While VHS tapes have that cozy retro look, I DO think DVDs deserve their purpose as they are (as well as Blu ray) better for preserving content. Either way great unboxing video!

Barney’s Night Before Christmas, instant classic.
•The sets were wonderful.
•The songs were scored by Bob Singleton, so you know how that goes.
•And it’s just a fun adventure they go on.
It’s got everything you’d want out of Barney. But I’ll have to give it a -0/♾ because Santa’s beard was just a little too short for my liking.
His beard made it feel like 4 hours.
I thought Bob Singleton quit the show after Season 3.

I actually don't mind the longer run time from your videos. Also your reactions to most of these covers is just too funny to me. Especially the "Let's Go To The Farm" and the Circus one. 🤣 I would enjoy to see a top 10 list of your least favorite Barney covers.

Even as kid I thought that picture on the 'Barney's Super Singing Circus' VHS cover looked unsettling. There's just no way Barney can physically do that pose. It looks like they cut off Barney's head and placed it horribly on a different body! Also, I agree that it's annoying how the DVD covers use images of Barney that don't represent the era used in the featured episode(s). That's false advertising!
I realize I'm late to comment, but...
@5:00 - The case to this tape originally had a front to it, and that was for "A to Z with Barney" (the alternative home video title of the Season 5 episode, "What's in a Name?"). "Howdy, Friends!" is part of a 2-pack that goes with "A to Z". Also, this episode is from Season 5, not Season 1 (You might be thinking of "Down on Barney's Farm" - that episode got re-released by Lyrick in early 1998, presumably to help promote "Barney's Great Adventure: The Movie". Because...the episode is about farms, I guess. :P).

Also, they do use that awful BJ costume in Christmas Star. Which was also the last video to be filmed at Las Colinas for the main scenes. But they also used the new studio for the park scenes (which wasn’t completed yet when this was filmed)
I find it odd that they named one of the DVD titles "Just Imagine", yet none of the episodes in that compilation used that song.

I can't begin to tell you how much of a breather it is to see someone else feel the same way about the case covers. I did like how they used the season 4 dinos flipped on Musical Scrapbook though, but the rest of that stick image stuff was a true dino catfish 🤣

Funny story, when you said "you can't tell what's rhe Park Era, and the golden/lyric Era, my favorite Christmas special from barney was a night before Christmas, when I was in a store, I saw a barney DVD that was called a very merry Christmas I got because it had the train that went around the toy factory, I popped it in and it was the park Era, with the caboose😡, eventually I got the right on.

Yeah, "Round and Round We Go" was a video made during the Lyrick era that didn't get released until HiT Entertainment put it out in 2002, a few days before Barney's Christmas Star, the first true HiT Entertainment Barney video came out.
You wanna know how you can tell this was made in the Lyrick era? The end credits literally say "(c) 2000 Lyons Partnership" at the end, implying that post production had been completed by then, it was mastered that year, but they held it back from distribution for probably several reasons.
A lot of the first videos HiT Entertainment put out of Barney were ones that were filmed under Lyrick and were at the time in different stages of production.
And for "You Can Do Anything", that one was filmed in 2000 by Lyrick, Post Production got completed by HiT in 2001 [hence the copyright date in the credits], and it got released to stores in early 2002, but only on VHS. The DVD came out in 2007. Same with Barney's Beach Party, except that one came out on both VHS and DVD.
And to answer your questions about different distributors for Barney, it was just different distributors for HiT Entettainment's stuff in general. From 2001-2006, they were independent [so it was just them putting the DVDs out, nobody else], and then in 2006, it was 20th Century Fox distributing their stuff, and then from 2008 up until 2014, Lionsgate distributed HiT's stuff, and then from 2014 to 2017, it was Universal Studios Home Entertainment that distributed HiT's stuff.
I don't say 2014 to present day because HiT Entertainment doesn't really exist anymore. In 2012, Mattel bought HiT Entettainment [mainly so they could buy the full rights to Thomas and not just make toys for it through Fisher Price], and in 2016, they folded HiT into a new division of the company called Mattel Creations [which, as of 2019, is now known as Mattel Television]. They occasionally still use the HiT Entertainment logo, but mainly for Thomas stuff, and even at that, they're phasing it out.
I hope this didn't get too complicated, I'm just telling you as someone who grew up with Barney and other HiT shows in the 2000's how things were with the distribution, because it was a bit complicated, so I'm just giving you the facts, all I know from a consumer's perspective.
Long story short, those companies didn't just distribute Barney, they distributed everything from HiT Entertainment.
The change of ownership to Hit Entertainment may of caused the delays in releasing the final batch of Lyrick filmed videos.
From what I remember (though I didn’t really watch it other than probably one episode), FiFi was some British stop motion show which I’m guessing HiT also distributed during the time of those DVDs. Also great video as always

I used to have Round And Round We Go, Colorful World, Dino Dancin' Tunes, Barney Songs, Happy Mad Silly Sad, Songs From The Park, Best Manners, Movin' and Grovin', Red Yellow And Blue, Numbers Numbers, Halloween Party, Night Before Christmas, Christmas Star on VHS.
Howdy Friends is from season 5 btw.
I honestly didn't know they rereleased It's Time For Counting on DVD either, that's neat!
I bought Good Clean Fun on VHS in the late 2000s, remember liking it! It had a Joe Scruggs preview at the end from what I remember.
I've seen Let's Go To The Farm at Ollie's a couple years ago.
Colors And Shapes is actually a 2-tape set and you received both tapes from the set.
Don't know why, but I thought the case with no artwork had Musical Castle inside, but I was wrong.

I’ve seen fifi and the flower tots before l, hit entertainment usually adds bonus episodes of other shows into there Barney dvds such as, pingu, kipper, rubberdubbers, etc. i guess fifi and the flowertots was in it, but anyways. Nice video! And when you do another Barney vhs tape collection I feel like you should mix it with the dvds too! Overall great video!

I love your haul videos Hedge. I would also love to see an updated Barney VHS collection video from you too. I'm not a big fan of the Barney DVDs, mainly because, well, they aren't my era of Barney. As you know I'm from the Lyons Group era from Barney and the Backyard Gang to season 2 of Barney & Friends, though I do have an appreciation for the Lyrick era, and the early Hit Entertainment era, simply because that's where Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato got their start.
I was born the same year Season 4 was making the rounds, but the few Barney tapes I had were Lyons. I feel like HIT could've released a series of DVDS called "Barney Classics" that was ALL Lyons all the time.

The rhyme and rhytims (i don't remember the name) was one of my very favorite Barney specials just bacause of Goose Mom (not sure if she's called like that, in spanish it's Mamá Gansa = Goose Mom, I'm sorry I'm a latin american Barney kid watching a Barney video in english😂)
I honestly though that was a DVD of either “Barney: Live in New York City” or “Barney’s Great Adventure: The Movie”.
I don't know if anyone else can agree with me but I always loved that the lyrick studios DVDs have a lot of stuff on them HIT entertainment never did anything like that and I don't know why

Holy wow that is a lot of Barney related stuff on VHS and DVD and one book and despite for some misinformation like howdy friends because it's an episode from season 5 not season 1 and also A to Z with Barney is released in 2001 and I know that you don't like the season 7 through 13 unless if you count 14 costume of BJ but, personally I don't mind that particular costume too much and I appreciate the body performance of Kyle Nelson and I will wait patiently for the seasons 5 and 6 reviews as well as the short-lived concept of Barney's house but as for now you can go ahead and try to figure out ways to put all of the stuff that you got a wonderful and a long video of Barney content.

I only have 1 Barney thing and it's the DVD for Let's Play School.
I used to watch Barney as a kid but I don't have much interest in watching it now. I'm more interested in learning about the history and I also like unboxing videos which is why I'm here.
The only reason I actually bought the DVD was because it had a trailer for The Wiggles on it and I love The Wiggles. It was an American dvd. I"m not even American but I randomly found it in a store. (The Wiggles trailer was pretty much just Hot Potato btw)
Also a few other things
1. What do you have against Hit? Personally Hit is one of my favourite companies. They were brave enough to give us The Wiggles which no other company has tried since.
2. I watched Fifi and The Flowertots as a kid and it's actually really good. It's the prime example of Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover (also the theme song is pretty great)
Also I couldn't help but notice that Come On Over To Barney's House has a 16 song sampler for The Wiggles on it.
That's so cool. I wonder what's on it.

Hi Hedge, just to let you know that I also hate Barney VHS and DVD releases from the HIT Entertainment era of the franchise and the HIT era in general. It wasn't as good as the Lyons era or the Lyrick era. If Lyrick Studios did a merger with Gullane Entertainment (the company that owned Thomas And Friends when they were formerly known as The Britt Allcroft Company) because both Barney and Thomas would have better handling for them than HIT Entertainment did. HIT ruined both Barney The Dinosaur and Thomas The Tank Engine during the 2000s.
