holding pattern season, with a few individual highs but lacking an overall thread and direction. I like 6 and 7 a lot. They lacked some of the wit from 1-4 but had the same substance I thought. For the overall storyline, 7 is easily up there with the early seasons. Alan Alda as Vinick was genius casting. 7 is the only season that gives you a good Repulican/Democrat match up.

    • @briesullivan883
      @briesullivan883 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Manny535 Sam & Ainsley get married in Season 5. Sam and Ainsley have their first kid during the season 7 primary season. Sam has grown to love the type of childhood that Ainsley had (near/in a small town, on a horse property, LARGE extended family that shows up for each other and is loud and chaotic in the best way) and says that he wants to move closer to her family after the Bartlet Administration is over and he gets a teaching gig at a college(speechwriting and the political process, like campaigns and all that). Josh offers Sam and Ainsley positions in the Santos administration, but Sam smiles and shows him pictures of some of the houses that they like (not the exact house they’re buying, but houses that fit the criteria; they would probably stay with family while they shop around for the perfect house- probably something with 10 to 30 acres and enough room for horse stables and riding arenas and paddocks etc, a chicken coop, vegetable gardens, a greenhouse, etc). Josh has to accept that Sam is in a different stage in his life and that fatherhood really is Sam’s dream.
      (After Toby’s presidential pardon) And then either at the goodbye party or when the group is seeing Sam, Ainsley, the baby, and his mom (I think she would have moved out to DC with the plan to follow them wherever they moved to), Sam tells Toby that he arranged for him to have a job offer with him at the college. Toby is overcome with tears and says “You’re an idiot, you know that? *turns to the baby* (Name), your dad’s an idiot.”
