Just seen a story about this from Abc news looks like they managed to cross pollinate and collect seed during 2022. Still don't have much hope for this tree it's hardly a remarkable looking tree that people will be planting in their yards especially when there hundreds of more beautiful native grevilleas and much nicer looking eucalypts than this.
Excellent thought provoking video. Thanks. A South Aussie here really hoping we can manage to save it. Any updates on it - esp in regard to the recent Unprecedented Bushfires would be appreciated.
Would love to try and grow this back at my village. I've been researching applied permaculture in Woomelang and one of the projects consists of conservation, and trees such as this would be great!
Well, it's past 2020. How is our progress on preservation of this tree going? Have they collected ANY seed or produced ANY more trees?
Yes - you see articles about from ABC from late 2023
I think grafting to other root stock has been the little success had so far with this species
2022 so far nothing happened

@@clint-0088 well that give me at least some hope
Is there an update on how the breeding program is going?
Good on ya
Good to see some action on this critically endangered tree. As a Mongarlowe resident, I'd love to help rehabilitate the Mongarlowe Mallee on my land.
Mary Appleby Wow, what a privelege! I hope you and the scientists are succeeding in protecting and propagating this amazing, ancient tree.
